Beautiful tv! I own one, keep it on Dynamic mode and it’s kickass, was here two weeks ago before the purchase, I don’t fault it and it’s a big recommend from me! I find that like anything else it gets better within a week of play once the machine starts working...Can’t test anything in two days at the most and then post a review! Applies to all the reviews on KZread, Buyer be ware.(Verified purchase!)

Looking forward to the review. Hopefully it's before Black Friday. Speaking of, do you have reccomendations for TVs to look out for this Black Friday and Christmas season? That could make a good video and would be really helpful.

Aaron Hulme The XE9005 is a FALD (full array local diming) tv so has more dimming zones compared to the Q7's bottom lit. The images will look deeper and richer with certain scenes. So if your watching a movie in a dark room the Sony has the advantage. The Q7 has slightly more colour volume for DCI P3 but it is marginal. The XE90 being 98% and Q7 100%. Tests from other reviews have in some cases struggled to get above 98% volume. Both get around 96-98% colour gamut for DCI P3. When tested on many sites the XE90 series held it's peak brightness for a much longer period of time due to its backlighting when compared to a few seconds on the Q7. I work with tvs day in day out and must admit the Samsung design looks amazing, but image quality on the Sony has impressed me more In HDR and standard TV. If your eager to see reviews between the two, head over to Rtings

Yeah I've been doing lots of research lately, I agree the Samsung is better aesthetically and I liked tizen os on a ks9000 I had (sent it back because the screen uniformity was horrendous). The Sony does seem like the superior panel but I'm really not keen on android os, I think I'm going opt for it though. Thanks for the reply by the way, appreciate it

I quite like the Android platform, what you can do with it is very impressive. Would prefer the interface to be a little more refined like the Tizen, but with Android being open source it's got more future updatabiliteis. The interface might get redesigned and more. If you mostly use the tv for being a tv then the software wont be an issue.

Hello Vincent, have you looked at or calibrated a 2017 6300 series Samsung UHDTV? I bought a 43" in August, UN43 MU6300 and everything is good except when it comes to HDR content on this tv. I have a Samsung 4K Blu ray player and HDR content on Netflix and when it comes to HDR the picture is So dark. Almost unwatchable. Tried calibrating the best I could but I can't get over how or why it is only that dark in HDR. KZread 4k content and Blu-ray and the menu screens all look plenty bright. Would love your input. You're the best product reviewer by far.

Hi Vincent, one thing I haven't seen you mention is the effect Samsung's HDR+ mode has on HDR content. Yes with SDR content it's their sdr-to-hdr system, but with HDR content it apparently manipulates the tone mapping in a similar way to LG's "active HDR". Please could you check out what HDR+ mode does with HDR content? Tia

The TV is nice but still not sure why QLED tech cost as much as OLED which is vastly superior in terms of overall picture and black levels. Yes the QLED is brighter but does that justify the similar pricing? If I'm gonna spend that much I'm going for OLED. I would add that the only other drawback for OLED is burn-in which I don't want to deal with If I'm spending 1800 or more for a TV. I know it's a mixed bag when some have not experienced burn in while others have. but just the though of the possibility of burn-in bothers me, especially if one is spending some decent cash.

  • @crickcrot

by all all accounts the present day oled tvs regular refreshing ie screen washing when turned off stops the risks of burn in.

  • @nelsonc6173

@ Kenny Harris Perhaps but the cost of OLED for me makes it to much of a risk. I'll wait for the tech to mature more and in the meantime LED will suit me fine. Don't get me wrong I love the picture and like I said no LED can match, but burn in is just to big a risk for me with prices as high as they are.

  • @mr.fakeryt7000

@nelson c We are in the same conditions, I do not know which TV to go to, the Oled B7 has lowered its price much, the blacks and contrast are higher that is clear, but invest a good money for a TV that suffers burn and image retention (proven) is a good idea, my option would be qled q7f, although the brightness reaches only 800 nits according to several sources, the qled promised 1000-1500 nits, error that samsung is recognizing, so it is not easy which model to choose properly, it could be the sony but its android interface does not appeal to me at all

Why do you need to enable high bandwidth for HDMI ports? Why aren't just full bandwidth by nature? This is very confusing for average users who are wondering why HDR isn't working, they don't know that they need to enable high bandwidth. I'm not sure if there is a logical technical reason for this, probably there is since you have to do this manually on every brand. Manufacturers really need to make more plug&play this 4K HDR world for average consumers.

It's because if you hook up a regular 1080p source it can sometimes cause issues. I've seen it on my OLED when I changed my 4k blu-ray player to a different port.

  • @mrtickleuk

    @mrtickleuk

    6 жыл бұрын

As Sean says, it's because when incompatible devices are connected (that don't understand the HDM2 modes) you can lose audio, picture, or both. That is your logical and technical reason for it, unfortunately. So Samsung (and ALL TV manufacturers, as you say) were forced into defaulting to "low-speed" HDMI modes only.

OLEDs can experience burning (often seen on older CRT monitors and on plasma TVs, where parts of the screen appear less bright). Moisture and climate changes can affect the matches on an OLED screen. These screens also have shorter lifetimes than LCD screens. Then this is the TV for you!!

Jorge Mark Never the less it's still LCD and not new tech I can't justify spending this much on old dressed up tech. Samsung is also building the world's largest OLED as we speak on there current LCD. So my guess is they will be producing OLED tv soon even tho they claim QLED is just as good or better.

Not gonna buy OLED cause of burn in. I had burn in on my plasma which was the only reason I had to upgrade my TV.

Why have you introduced that annoying and distracting noise to your reviews, yes I mean what passes for music? Please no more, thanks.
