That's a solid repair :-D Phones and tablets are something i don't like touching, i don't have the microscope to see those tiny pins and the hot air station that would have just sat there for a million years after i did the one job, if was to buy one lol. A frend begged me to replace a tiny socket on a go pro, that was rather difficult with an old antex iron and jewlers eye piece. My eyes have lost the clarity for close up work, age has sneaked up ha ha :-D

@JobbyFix one question… I am not an expert at soldering, I like to fix what I can, you were using something that looked like a brush but I could not make it out for sure… is it a specific tool (name?) where at the end you were cleaning up the solder and it helped leave a nice bead. Also if possible direct me to any of your videos where you might explain it more… thanks. I see you have many cool fixes… I want to learn more than just soldering but also understanding the circuitry better ( I know basics)… SUBSCRIBED.

@@ziggys745 it is a toothbrush but any small brush with plastic or fibre bristles will be ok. It works very well with a paper towel and some iso alcohol to soak up the remaining flux.

@@ziggys745 This socket is specific to samsung only and is used in a few different models of tablet/phone. You should be able to find them on ali. When searching you might find them under usb socket or usb charge port

Can it be done without heat gun or hot air gun. I have a solder which i have used for small jobs around. I opened it easily and the board is out but am scared of touching the charging port.

I think it would be quite difficult. You would need to flood the back of the connector with solder so that the case and pins are all joined then use a very hot solder iron do get all of the joints liquid together.

I would start from the side furthest away from the crack and work your way around until it's loose enough that you don't need any strong prying near the crack.

Hi, what temperature do you use on the soldering iron, because everytime i try to remove the solder from holes( when doing charger port repairs), the solder doesn't move.

Because the boards can sink away heat easily you want to be up around 370C. Add flux if using wick as this hot will quickly dry out the wick and it won't work. I usually use hot air at about 240 to warm up a cold board but if you've just removed the socked it should have a lot of residual heat to help you. Also add leaded solder first as it's easier to work with and will displace the lead free stuff. You can get away with 330 on the small separate pcb that some phones have.
