Very light, compact, portable, without apparent distortion and sharp. Very sharp. Since 2020 is always in my bag as my second lens.

This is definitely the best lens for vlogging. It's super light, wide, and sharp. If you break it some how being out and about it's super cheap to find used for $200-$230. This lens, the 135mm F1.8 and 35-150mm F2-2.8 is the Holy Trinity of Samyang/Rokinon Glass.

How about using this lens on a crop sensor? Does that make a serious image quality difference while comparing it with the Sony 16-50 kit lens?

Bro, I recently bought a Samyang 18mm lens for my Sony A7C II, but unfortunately, the autofocus is really bad. While vlogging, it doesn't detect my face most of the time. I checked the firmware of the lens, and it's on version 3; I think the latest version is 8. I don't have a lens dock to update the lens. Could you please advise me? Would it be better to return the lens, or will updating the firmware make a difference?

@TarkshyaPictures I heard about needing the lens dock to keep Samyang lenses updated. The extra expense seems like a bummer. Anyway what ever happened with yur situation? Did you return the lens, or did you buy the lens dock and update your lens. If so, did it help any?

? Depends on your shots ! Wide, medium and close up, 18mm, 50mm and 85mm

I have a A7 IV and trying to vlog with it on my Zhiyun Crane M2S, is not comfortable at all. Too heavy. Perhaps this lens could make walk and talk vlogging more practical. With no noticeable distortion, attractive price, tiny size, and wonderful sharpness, the only things holding me back are the lack of weather/dust sealing gasket and the need to have the samyang lens dock to update the firmware, (hassle & expense).

Nice looking lens, especially for the price. Cheers

Looks fine although with the 1.5x crop it makes this lens essentially a 27mm.

Yes it's a FE Full Frame lens

It will fit, but this is for Full Frame Sony and the A6400 is a APSC crop sensor camera.

@@WORTHITORNOT I'm busy preparing and performing with bands, and taking care of my daughters, it's not work, no worries ! The lens has a nice character, your footage looks great, total no-brainer. And the light weight is awesome, AF performance on point. We have sauna climate now, only 30 centigrade but 85-90% humidity, I basically melted today walking only about a mile. But lunch was spicy, maybe that helped open the sweat flood doors 😅
