Depends if 7 years of upgrades matters. If you are planning to have it for many years. Resale value would probably be better because people rather pay for a used phone that will get upgrades. I am writing this on a Note 20 Ultra, that I bought about a year after its release. I did not get last big OS update, only got two in total over the years. Resale value quite low.

Finally had hands on with the Fold in the store. While the small hardware changes are nice and creates a different feel in hand, I hate the fact that there aren’t any major upgrade in the inside. I pre-ordered one, but I just wish they’d make it a much more substantial change in the upgrades.

I’m digging the new design and improved water protection. Just wish they at least matched the camera performance of the OnePlus Open.

What I like about the Z Fold is that - it leans into the fact it's a foldable, and its outer screen is better optimized to use in one hand than a typical phone is. If I want a wider screen I'll open it, and if I'm not opening it it's because I don't want a wider screen right now - resources are pumped into durability and reliability every year, rather than into being flashy - since the design language stays more or less the same each time, I don't need to worry about an aspect of the phone that I like going away next time I upgrade So refinements that don't change much over the last gen? That's perfect for me. I'm not upgrading my phone every year anyway, and those refinements add up. I'm upgrading unusually quickly this year (have a Fold 4, and that model was a bad year of durability- getting off the ship before my trade in value sinks to the bottom of the ocean), and even with only two years of refinements I'm looking forward to my phone being less of a gimmick/novelty. Fold 4 is bulky, a little unwieldy, and I'm constantly mildly worried it's gonna self destruct. The 5 and 6 didn't change much, but what they did change was major strides towards making those things not the case.

Got fold 5, and the front screen is just too narrow to use comfortably. Was hoping the 6 would correct this. For me, it's a 5 with a few very minor changes. Very disappointed.

Same. I ended up trading the Fold 5 and getting the S24U. I was really excited to see if the Fold 6 would solve some of my pain points (huge center screen bump, impossible to comfortably use a stylus over it, extremely mediocre camera quality, awkward to use outer screen aspect ratio) but this doesn't seem to change much :/

It did widen the outer display though. What's the problem? That was always my gripe but I'm finally going for the fold for this reason.

Don't do it , I got the fold 3 which is still plenty fast ,you couldn't pay me to get the 6 , I'm not paying another $2,000 for minor upgrades, no thank you... OnePlus and Google are on their first try and did foldables the way most people want them , bigger screen on the front, better cameras , we're going on the 6th generation and it's the same design , same cameras, ...can you say Apple ?

I'd do it. I got $1200 off for my trade in. Not sure how much you could get but I'm stoked for mine coming in.

I've had Z Folds 2-5, def a fan. This time, I'm holding out for the rumored Z Fold 6 slim / ultra.

It might not be saying much but this was probably the biggest upgrade since the 2 imo (wich I'm still holding on to)

They didnt even give the fold the gorilla armor....thats a deal breaker...ive had my s24 ultra for 6 months and not a single scratch. Plus the anti reflective nature is absurdly good.

I like the refinements this time with the Fold 6. Thinner, bigger front screen and the silver is very nice. I also like the squared off design. The rounded nonsense always looked forced and out of place. No, it’s not a big upgrade or redesign, but it does solve the little issues of prior models. I’ll definitely preorder

Shame that they don't include cooler colors for the fold series. Been with it since the fold 2 and always end up with that blue color

As a person who genuinely prefer compact phones and one handed use, i like that samsung went wider but still retained a "narrower than normal" screen

I'll hold on to my Zf4. Although it's good to know Samsung still offering crazy value towards a trade in.

Just preordered this with s24 utra trade in package, just ignored the haters and no way I will buy a chinese phones😂

So it's basically the same phone , but Samsung told the influencers to focus on weight and size. Got it. I'm going to go weigh my watch, with a new ergonomic weight band. It has more holes and different colors. Maybe a titanium lock 😂. 1) the front screen should be larger. 2) for the price, it should have the S23 Ultra cameras. I'll deal with a slightly thicker phone for better cameras. 3) stop pushing AI as a feature. Phones from years ago can run AI.

Just preordered it Fold.6 It cost.650 With a fold 5 trade in

@@davidyang9902 I have a one plus open... It's superb. After 15 years with Samsung is was time to go with the innovation and I don't have any regrets. Screens are bright and soft is smooth, multitasking is far superior then Samsung, screen has almost no creese, premium materials. Ohh boy... I made the best decision . PS: Before I tested Honor magic V2 who is even more beautiful than Oneplus, but the soft was a nightmare for me.

I will wait for flossy Carter's review because most of these tech reviewers are not telling the truth. The only real upgrade was the price. There's a big difference between slightly larger outer frame and larger. Samsung is no longer a company I trust or will buy from when it comes to cell phones

Why does Samsung have wireless charging if it doesn't even work great if you charge it the phone gets too hot and might damage the battery

It's a backup charging method, so if you charging port fails, you still can charge or be sol after the battery dies if you don't have wireless charging.

If you charge your z fold 4 and z fold 5 you get this notification saying phone is too hot to charge and if you keep charging the phone you get a loud alarm to disconnect the phone from wireless charging and cable charging until the phone is cool off

Foldable screens always have and always will have annoying center lines and split with repeated folding. It's the basic physics of molecular structures. Learn your physics and chemistry. Like constant dripping water creates holes in solid rock over time. So repeated folding will split a screen. Samsung knows these folding screens will fail much sooner than a traditional touch screen. That's why they are producing and pushing them. My neighbor's folding phone screen failed within a year.

Aspect ratio of the inner display still cuts down the size of videos to be the same as a typical large screen slab phone.

If watching video is the main thing you use a phone for, then the Fold probably isn't for you. That said, I find large-screen slab phones more difficult to use one-handed when I just want to read something or check messages compared to the narrower Fold.

@@andy0995 I see...I only use the inside camera for video calls so quality isn't much of a concern for me. I always use the rear camera for group selfies and everything else... works really well for me as I can see the preview on the outer screen. I end up with a better image than any other phone's front selfie camera.

After 6 years have folds and they still can't get the basic size and shape right it's like a small child's toy....

Very disappointed with everything Samsung released during this event. I thinking of going to an iphone finally if the s25 ultra is as bad as these.
