Darn fireworks! Stay safe and close to home SJ City Hall falcon feathered family!

Spooky indeed! Great defense, and a lesson on sneaking around after dark around other birds I suppose 😆

A note to add to this excellent video: the first sister arrived just 2 minutes before the second (so pretty cheeky of the first sister to claim territorial rights). Since you could hear a lot of fireworks that night, I wondered if both were driven to the nest so late at night because of the noise and to seek the perceived safety of the nest.

4th of July week is not the best time to chase your sister from the nest. I'm not leaving my nest on the 4th! Thanks to SJ cam ops and Tina F for the spooky film, and of course to SKH for the capture and interesting captions.

Fireworks should be banned. Laser displays should replace them. Just as good, and no noise.
