Confirmed as working. Brilliant thanks. A suggestion to others...I used a second phone to block the PIN and activate PUK as couldnt do it on the S8, but once in I was able to follow the procedure. I did make one mistake and was locked out again, and had to start over with a new blocked SIM. Follow the instructions carefully and it will work. Top job!

@moammed Ali : I didn't see the "Notification settings" option after the 10th attempt. It just went back to the "Start" screen and now it appears SIM lock is disabled because the SIM has been marked as "permanently blocked". what should be the issue ? In the past I have used this method to unlock and it worked on one s9 model. But this time on another s9 it doesnt give that notifcation settings option

Confirmed working on S9 for Verizon. It will take some time to lock the puk on the card but it does work. October 8 2019. THANK YOU!!

September 1, 2019 PATCH UPDATE SOLUTION. Worked on my Galaxy s9. If you insert the locked sim card and select "NEXT" at the wifi setup wizard simultaneously. !!!!!!! (i.e At the same time insert card and click/select "next"). !!!! You will get locked because of the sim card. You should then 1. remove the sim card tray 2.Quickly select okay 3.Select the lock Icon. STEPS 1-3 SHOULD BE DONE VERY FAST!! (under a single second) It took me about ten minutes of trying. Remember to keep selecting "Next" at wifi setup wizard as you insert the sim card! 4. skip to 6:06 on this video and continue his directions ( HOLD THE NOTIFICATION AND PROCEED AT TIME) Goodluck! Hope this helps anyone who understands. :)

I know that there are options like USB Debug Mode, FRP Lock and Software like Dr Fone. You can also boot into the recovery mode, fastboot or download mode? There are also hardware tools out there. I don’t think so that you could do this on S9+ without losing the data. Only way is hard reset and that will remove your data

diego bacarin Yeah. Lock SIM card first and use non-active SIM cards.

Then get one or buy one. This can't work without a SIM card.

So u go to settings, this is android and try find where sim pin is to setup
