@@nifynitm Also, Yashin played in a time where they scored more goals than nowadays. For example, in the 58 world cup, they scored 89 goals in only 35 games (3.6 per game), compared to more recent world cups (2.6 to 2.7 goals per game in the 2014 to 2022 world cups). So getting clean sheets in that era is even more impressive.
My dad talks about Mr. Lev often. Usually to compare him with current goalkeepers, always saying Lev could do better, keep in mind my dad is Portuguese and watched the rising of Eusébio the black panther. For a foreign goalkeeper to leave such an impression says a lot about how amazing Mr. Lev was. 🎩💜

Look at his childhood. To go through a war, working at a factory, worrying every day that the nazis will push through and invade Moscow, making weapons as a 12 year old. Then quitting the sport altogether due to a nervous breakdown, eventually making it to Dynamo just to warm the bench for several years. He even won the Soviet hockey league which is mindblowing considering how good they were at hockey. And despite all that, being voted as the best voted european goalkeeper 9 times, winning the Olympics and the European Championship, and eventually winning the Ballon D'or. Obviously he's the greatest goalkeeper of all time and one of the most underrated players in history.

I remember when i was a young boy my Father and i would talk about great football players of the past. We even decided to make a 'greatest team ever' and that's when i first heard of Lev Yashin from my Dad. He spoke about Lev as if he had supernatural abilities, diving through the air totally horizontal catching a bladder with one hand (if you know what a bladder is then you'll know how tough and heavy those balls were). Lev Yashin is a legend of the beautiful game, always first on any World select team sheet, and a pioneer of modern Goalkeeping. Great video bro, it would be nice to see more videos of bygone heroes of Football. If i could suggest just one player i'd like to see a video of Garrinsha who played in the same Brazil team as the great man Pelé. There’s no doubt Yashin changed the scope of goalkeeping. Perhaps no other footballer has changed the game as much as he did. His athleticism with his diving saves, rapid reactions, sweeper keeper role, punching and quick release of the ball to launch attacks and the vocal role he played in organizing his team were all innovations now taken for granted, though few of even the best contemporary goalkeepers possess all these skills. But there was also his courage as one can witness in the many instances in this footage where one sees him diving at a striker’s feet. He was brave, intelligent and humble, a great example.

Great job, thanks for sharing this GEM of a keeper. Goalkeepers don't always get the recognition that they deserve.
Love this, one of the most underrated players in history because he’s a goalkeeper. Really all I knew about him was that he was part of the fifa team of the century & the only goalie to win a ballon d oro until now. I’m happy to learn more about this man & hope to see more goalkeeper based videos!!
He’s the greatest. If it wasn’t for him, the modern goalkeeper wouldn’t be what it is today. Or it would’ve taken longer to get to be what it is today. And he’s the reason I used to wear all black when I used to play in goal

When i first heard of Lev, 5ish years back, as a goalkeeper myself i was amazed. For the time, for the standard, and for the hardended players he faced.. Hes the best thats ever lived. Innovater, winner, and his highlights are only whats been filmed and they are of better standard than modern goalkeeper top 10's
For me at age 66 and having seen some great goal keepers during my days, there are three that really stick out: Gordon Banks, Lev Yashin and Rinat Dasaev. There were other greats like Ladislao Mazurchievicz , Amadeo Carrizo, Oliver Kahn, Seep Maier, etc.

It's crazy how literally most of the greatest people ever had a tough life. It's even more crazy that probably most of us have had tough moments in our lives too, but maybe we chose to quit and that's what made them great and us normal people. Stay motivated and confident in your own abilitys.

Glad to have found a video about the Black Spider, growing up the old timers talked about him like the goalkeeper version of Pele. His work ethic and talent would make him successful in any era of the game, thank you for giving him the attention he deserves

another name of Lev is - Black Panther
looking at his childhood, it seems to me he was a man who knew what it meant to be the last man standing, to have your back against the wall and make it happen or else. That quality is invaluable to a keeper.
Lev Yashin was not only best goalkeeper ever, he was also a true gentleman. A real sportsman. Full of decorum. Even when his team lost, he went round shaking hands with all officials and those from the winning team.
Thanks for the great video, as you said he is a real revolutionist, he re-created the goal keeper position , he opened the new era ,today ,sure, there may be better ones as sportively but he would stay forever as the founder father of modern goal keepers.respect.
His track down speed on apposing players and break always was insane. All he need was 4 steps covering so much ground so fast , dam what stud.
yashin Is a Beast Goalkeeper
I remember watching this absolutely brilliant Russian goalkeeper in the 1966 World Cup. Lev Yashin. Particularly against Germany as I recall. I thought of him as a great Russian bear. I never forgot him, and always wondered what happened to him and how no one had ever mentioned him since. Thank you for bringing him back to me! I knew he was really special.

Raymar has won the ballon d’or for best American alive. On a real note I love these videos. You should have a Netflix documentary, the commentary and you don’t just dive into vids without proper research ( you did do that a bit before though). Much love from the UK
I would love to see a movie/documentary about his life like how pele got. From working in the factories at a young age to playing hockey and his overall journey to the top sounds very interesting

Superb video my friend. As a goalkeeper myself for over 20 years its its without doubt the hardest position. I knew about him being 63 now, i saw him on tv in the 60s as a kid But NEVER realised that in the season he won the BD he only let in 7 goals... That my friend will NEVER EVER BE BEATEN. So yes your right he was/is still the greatest.. P.s I'll bet it wasnt easy getting that footage either.. well done.👏👏👏👏
There are not many legends out there but some are, Michael Jordan, Ayrton Senna, Mohammad Ali, Lev Yashin, Ferenc Puskás, Pele, Babe Ruth, Carl Lewis, Magic Johnson, Bill Russel, Boris Becker, Ivan Lendl, Martina Navratoliva, Marita Koch, Nadia Komaneci, Naim Suleymanoglu, Katerina Witt, and so on. Lev Yashin was one of them. He was and is a LEGEND.
I love how you analyze retro players to show this generation 👏👏
He should do the Mexican Legend Hugo Sanchez next. He had a very interesting story to success.

I read of Yasmin from a children's magazine when I was about 11 years old. Then I Google to see him in action, and it was crazy. I believe he is one of the best footballers to ever exist, or to come
Just watch clips of him. Within 2 minutes you will see how great and how ahead of his time he really was. Dude was amazing. Acrobatics like that bk then were unheard of. He dominated everyone while also wearing gloves equivalent to oven mitts.
Legend goalkeeper of football history no one can reach in his level ♡♡♡

The fact Yashin let Brazil score 2 goals is insane Yashin might me one of the best goalkeeper and he deserves more respect
he was more than just a player, always analyzing his own games in mind is something humans lack, it is not the talent, but the hard work that made difference, both physical and mental, I hardly believe we will see anything like this in football in the times we live

Лев Яшин был настоящей личностью, каких редко встретишь в футболе. Он излучал человеческое тепло, которое не характерно для футбольного мира. У меня всегда было чувство, что сейчас играет Великий человек.( Франц Беккенбауэр.)
name Lav means Lion in our Slavic language . The Lion he was indeed. what Tesla was for science fields Lav was for football development . Lav introduced modern way of goal keeping . further more in era when goal scoring was simple and often he was almost unbeatable on goal post. in todays standards i dont think people can even imagine how good he was. try to put 5 top goal keepers in one individual and you get Lav Yashin.. if your lucky :)
Nice video Really made me to love this legend
In the days when you could passback and keeper's would just hold on to the ball, this guy played like an outfield player. Did his job and expected no glory. True legend
Love these videos. Lev yashin changed the game for goalies. In my eyes he's the best keeper
When you became so harshed and so broken from a early age , you become indestructible . Lev Yashin aka the black spider not only for his godlike skills but also his black past. But non of this hold him back and he became great . A legend to be remembered till future because person , players , skills like him are hard to find .
Great video. I had no idea. Simply amazing. Thanks.
Beautiful thank you for sharing
You NEED to make a video on Michael Laudrup...the most under-rated player ever...definitely the most under-rated Passer/Assister Played for Juventus, Barcelona & Real Madrid, was described by the likes of Raul, Pep Guardiola and Platini as being the best players they ever played with. Iniesta and David Silva also modelled their entire game on his dribbling and passing. But for some reason he's never spoken about! You can do this Raymar 🙌🏻😂
Ivo Viktor was a Czech goalkeeper who came second in ballon d'or voting and was one of the best at his time, so he was pretty close...
As a person who played mostly as a goal keeper, even looking at his training I can see some of the drills that my teacher made me do, I’ve heard of the black spider but did not know about it much to me the only reference on good this position was Oliver Kahn.
Great video! Thanks so much!
3:11 power shot. The ball was heavy in those days and so for that shot the power behind it will enormous.
