    I'm wondering how hard a "No trainer card" challenge in these games would be. I played the card game as a kid, so I know how how strong trainers are. That challenge might be harder then these single pokemon ones.

    @@Paraspectre Interesting for you or viewers? Your editing a commentary definitely won't make it boring for viewers, and you can add some tactical discussion to the video since your deck will actually have to change in ways that are not "add 4 Pikachus". It might be boring for you though. You'd be horribly dependent on the luck of the draw and would have to grind a lot of boosters.

    I certainly did enjoy this video, and all the PCG videos to be honest. Perhaps if you want, you could try some more random challenges. Like... You can only make a deck with a balanced amount of all the different Energies and limit the number of Colorless Attacks. At the least, it will allow you to have a little more support than just a specific handful of cards.

  • @Paraspectre

    @Paraspectre

    @@Paraspectre That is basically what I was thinking. Suddenly gives a lot more thought to having which cards used at which time, but also reduces the constant issue of "half the game hates Ground-types". Another thought could be restricting the amount of the same card in the deck. Like, you may have only 1 of each Sandshrew, so you might use both just so you can use a Sandslash. And suddenly utilizing trainer cards or trying to use some evolved pokemon has you using cards you havent considered before simply because you need more options.

    I absolutely love TCG 2, I think it's better than TCG 1 by a mile. But you're 100% right that TCG 1 is better for challenge runs because it's more open ended with what you're allowed to do. If I were you, I would focus on doing more challenges in TCG 1 that you found fun to do, rather than trying to shove challenges into TCG 2. Plus, since TCG 1 is a shorter game, you can pump out more videos.

    Watching this after the Vending videos makes me think how cool it could have been to unlock those rule cards (possibly more than in the vending packs) in boosters to give you access to some of the extra rules Team GR uses yourself. Some of them wouldn't work obviously (the deck requirement ones) but extra rules like no discard pile, best 2 of 3, no fighting resistance? Those could have been cool.

It seems like it always gets very frustrating once you get to GR land and have to face the deck stipulations, and I think a run where you can actually adapt to those and switch up your deck would interest me more than "Well I'm just screwed until I get lucky." Could you beat Pokemon TCG 1 with no trainer cards?

    This is honestly a video I probably will try in the future. Relying too much on my gusties can be addicting.

    I like the pokemon card game, was one of my favourites from my childhood but for challenges the second part of this game is annoying, can believe all that backtracking you have to do.

    I’m honestly surprised there wasn’t MORE backtracking. It’s weird that both times playing it, I only had to go back for Mysterious Fossils. Other than the legendary cards of course
