Padres are SINKING! You can go out and spend a fortune signing the best players in the world & hope that the talent rises to the level of expectations. But the greater the talent, the greater the ego. All those egos in one room can create conflict. Even if they're all internalized. Internal conflict creates resentment. And all this talent created a bubble of immense pressure that's almost guaranteed to bust. This team is STACKED with top tier talent, no doubt. But beyond the big names, the roster looks pretty thin. Say what you want, but at the end of the day, you can't buy team chemistry. And personally, I think that's the most important ingredient in the entire championship recipe.

They most likely won't even make the playoffs. Padres should've been seller's at the trade deadline. Not buyer's. Just went and had a fire sale. Had they done so and traded away Tatis , Machado , Soto , Bogart's Snell and other's. Yeah they would suck for the next few years. But they are doing that now while spending $250 million. And they would've gotten like 10+ top 100 prospects for those guy's.

They're engraved with acts and things done on the field. The '98 Padres made it. This team has not yet. So as of now, you cannot compare this current team with them or any other team that has made the world series for that matter. We have to sit there and take it and hope they make it. Otherwise they'll just disappear into another could've been. And that's it.
