That's why I trust Rtings above all other review sites out there. The fact that you guys actually purchase each TV for review makes you way more credible compared to sites who get review units that are cherry picked.

Dry Bonez the KS8000 is a great TV. I specifically got it for ps4 pro 4K and HDR gaming so I ditched my cheap 4K tv for it. Games look great in HDR. I'm very happy with my decision. OLED is better though but too much $$$

Dry Bonez I have the same TV and when watching Netflix HDR it's really dark and honestly sucks. But when I play HDR games it's normal brightness and looks great so I'm not sure what's going on with your TV. I will say that Rtings.com even says to raise your backlight to the max of 20 for HDR content so if you haven't tried that I would give it a shot first.

Steve Ayala the lg OLED is amazing. I just got the 55c6p after returning the Sony 55x900e and am wayyy happier with the lg. I first walked into the store looking to buy a Samsung KS series but was quickly turned away from them and 2 of the display models had like burned lines coming from the top and bottom of the screen probably because they are edge lit

The American Soccer Guy totally get where you're coming from. I thought about that too. everyone has to pick what they prefer. I for one hate watching something at night and have a grey screen while it's supposed to be black. bright rooms won't really notice that on a bright tv. it's a give and take. I'd also say the white on OLED isn't as white but mostly on when almost the whole screen is white. as far as the full array local dimming. it hardly would ever work well with the x900e but it's a whole different tv

Obed Blas I agree but the new lg 2017 OLED are supposed to be better with up to 25% better brightness and better image retention and if they do. They will be more than slightly better. My next tv will probably be an OLED but I hoping my Ks8000 last for at least 5 years before I do that. I just couldn't go over a certain price point but I agree OLED is better

Obed Blas I watch tv and play video games in well lit room usually. I might watch movies in the dark but that's it. I wanted an OLED but it was between a 55in OLED or 65in Ks8000 so I went with the bigger screen for the same price. Considering Sony saying you need at least a 60 inch TV to see the benefits of 4K from a normal viewing distance

+Obed Blas-I would rather deal with vertical banding on my ks9000 then have to worry about the organic material in the OLED decaying in five years. It has been proven that the colors fade and lose accuracy over time, usually beginning with the blue pixels first. Also, why the hell does everyone try to avoid image retention? It's a real issue for OLED, and the ultimate deal breaker imo. And 700 nits on the B6 vs the 1500 nits on my ks9000, get the hell out of here with that bs.

+Mutyi80-All OLED's use rgbw style pixels already, they use the white sub-pixel to increase brightness. The wallpaper OLED will be no different, and it will most likely have a ton of input lag like the 2016 OLED models, unlike the class-leading input lag found in all 2016 Samsung tvs.

  • @saintkamus14

    @saintkamus14

Except LG's WOLED doesn't use RGB pixels, they use color filters instead. So your argument doesn't even apply here. But even if it did apply, Samsung has largely solved this on their (small) OLED panels by making the sub-pixels different sizes. Colors look just as they did when i bought my Note 4 even after years of heavy use. Also, Image retention is not permanent. It goes away in a few minutes. Burn in could be permanent, but it's a risk that I'm more than willing to take for reference picture quality over a TV that looks terrible in proper viewing conditions. After 6 years of heavily using a Panasonic Plasma, that also has risks of burn in, and also has image retention. I haven't had any problems with it, it still looks perfect. The only real significant advantage LCD has over OLED is price. With some 4k LCD TVs starting at $350. "High end" LCDs don't even have that advantage, let alone "wannabe high end" sets like this one that aren't even high end FALD LCDs but are priced as if they were. TL;DR- Take your FUD elsewhere, OLED is the best, it's simply much more advanced than LCD in picture quality and the trade offs are more than worth it.

Hi I like watching your videos about TV tech. You're very articulate when it comes to reviewing the new TVs. I'm planning on buying a new 55 inch TV in 2017. I'm going to wait until Autumn and hopefully the prices will be better by then. I trust your opinion very much. I want top of the line. I want to get the best TV available, regardless of the price. Is the best TV branch at the moment, the 2017 LG OLED, Samsung QLED, SONY OLED, Phillips OLED or even the Panasonic OLED? Is OLED the best technology available at the moment by the way or is it a personal preference? If OLED technology is the best, I wanted to get the LG OLED since they have the heritage for OLED technology. I'm going to get a 55 inch so is the 2017 E7 LG OLED my best bet or is there another 55 inch 2017 model that is better than that? I know you haven't reviewed all the models yet but you must have some kind of knowledge from CES 2017 and other sources. Please get back to me. My name is Johnny. Thanks and have a great day!

Incase you look at LCD models, The Z9D is the best LCD model yet to be made. It is the best TV hands down when it comes to HDR. combining Almost OLED LIKE blacks with brightness peaks never before seen on a consumer TVs. Reviewers have said things like it make them believe in LCD TVs. Sony released it towards the end of last year however they are still keeping it as their flagship of 2017 despite having an OLED ! If you want a more budget friendly TV i would suggest Sony's new X930E which is basically the same as the Z9D except in the black level department where it cant compete with the Z9D. But it is still way cheaper. And it also comes with Dolby Vision as well as the same X1 EXTREME processor which was introduced in the Z9D! And if you dont care for Dolby vision or the new processor chip and just want a good TV which doesnt make your pocket cry, then you'll still love the NEW Sony X900E which is just a step below the X930E.

Take it from me - brand new 6 month old KS8000 and the panel is dead. Samsung does not want to cover the warranty.

Dr Strange honestly, lg b6 is a top rated buy for a reason and at this point competitively priced. I spent the money on one and would do it again

No worries man, the screen retention is really non issue. I have never actually witnessed it and I play video games and watch hockey (static symbols) all the time. If you ever did notice anything, there is built in software that removes it.

What you are doing is a public service. It is journalism in conjunction with scientific data. Well done. The QLED are a fiasco and misleading marketing. I was waiting for this review. Yesterday i order the 55KS8000 for 950€. The KS8000 in Europe has the premium aesthetics of KS9000 unlike the cheap plastic in USA.

Update 06/22/2017: Samsung got back to us regarding their investigation: "The result of the investigation into the lower peak brightness found on the 55Q7 sample by Rtings.com is; Damage to the sample in shipping resulted in a lowered peak brightness. The damage effected the performance of the light guide plate, and this lowered peak brightness by 33%. (the sample picked by Rtings offers 782 nits, when measured based on 10% window peak luminance. An actual figure according to measurement by Samsung is 1160 nits.) Due to the defect caused by the damage, the product fails to meet the specification standard and its peak brightness was compromised." It is hard to know how widespread the issue is, but our 2 units that we bought, shipped weeks apart, were affected by this. Therefore, you should expect a variance of brightness on the Q7F depending on how smooth the shipping/distribution went with your unit. This variance of brightness may not be noticeable to the average consumer however, unless you put them side by side. Also worth noting that even with the numbers of expected brightness that Samsung provided, it wouldn't affect significantly our overall scores (you can check our scoring formula by clicking ? next to one of our ratings/tests, or you can also check our review of the Samsung Q9F which is similar but brighter), so it doesn't affect our recommendations since with the current price, it isn't competitive and falls short of other TVs.

I bought a 65 inch specifically because it was recommended highly for Xbox and Playstation use, However I find it VERY odd that Samsung "buried" the Game Mode so far into the menus. Without Game mode, the imput lag is really bad!! Oh well, at least I found it with your help Rtings, much appreciated. =)

Great review ! Would like to see the new Sony 930E, and how it compares to KS9000 or Q7.With Q7, looks like Samsung has priced their lowest model at the premium price range. And their highest model, Q9, at an unbelievable price...65" at $6000 for an edge lit !!!When no one buys these, prices will come down quickly. Then too not as cheap as KS8000/9000.

Wow! Fantastic REVIEW! So it's proven that Samsung is baffling consumers by sending modified units to reviews and different units for domestic sales. SHAME! After the marketing of rebranding SUHD LCDs to Qled, that is no more than a maneuver to shuffle consumers looking for OLED, they are sending TVs with higher brightness peak to review and lower brightness to sale. Really shame! Consumers deserve to know the truth, so thank you for inform us correctly.

This is not an SUHD rebrand. SUHD will now be known as Premium UHD. You will still have your 6, 7, 8 9, series just like last year, just now you have the modified Quantum Dot technology (Q-L-E-D) on top of that, providing better color and contrast.

KforKurious since 2015 that Samsung uses quantum dots in their LCD panels (Sony uses since 2013). This is NOT new. Its all marketing! Neither a new pixel structure was implemented as they showed in CES. They weren't able to produce it. Really disapointing.
