We spontaneously travel to San Diego as the month of May comes to a close. Coming from Long Beach, California, the distance is not too far, just 2 hours away.
First destination on our agenda is La Jolla Cove, which is in the heart of downtown San Diego. If seeing Marine Animals up close brings you enjoyment, then this is the place to go. If we brought swimming clothes, we definitely would have swam with the sea lions.
Next we venture off to a secluded footbridge. The historical spruce street suspension bridge is the perfect photo op spot for the casual Instagrammer, like me. If you want to check out my instagram, you can find it in the description below. If I forget, please remind me. Luckily for us, we were able to take one polaroid picture, however, that was the only polaroid shot we got to take because it malfunctioned on us. Regardless, we made the most out of this spot.
Afterwards, we visited the unconditional surrender statue. Located at Tuna Wharf Park, visiting this statue at this time is perfect because not many people are out and about. Usually there are lots of tourists and photo enthusiasts who are attempting to get the perfect shot with this famous statue. Definitely a place that I would recommend you go to whenever you are in town.
All this taking pictures and driving can definitely get someone hungry, so we stopped by Phil’s BBQ, a staple in San Diego. When we arrived at Phils there was a line; however, the workers moved quickly and we were able to get our food asap. We did not stay inside the restaurant any longer than 30 minutes, and we ordered a bunch of food. 3 orders of ribs and a bunch of sides.
After eating our Phil’s BBQ, we could not help ourselves but to forage for some desert. Luckily we found a nearby Shaved Ice place called Water Shack in Vista California. This water distillery sells delicious foods such as hot dogs, chili cheese fries, and Shaved Ice. Definitely order smaller than what you feel like getting because they actually provide bigger portions than what is expected.
