Samurai Shodown, known in Japan as Samurai Spirits, is a fighting game developed and published by SNK for the Neo Geo arcade and home platform. Released in 1993, it is the first installment in the Samurai Shodown series. In contrast to other fighting games at the time, which were set in modern times and focused primarily on hand-to-hand combat, Samurai Shodown is set in feudal-era Japan (similar to Kaneko's Shogun Warriors which was released the year prior) and was SNK's first arcade fighting game to focus primarily on weapon-based combat.

Grande Kyoshiro, jogava muito com ele no SAMURAI 2.
I would have loved to have seen Kyoshiro without the paint and red hair. He was a fun character to play as. It was also cool that Bizuki became his sidekick on the road once the spirit of Mizuki in her was destroyed.
Samurai showdown 2 is great but the original is a perfect work of art.
12:18 - 12:29 was that a back to back double stun?!! 13:22 How can Nakoruru escape his Fire Breath by simply jumping?!!! 21:00 How can Amakusa heavy slash for 75% health without a full Rage Meter?!!!! This game still amazes me to this day.

This game had a different concept than other beat em ups. It was based on catching the enemy off guard and landing powerful slashes. Attack damage also had a random bonus.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but it sounded like it was a two hit attack. Still crazy damage either way though.

Amakusa once took 80% of my health with a simple throw + got me stunned. Not surprised.
