I just got the S6 & I'm in love. The camera is just WOAH.

So happy for Samsung. This is the major come back they needed. I hope this phone sells like crazy. I don't know if it will reach as many as the iPhone 6 sales (maybe it will, it already has 54m preorders) but they sure nailed it with this device! I'm still using the Note lineup though and always will. Note 4 is too good to let go of ♡

With a camcorder THAT good, I might go Samsung again. As a photographer I usually don't give a shit about smartphone cameras but since camera manufacturers have really been dragging their feet with 4k and seeing some mind blowing 4k video shot from the S6, I'm really tempted.

For the screen when I compared the 2 phones I could barely tell the difference. So tie. Battery life htc won that. Camera: i dont take a bunch of pictures anyways so idc lol. I absolutely hate touch wiz so htc has that. Finger print scanner and heart rate monitor i never used in my s5 so still htc lol it's not even that much different than the s5 with minor changes. Samsung has had shitty things with it since I've had my galaxy s3

The m9 plus was designed for the Chinese market only and the m9 seems very new to me since ive all ways wanted an htc and allways owned samsung phones the gs6 seems cool but it still looks like touchwiz and touchwiz was shit The m9 beats the s6 in some categories and the s6 beats the m9 in some categories you just cant have a perfect one for me ill take the m9 any day

m9's battery lasts 20% longer? really? i mean it's vastly different result from what i saw on phonearena, gsmarena, anandtec, etc. m9's battery life is even worse than m8 on battery benchmarks.

bother don Battery benchmarks produce very unrealistic results, for example Phonearena put the phone down to 200 nits and then get the phone to display some content. It therefore fails to account for the different screen technologies and for the standby life of the batteries.

HTC get the camera right, remove the HTC bar and place the volume keys on the left and the power button on the right then you have a perfect phone *-*

Excellent, very clean and professional review! I have grown to hate my current 3 year old Droid Razr, which constantly jams and freezes, no matter how many times I clean it, delete large files, or shut down background apps. Expandable memory speaks to me for that reason especially. I refuse to give up my unlimited data, so I have to pay full price. Samsung's high resolution is also compelling, even though I like the look of the htc more. I'm not an apple person, so I do want the best android device I can get. Hmmm...

This is the 1st comparison I have seen that actually does a good job at showing the differences in the cameras of these 2. Putting the images and video side by side is the way to do it! Great comparison.

I had the m7 for 2 years and I'm choosing a new phone tomorrow. Since the m9 released I've had my eye on it because I consider myself an htc one fangirl. (aluminum build/front speakers/no lag has been chained) But then... I watched freakin' 4 hours of video reviews on the Galaxy S6/Edge, G4, Nexus 6, etc and I finally decided to choose the S6. I'M TAKING A RISK I hope I won't regret it.

I ended up choosing the S6! It was a difficult decision, but I went with it. I've been using it for the past 4 days and so far it has been an awesome experience!! I love everything about it, especially the camera. I was afraid to lose the "premium" feel from the htc and the front speakers, but the S6 feels just as good in the hands and the sound is loud. Loving the beautiful display and snappiness too. No regrets :D

maregondrako I've been visiting Hong Kong these past few weeks so I've been taking lots of pictures/videos and playing games on bus & MTR rides, yet the battery still lasts be from morning to evening. I really like the fast charge!!

HS SH Here in Germany, everyone is buying the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge. I work for Deutsche Telekom and 60% of new mobile subscriptions are for the Galaxy S6, 15% are for the iPhone 6 and 25% for everything else (HTC, LG, Oneplus, etc). Germans only buy the best quality products. So this means the Galaxy S6 is very high quality.

SKY HIGH still getting the htc one m9

I switched over from HTC to Samsung and i m glad I did. I have owned the one m7 and m8 and both phones had major overheating issues in my experience. I couldn't use the GPS on either phone since it would over heat in 20 minutes but I do miss having those awesome speakers.

I just ordered my M9.... honestly I don't care about the "bad things" about the new One, I still want 1080p, battery is a relative thing to the phone you already have, and I really like the One series, I don't use the camera for anything but Snapchat and stuff, so all the bad stuff they say about it really doesn't matter to me.... and come on.... glass back? reminds me of the cracked back iphone 4 I have laying in a drawer...

I'm just waiting for the Sony Xperia Z4 to be announced but these are nice phones by the way...

The htc one m9 would be my choice if it had optical image stabilization.

Ray Got Skill it actually does. If I remember correctly, it is rated at IP X3, so it can't ve completely submerged, but it is water resistant.

I feel like all these reviews give the s6 the run away, but the only thing it has on the M9 is the back camera (front facing camera on M9 is possibly better than the s6), and maybe the finger print / heartrate sensor (which a lot of people might not care about). For what it's worth, I think the S6 looks ugly. It's an iPhone rip off with a gross glossy back. Not having dual front speakers is a huge turn off for me, and also touchwiz is awful. That with a worse battery life, and no expandability means it's a no go for me. I don't take a lot of pictures, so it's really not the end of the world to have a worse low light camera, on top of that in good lighting I honestly couldn't see significant differences in each camera's image quality. The video does suck on the m9, but I feel like all the other things are worth the trade off, I'll hope for a software upgrade or maybe 3rd party camera apps that use the hardware better.

Same! I will have to try both and see which I like. I'm leaning more towards M9 but S6 beats it in everything but expandable storage, battery life, and sound. I thought I'd love the Droid Turbo till I went and checked it out and it had a horrible speaker and you had to have an XLTE signal to use voice and data at the same time.

Great video, thanks for that! I was surprised to hear the conclusion on battery life however, as in all tests and benchmarks I have seen thus far, the M9 seems to have an abysmal life span, whereas the S6 seems to (nearly) top the charts. Would you mind perhaps elaborate on how this was tested?

Clear, factual and informative as you always do Michael. I really do appreciate the effort invested in presenting the videos. I was wondering if you might be able to show "near" similar images concurrently. When presenting side-by-side the videos, there is perhaps a half to one second lag, which means that one cannot see both images at the same time which makes comparison not quite as easy as your "stills" photo comparison. I'm always returning to this channel to see whether you've come up with a new video, I think you give some of the best analysis around. Thanks!

+Radu P. Lol. Get a Samsung/sony/ Lg/whateva, install 100 apps and test multitasking. Htc still has the most optimized UI. If i pay so much money I want the phone to dive into anything as fast as possible. Search for Samsung ram management problem on web.... HTC is still king.

HTC got my money, and i absolutely LOVE this handset. HTC will fix the camera through software, what people don't realize is that camera quality is about 60% software 40% hardware.

Both the M9 and the S6 have worse batteries than their predecessors :( If I had to pick one, I'd actually choose the M9. Sense 7 looks better and has better audio output from the speakers and headphone out, which more important to me than the Instagram pictures I take.

Don't be obnoxious. I'm getting the S6 edge, but I use a One M8 at the minute, and I wouldn't blame anybody for wanting to go with the M9, it looks like a great phone. I personally think the S6/edge looks like a better product, but the M9 is the follow up to what was in many people's opinion the best phone of 2014. The real winners are anyone who uses android, because it's clear that the two devices most prominently flying it's flag are both excellent phones, and they need to be with the imminent arrival of the iPhone 6s. Your move, Apple.

Thanks for the video! Very helpful. I use my phone for audio storage, and really dislike interfaces are clunky or I can't alter (hence my plans to move from iOS as my 4S slowly dies). Here in India i am using 5.0.2 on s4 since January 2015 and m7 is still to get Lolipop. Samsung is better in update and service. Only shitty camera is bothering me. I really want to get M9(just keep on searching for reviews about M9's better picture quality) loved the M7 design but went for s4 coz of shitty battery backup of m7 and camera.

mayank yadav mine m7 is already updated in the Netherlands, my uncle s4 though is still running 4.4 though so depending on your location And carrier the updates will be different. And on topic the camera is also a point where I am a bit concerned of HTC really needs to improve their image processing

How do i Restore my HTC M8 to an earlier date ? (about 1 year ago )..with out losing everything ?

I'm more of a HTC guy but S6 destroyed M9.

I read somewhere that the m9 uses a Sony sensor and if it's true then HTC really botched the processing software and needs to release an update fixing this shit because I know Sony wouldn't fuck up a sensor to that degree.

Popat Panchat No, the M9 uses a Toshiba sensor, which is mind-boggling as the rest of the industry (even Apple and Samsung) uses Sony sensors.

+Kevin Kulberg first thing samsung multitasking got the most points at multitasking benchmarking and also you can open 2 things in the same time. My dad has a galaxy note and my sis an s6 edge and i like them both. Im not a fan of any of these brands so for me m9=s6 and after that you buy the thing you like and i like more s6 cos of the blue color and also glass on the back and higher res cos i play a lot of games and watch a lot of videos on my phone

How the hell did your M9 last LONGER than the S6? The M9 can hardly pull 5 hours of screen on time with webbrowsing at 250cd/m. The S6 pulls nearly 8 hours of screen on time with webbrowsing at 250cd/m The M9 has terrible batterylife, way worse than the well-known battery champ HTC One M8. THe S6 trumped the M8, so how on earth did your S6 not last as long as the HTC???

Read and understand the comments once more brother. the M8 is known to actually have better batt life than the m9 which is why Kameel is saying if the s6 can trump the "well known battery champ" the m8 (yes M8) then how can it have worse battery than the m9 like was said in the video

dude my s6 lasts about 3 hours not 8.

This was a GREAT comprehensive video on these two phone...I was going for the M9, but after i bad the M9 kept on trying to refocus during video recording and low light pictures (which the M7 suffers as well in low light environment) and the button placement of the M9...I am definitely leaning towards S6 than M9...

Should I get the HTC One M9 or the Moto X 2nd gen???? PLZ HELP.

HTC still making dog shit cameras 3 years in the running, maybe next year

+Abdull Mohommed It's REALLY overrated The s6 edge only has a better camera, a fingerprint reader and useless edges The one m9 looks better, has better software, out of his league speakers (fucking surround sound?!!) and audio, an sd-card slot and better battery life. It's a very esay pick if you ask me. And tbh if you compare it to the m9+ supreme camera, which has laser autofocus, optical image stabilization, with a different sensor, and a fingerprint scanner, you'd be damn sure I ain't getting a samsung. Just because samsung changed their game doesn't suddenly make them the best...

+Lukas Kuipers Agreed, I used the edge+ and the M9. The UI on the samsung looks like it's made for a kid's first tablet and I found myself staring at the M9's design more. The speakers had me going back and in the end I chose the HTC.

+Lukas Kuipers m9+ isn't available in us, the s6 camera is significantly better which is important to people who find camera quality important (me), s6 has better display, has wireless charging

So psyched for the Android M update coming up!

For you photo review did you view then on three own screens or did you view then from alt screen truly showing the value of the photos? In other words if you send a photo to someone who has let's say a iphone...what photo looks better? In my eyes that's the real photo challenge how does it really look!? Maybe they it out?

Platinum gold looks really nice because it changes based on lighting. Sometimes it's pale, other times it's more pronounced in darker light. It also gives the phone a luxe appearance.

Thorough comparison. Still can"t understand how Android bogs down. I'm using a Note 3 since launch day. It has never bogged down once. I think comments like these are not welcome.

what about microphone quality for recording? That was the main selling point for me for the M8, even though it oddly wasn't advertised by HTC. Has samsung implemented a comparable microphone in terms of fidelity and dynamic range? can't seem to find any information on this.

I own an HTC desire right now, and I the camera isn't bad in daylight . but in low light it's just horrible .. I was planning on getting the HTC one m9 but I'm scared that the camera will be just as bad as my current phone (desire510) I really do like the design and metallic feel , and also love the glass thin feel on the galaxy s6 ..... I really don't know what to choose!! . . (Want camera with good front facing camera) . any suggestions?
