Loved watching Eto'o play. He was super reliable and consistent in all matches. In my eyes at least out of he and drogba he is better and I watched both throughout their whole careers. I've never had the pleasure of watching Weah and Milla play unfortunately so I cannot comment on them.

This debate will go on forever. Both players are very different and came up differently. Eto’o was brilliant, skillful, smart and one of the greatest goal scorers of his era. Drogba on the other hand was just a force of nature. It was just something about him that you really can’t quantify. He was a special player, feared across Europe yet adored every where he went. He had this invincibility about him that when at his best, there was a feeling the game wasn’t over yet regardless of the score. He had many intangibles. Arguing who was better or putting one over the other does such injustice to what either of them were about or brought to the game. They both achieved iconic status and feature on most all time best player lists. When players get to that level, it’s just a matter of personal preference. The finesse of Eto’o or the brute of Drogba!

Drogba had iconic moments, but Eto’o really was shining in his prime

Eto'o also won an Olympic gold medal with Cameroon at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. He reached the final of the FIFA confederation cup in 2003 with Cameroon in France. The 00's were peak of footbal for many people, me also..You had a bunch of top teams and players who played longer for one club than nowdays

Both are amazing, to me it's always Eto'o, but both of them have all what I love in a striker and in a football player in general. Number one is their personalities, both are super confident and super competetive players and they are big moments players! Eto'o scoring in 3 UCL finals and winning every single final while being among the best players of the match, winning every final he reaches says it all. Drogba lost some finals, but he was a great striker none the less. Eto'o has the speed and lethal touch in the box, and he will fight for every ball and will be a nightmare to any defender, Drogba has a powerful body and he use it well, and technically he is also a very good player with the ball, his headers and powerful shots are something else. In general they were very close and if you had any of their prime versions in your team you will be happy regardless of which one do you have, but Eto'o was more crucial to me as my memories of him is always connected with big titles and big performace in important games.

Imagine having both samuel eto and drogba in your dream team 🥺 Its nightmare for the opposition, Eto with lightning pace and Drogba with deadly finishing, I love them both ❤️ Both of them are one of the best players to ever play football

Eto as a professional and a player. Alot of times Chelsea lost or he got suspended in future matches due to how his emotions controlled his actions. He hurt his team too often. Eto'o was for the team and thats that. And he played bloody everywhere.

RESPECT! great vid. i loved watching both these guys. Eto'o could dribble past 2 or 3 defenders and tuck it in the corner. he just had a bit more in his tool belt. but Drogba was amazing to watch too tho. clinical and powerful finisher.

Both are two of the best strikers of all time. Love them both and was lucky enough to watch them play. I can't choose.

Would love to have both if I was a club owner/ manager. Two different styles, both effective. Would play as a front pair or single striker depending on the situation. Opponent leaving gaps at the back to exploit by being aggressive in attack? I'd select E'to. Opponent sitting deep not leaving much space to dribble or pass through? I'd select Drogba to bully that defense until they crack.

They both had their good and bad moments and both players were unique in their career. Etoo was fantactic drogba was too.

Tough comparison to achieve given they differ in every single way save being African strikers. Drogba was played far more like a target man and very often the lone Striker, Etoo was in contrast either a wide player or central player in attacking pairs or trios. Also, Etoo played in far superior teams and arguably easier leagues to score in as a striker (at least with regards to La Liga, less so Serie A). This is not to say I disagree as I'm not in the best position to judge having seen far more of Drogba, but a lot of this comparison gives Etoo an advantage.

If any1 remembers the Inter Milan vs Barca game where Etoo was deployed as a LB by Jose due to a controversial red card and Man the guy played there like he was a born LB.. What a game that was and for me one of the top 5 CL games of all time.. Barca robbed themselves in day light with swapping Ibra to Etoo with an additional fee of 40M something.. And Ibra sadly couldn't win CL ever in his career... Etoo all day long over Drogba.. ❤️

You're right. The achievements of Eto'o are better.

There is no debate, Eto'o and Drogba are not the same kind of player. Drogba was more a classic powerful 9. Eto'o could play in several attacking positions, and in all of them was very good.

George Weah, Okocha, Abedi Pele, Kalusha Bwalia, Roger Milla etc are in the conversation.

Eto. period. and i LOVE drogba!! eto was a goal machine. while drogba had some purple patches and he did walk around sometimes on the pitch.

Etoo better player and prob greater career. But drogba meant more for the teams he played for. But when asked greatest African striker, it should include how good player, their accomplishments, and their intangibles. Etoo on top

I feel people really undervalue how good Drogba was at holding up play long enough for players like Lampard to advance which wouldn't always result in a goal or assist for Drogba but still meant he was pivotal to how that goal was scored. I still feel like maybe Eto'o edges it but Drogba played in very defensive teams for most his career, with the main exception being under Ancelotti.

Eto’o all the way. Drogba was an amazing player in his own right but Eto’o in my opinion is the best striker in the history of African football. He as the striker had the best touch I’ve ever seen.
