Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra - What the heck is Samsung doing !? 🤦🏻♂️
Ғылым және технология
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra had a lot to live up to! With the S23 Ultra still considered one of the best smartphones I've had, this was always going to be difficult to beat. But despite some of the issues I shared here today, is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra still the best smartphone in the market today? 🤔
In this video I took the Galaxy S24 Ultra to Manchester United's stadium, Old Trafford, which was a great experience.

For the S Pen triggering swipe gestures on the device during photo editing sessions, you can actually turn off the S Pen's ability to activate swipe gestures in the settings. Personally, I've turned off S Pen swipe gestures on the screen for my college studies.
Thank you for reviewing your experience. Personally, I moved from an S21 Ultra to the S24 Ultra about a week and a half ago and have only experienced a couple of issues. Initially, I watched about 8 to 10 tips and settings I should try on my new phone. After about 2 days, I removed/reset many of those fancy tweaks since they were sucking battery. I also minimized the AI features where I could as I do not appreciate being told what I like and dislike. Yes so the battery has been all over the place but has now settled down to well within my full day charge/use expectations. The second issue has been text messaging. On setup, I must have been sleeping and noted that Google Messages highjacked Samsung Messages. I disabled Google Messages and started using Samsung Messages. It seems that it does not receive/display conversation/group texts correctly. I only get individual texts which appear dispersed in the view/app. The screen is outstanding in the sunlight although at the expense of the battery. . The camera is outstanding, though I love the S21 camera too. . The video, ya, I might just learn video. KZread videos have been very helpful in learning setting and how-to's. . A couple of apps run very smoothly and/or behave much better in S24 Ultra when compared to the S21 Ultra. And though I am not sure why yet, but the S24 Ultra seems to have a half bar to bar better reception/connection. That is I seem to get a bar to two bars now, instead of zero/no connection to one bar. We don't have 5G locally. The jump is definitely worth it! Thanks again for sharing your experience!!
Great review. 🌞

I still love my s23u, keeping it for years to come.😊

Good points there! Congrats. I’m in India and I am torn between the ultra and plus models. What’s your take? Since I don’t use stylus if I am pick the ultra I would do so only for the more efficient SOC. Is that right to do? Or the plus is good enough for 3 year usage. FYI iPhone 13 Pro is my current phone.

best thing to do is buy a phone just before a new one comes out. like with the s23 ultra it usually sells for 1200 but can be bought new for 660 if you know which sites to go to
For the spen and the back gestures, there is a setting that disables gestures when using spen but will work if you use a finger.

4:00 I've noticed this stuttering when switching lenses. I played about with multiple settings for a while, and I found 4k60 with auto FPS switching, was the issue (even though i was testing in bright sunny contitions). When I turned "Auto FPS" off it switched lenses much better. With all the processing power on tap, could they not see that some goes into sorting out little details like this? 😡 Regarding the battery life, I've had a one or two random days where I think I've had the issue mentioned here but generally it's been pretty solid.
@AlexGTech

aha! Thanks so much for that tip, will definitely play with that setting and see if it improves! It might also help an issue I had where it would automatically go to 1080p when I was running the camera and a second app (Notes) when recording a video.
Honestly, I still have the April update and my battery life is insane! Last much much longer than the iPhone 15 pro max. For me, S24 ultra unlocked version on the Verizon network is working amazing! No issues at all. Camera, I have noticed a few hiccups but nothing more than what the iPhone 15 pro max does as well. Looking forward to the May update and new camera updates as well

I am an S24ULTRA user and I cannot think of any other phone right now. I do have an issue with my screen which is that it has a grainy texture and it doesn't affect my 95% of the time but during low light conditions it does seep into my experience and makes it a bit bad. Even with that, I will not change the phone. I really hope that they can fix this issue with an update or something.
There's no issue on my 24 ultra, except for the days I may watch 2 or 3 movies on it. But even so I'm getting 7 to 8 on screen time. I believe it should be faster then it actually is. But no movies it'll last forever. Nice video.

They should fix it on their end if it's their fault soon. I say that because if you've been on Android long enough you know sometimes the apps you have might not be optimized to your device. Could explain why not everyone is having problems with heating. I feel ( now I could be wrong ) like if it was their issue almost everyone would be having the same problem.
@teemo5409

I doubt their AI is the issue. I'm pretty sure it's hardware that needs to be addressed.
Great content. As for the ecosystem, the only thing you really need is a monitor and a smart TV. Just use Dex. That's on the s24 ultra or s23 ultra. And there's your ecosystem. And of course, a galaxy watch. This will save you about 2 to 3 thousand.
Battery is ok for me, issue is that there is no macro camera mode, Battery life can be extended when lower lcd resolution and extra dim is used and of course power save

I've been getting about 5 hours screen time easily, and I max out my charging at 80% to help protect the battery. Interesting that yours is dropping so quickly. Does your S24 Ultra have the SnapDragon 8 gen 3 processor in it or the Exynos? I'm assuming the latter since you live in western U.K. ... am just wondering if there's some dramatic difference between the efficiencies of the two.
I am 100% satisfied with my switch from years of iPhones, to the galaxy S2 four ultra. It has been bulletproof so far with no crashes. Amazing options with regards to customizing.

Man I don't know, battery life on my S24U seems about the same. My Zfold 5 on the other hand has been all over the place. Normally I get home after 12 hours at work with both phones on about 80%. But the first day of last week I came home took my zfold out of my pocket and went to make something to eat and when I got back the battery was at 4%. Which is insane when im normally at somewhere between 75-85%. The thing is I didn't do anything different. And over the course of the week it's fluctuated between 70ish% and 40%. It seems to have fixed itself though this week but I can't really tell because I've taken the week off so I've mostly been home and maybe that makes a difference.
I also have a lot of issues with the apps - they do crash a lot, which is mind-boggling! My Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is also in Titanium Violet, but with 512GB of storage. Battery also starts to deteriorate.

Interesting video. I also think that the flaw of Samsung right now isn't its issues themselves, but the time it takes to fix them. In many cases, they don't fix them at all. The s23 Ultra had big strengths and some weaknesses at its launch, and it has been carrying these weaknesses for over a year now. Especially when the camera is concerned. It's the only reason I've stopped upgrading. This sloppy approach that we've witnessed for over a year makes Samsung products less appealing, in my opinion.
Watching on my S22 via Dex
Assisto o canal em português e obviamente o inglês também rs (do meu galaxy s24 ultra rs) top demais
I returned mine after 5 days: very bad battery life like you said, the form factor is awful (I mean the sharp edges actually hurts my hand holding it), the fingerprint scanner is bad, I mean really bad, very frustrating for that price, the face recognition as well (and it only works to unlock the phone and some apps but not all of them)... Nothing Phone 2 for eg does actually better on all those points for less than half the price.
My s23u has the same problems with the April update ! Battery is embarrassing
Best phone I ever used, 0 issues and have it pre ordered, so day 1 user. Battery life is amazing, 8-9h SoT every single time and great idle time, which in my case is equally important. Cameras are excellent, but thats not the most important thing for me, my s10+ is still good enough for me in that department. Also have s22u exy version, and difference in battery life and general smoothness is night and day. Amazing screen and build quality, so really dont have a single thing to complain about.

Had to move on to my older huwaei mate 20 pro from 2018 cuz since the new update (ui6.1) my touchscreen doesnt work anymore. Hopefully samsung does something! Tried to delete cache, data from google but still not working!

Samsung S21 ultra* brand new from like 5 months ago by the way

Battery issue?? Wipe cache mine Sot is 10-11h per day full settings 4g only. My S21,23 and S24U never ever battery issues but i do what normal users do after uppdates. Better batterylife this is vs S23 U

That was the fix I was referring to and shared in the description, but I’m still not getting nowhere near as good as the S23 ultra

@AlexGTech the s23 ultra at the moments has been trash, if u check most samsung communities, pple are complaining bitterly including me, I now have to charge 3 times a day compared to one time in a day and half before the last 6.1 update. Nothing has worked, cache clearing didn't work, in fact I did a full reset and still having the same issue.

@@de-luxe491 ok, i dont uppdate mine S23 U yet
Haven't had any problems with my S24 Ultra, lasts two days. The longest was 71 hours
KZread is the one sucking the battery out of your S24, 24 plus, and 24 Ultra. You have to go to the battery settings and then Background Limits and put it into Deep sleep. If you do that your Samsung will run cooler and then the battery will be great. But you won't use your KZread premium feature, the one you can play while the screen is off

Oooh good idea! Thank you, I do use KZread a lot, will try that
That's too bad. I bought my S23U sixe months after release, as well as my 13 Pro Max.

The S23U is still one of the best smartphones, if not THE best ever for me
I'm starting to believe both samsung and apple just push updates to push them and not worry about battery life which I personally think is the biggest seller for most consumers including me. I could personally care less about the camera quality as all new phones are almost indistinguishable to the naked eye. I've using my 13 PRO max since release and have stayed with it even after trying the S22 Ultra which had the worst battery life and then ended up selling my S23 ultra not too long ago as I didn't really enjoy my experience much with it either. I may give oneplus a try again after nearly 7 years since I had the 7 pro with the pop up camera, now that was cool.

Good point about the camera quality these days... It's hard to find a 'bad' phone, especially at this price range. Yeah, I hope the OnePlus phones bring back some of that innovation thinking they had when they first came into the scene. That 13PM to be fair was probably the last iPhone that I enjoyed, a true all-rounder. The 15PM is great too but I think iOS needs a new lick of paint
Weird, im getting 8-10 hours s.o.t with pretty heavy use and high screen brightness consistently..

Yesterday I received a new firmware update, it could be a fix, not sure
I love the 24 ultra
I dont have any issue with battery life and camera or so whatever with my s24 ultra after the update. Maybe it just your phone itself have problem
I think the battery issues on all phones are Meta apps. They do the same with iPhones, my wife's 15 Pro Max had terrible battery life until she got rid of FB and IG. Not her battery ends the day 85% plus with the same screen time.
The battery performance on my 24 Ultra has never been as good as my old 23 Ultra. I also agree with the comment about the difference in quality between 12,50 and 200 mega pixel photo's. I'm my opinion all 3 are overprocessed, but the 50 and 200 mega pixel ones look horrendous. The colour is completely unrealistic and they are massively over sharpened. Samsung please take note, grass shouldn't be luminous and red objects shouldn't glow like they're radioactive. I've had most of the Note phones since they were introduced, so I am a long time Samsung user, but this has to be one of the most disappointing phones Samsung has released in a long while. If these issues aren't fixed in the next update I'll be looking for an alternative phone.
Battery for me has been good,at 62% at 11:14pm off charge since 6:20am

5 hours? I get consistent 9-11 hours of sot on my trading days which I use MT4 on my s24 ultra.
No people with strange sounds coming from OIS probably, when recording a video and holding the phone at certain angle ? This "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrt" kind of sound ?
First let us all sing the S24 Ultra songhh.🎶🎵🎶.. U are the ☀️ my only ☀️, U make me haaaaaappy...🎵🎶🎵🎵. About the battery. I have not noticed anything bad about it.That might be because I always have multiple devices active, as of right now I'm typing in a Xiaomi 14. And the cambras on my S24U, no problem with them either. My wife looks just as lovely no matter what cambra lence that I use. Same with the selfie camera, I look gorgeous on every single picture!! ✌️✌️✌️

haha that is funnily enough what the Man Utd crowd used to sing when they had your fellow countryman Ole Gunnar Solskjær playing for them, replacing Sunshine with Solskjær 😅 Yes the battery is still 'good' but not S23U level yet for me. Great point about the cameras! If the subject is that good... Have a good one Eivind!
