I played Samurai Shodown II ALOT on my computer back in the day, and one thing that always stuck with me compared to many other fighting games I've since spent a lot of time with is how slow, but in a good way, SS is compared to the others. Because a normal Heavy Strike in SS does so much damage compared to the other games, but at a cost. The attacks have longer follow-through, so if you miss you'll have to pay a heavy price. Positioning and timing are important in all good fighting games, but they are ESSENTIAL in Samurai Shodown, and that's what I love about it. Unlike SC (another great weapon-based fighting game) you can't sidestep, so blocking and waiting becomes that much more important. And by the looks of it, this game stays true to that formula. Welcome back, Samurai Shodown.

I don't like to watch gameplays much but this one was incredible! The fight with Genjuro was freaking nice. Congrats on this video!

Sorry about the Genjuro bout. He's hard as hell no matter WHAT the difficulty setting is. This game is SO gorgeous with a soundtrack to match. I like how Hanzo has something eloquent and profound to say after he bests an opponent. Thanks for the upload..

After the disappointingly easy Verse. I'm glad they're back to their SNK Boss roots with Shizuka.

Hanzo is really tough playing against the cpu. A lot of Hanzo's best tool like cross and mix up does not work on the cpu so you really have to play differently vs a human opponent.

The Supers sure take a lot of damage, but I feel they're hard to land due to that. Ah, heck, the Supers in SamSho 2 were hard to land too.

Classic SNK boss syndrome! Still haven't beaten it, but great game. I got 2 out of the 4 DLC right, though! Kazuki and Basara! Hopefully Sogetsu next season. Great gameplay, BTW.

Awesome. Great to see this game return to form.

I like the scene of Hanzo without his ninja battle gear and as a family man, dressin' normaly and chattin' with his wife Kaede and his sons Shinzo (the white dressed one) and Kanzo (the brown dressed one).

A combo system in Samurai Shodown? Aru you nuts?! The only quasi-combo (very very limited) was introduced in samsho4 and personally i wouldnt like it any other way. But where is KENKI!? That little bar under the health meter (samsho5, 5sp, samsho6)

that is a way better way to enjoy story gameplay than seeing a opponent barely not moving... Nice play 👍🏻

I hope not. I love the emphasis on mind games and sword-fighting in this iteration. I enjoy a good combo but Samurai Shodown isn't the place for Soul Calibur style combos.

@@FightersGen yeah 😃 me and my brother used to play the hell out of samsho 4 at our local arcade and he was the one who noticed it, i swear it was the funniest dialog i have ever seen in a fighting game i thought we were the only ones who knew this, not even!😅
