Regardless of this being 4 years ago.vI have the same problem. It's the middle button. It no longer clicks. I shall order a new 'smart remote' as I'd have no chance myself. Thank you so much for airing this video.

You are supposed to lift the black tab before removing the ribbon cable, you should never remove it like you did you can damage the ribbon or connector.

+FixItBuildIt Please don't take it the wrong way I was just giving you helpful tip, reading back on my comment it does sound patronizing so I'm sorry . If you lift the tab before inserting or removing the ribbon you will do so with zero insertion force ;). Those dome switches are pesky, I had a universal remote that used those switches, a few of them didn't work either, I pretty much did what you did except I cleaned mine with alcohol and a tooth brush.

@@FixItBuildIt My problem with that remote control is that the Mute button doesn't work, it clicks but the mute function doesn't work, what could it be. Thanks for your help and videos.👍🏼

It took me 5 mins to observe it and investigate and I found away to remove everything very easily-and fixed it -I’m not a tech like this guy but - there are black brackets keeping the circuit board just adjust it abit and the board moves out - I clean everything put it back together and sorted

Any idea what size the screws are that we’re removed @3:15? They seem to be missing from my remote and I need replacements because the remote breaks every time it hits the floor.

exactly the batteries drain fast and I forgot to remove them and when checked after a year they had leaked all corrosion inside and the remote stopped working.

Hi All, I have a weird phenomenon with this remote control. My baby boy played with it and put it in his mouth and from the that moment the on/off button stopped from working. the problem is that this button is not working only when the batteries are in the remote. If I connect the remote to different power source (connect a battery holder to the plus and minus connectors of the remote) the button is working. More than that I noticed that if I leave the batteries inside the remote but I bypass the default bridge inside the remote batteries holder (there is a metal wire that connects the plus of one battery to the minus of the second) with a wire the button starts to work again. I really don’t understand this - I can do the bypass but what is the reason and why this button only (all the others works fine either way) Have you encounter in this phenomenon?

Msd Ali mine did the same and then it stopped working. I recommend you to get a new one if you still have the warranty.

If the buttons are not an issue... Hold "return" and "guide" for 3 seconds It will pair the device with the TV.

Folks i've been a professional techie for years. Too easily the term 'burnt out' is used to describe old switch contacts which is not exactly correct. While the surface may be burnished from original it just requires a fluid clean and when it comes to contacts in such a small device its more that there is barely enough wetting current to get across aged contacts. Some contact cleaner with only clean, may attack plastics, and will not leave a protective film. All that needed to be done was spray something like INOX, (Inhibit Oxidation), over the dimple button surface. You can be liberal with it. Doesn't dry or crack plastics. Fluid will run under the switch dimples and clean/protect the contact areas for many years to come. The reason I visited this video was to work out how to get the dam thing apart!
