I'm very surprised the quality of S22 Ultra microphones (in "piano section"). That really undermined my faith in audio-quality of Apple products. Quite a discovery!

iPhone microphones are ok/mediocre at best, their audio is excellent in terms of speakers, Airpods,etc.

I’ve noticed that huge majority of these tech reviewers won’t say anything remotely negative about the iPhone or Apple in general and it’s rare to hear any of them say that any particular phone is better not even in a specific category. Don’t get me wrong I think Apple makes fantastic products. I own a bunch of them myself. I just find it interesting how reviewers always give Apple a pass. A great example of this is The Verge, If you’ve noticed for the last few years they’ve stopped doing their end of year phone of the year award because every single year that they did, the iPhone always won no matter how many great phones came out that year and people started noticing how biased they were. Anyway I could be completely off it’s just my observation.

When you start to talk about raw photos at 8:44, you mentioned the ProRes for raw photos that Iphone has. But not a word on the Expert Raw app that Samsung S22 Ultra has that is arguably as good as ProRes when it comes to Raw photos. They are indeed the best of both world. One can't go wrong with either.

@@TT-zh4oq you are wrong. expert raw is specifically design for samsung camera hardware in mind. it doesn't work like normal app. it can shoot 16 bit raw image vs 10 bit for iphone. iphone pro res video , have you seen storage consumption. it is not even realistic approach. i bet not even 1% of apple user use that.

@T T you are really drinking the kool-aid. There are only 2 phones that can shoot 16bit raw files...samsung and Sony. This was just created, and I happen to have the apk on my s21 ultra. I have seen the limitations when editing a 10bit raw file compared to a 16bit raw file. You guys really need to stop this apple is king bullshit. That also goes for all the jpegs taken by the iPhone with that yellow film on top of every photo. I also have an iPhone and yes the video is smoother but I hate that yellow over everything...or orange. Is it just me, or are there others seeing the same thing? That's not natural as I keep hearing.

Video on s22U looks like crap especially at night

Such a great video ....never have iphone and Samsung photo video optimisation been this good in years.....they are both so good but I love the usability of s pen with all that editing

There are 3 things as apple user that make me really jealous. It‘s the AoD, the clean homescreen with Apps on the button and that the system uses a big screen better for more content.

Very true. Your home screen can be a lot more cleaner than the iPhone. But with apple the apps just work you don't have to find a workaround for apps that you are used to using if coming from apple.

this same reviewer used to criticize samsung few years ago for it’s non natural photos compared to iphone but since laster with s21 ultra,samsung takes more realistic and natural photos than the iphone(which has some yellowish tint) but she doesn’t mention it,she doesn’t praise samsung for that…that’s how you know how most of these tech reviewers are biased.no matter what samsung does,it’s never enough.This lady has been an iphone fan girl for years

iPhone 13 Pro Max is only clearly better in battery life and benchmark performance (the last one doesn't even matter). S22 Ultra blows it out of the ocean in most other regards.

Launcher, type-c port, punch hole camera, and a few small features make me stick to Samsung. Apple is a rigid, boring device and clean software experience but I don't feel excited about it.

Can't wait to get mine next Fri in Singapore ! Using a Note 20 Ultra now ... just love the screen ☺ and camera ... though I feel abit smaller in the hand .. 6.9 to 6.8 inch s22 ultra..

at 5:10 you're likely shooting with 12MP on both devices since you have to manually select the 108MP option in order for the phone to shoot with it. 108 MP packs much more detail and when coupled with the new "detail enhancer" feature which combines two photos from 12 MP and 108MP for a "best of both worlds" photo for lack of better term, it looks great. You can quickly see if the device shoot with 12 or 108 just by seeing the details of an image when viewing in in the gallery. A 12MP image will have a res of 3000x4000 whereas the 108 photo will be 9000x12000 and also a larger file size as well. Change the Display resolution of the Galaxy to WQHD+ and 120hz then zoom into photos and you'll really see quite a difference in details.

Been waiting for this.

Just letting my thoughts: iPhone telephoto is 77mm while samsung’s is 70mm, so the depth of field is gonna be similar even though they zoom differently. So, if you get close enough to the subject, both portraits are going to be similar.

Great impartial review, from someone who uses an iPhone as their daily phone thanks. I just recently bought a 13 pro and it's great but I also still like my Note 20 and use them both daily, you can't go wrong with either Apple or Samsung. The only way to get a perfect phone is to amalgamate the best of both phones. Great review. I would like to see some low light comparisons particularly night shots thanks.

@@davidgtr I think they both take great pictures, Samsung is better in some scenarios while apple is better in others, the difference is marginal.

I really miss Samsung's 100x. I used it for monocular, see people and things far away. Its not the best for taking picture but Its nice to carry a binocular to see far objects right in your pocket

pause on 10:09 - 10:11 mark when she's spinning with her brown coat. no details at all with the s22 ultra, very mushy. While iPhone retains way more detail in her brown coat. Also 10:20 - 20: 24 transition from Iphone to s22 ultra. iphone has details in her hair, and texture in her white shirt. when it transitions to s22 you can see it loses all details on her hair and shirt. goes from seeing individual strands of hair to a blobby mush.

@@NeilThePinoy I guess they both have their like perks and also preference, I see what you mean, although I do prefer the colours on the Ultra with her skin tone, jacket and also the hair, where on the iPhone it looks kind of soft brightened and washed out making her hair kinda grey ish. Also trees in the background appear rlly sharp on the ultra. However I do love the consistency of the iPhone video

You're contradicting yourself a few times in the video... First you say the iPhone 'pops' more, then you say it's more realistic/natural... Which one is it? 07:40 for example clearly much more natural on the S22 Ultra. You clearly seem to highlight things in favour of the iPhone when it suits your argument...But what else is new with this iPhone/Insta generation...

I definitely wish there was a smaller ultra model (Note style) like this s22 ultra with all the top specs. I love my new s22 ultra but it's so big and bulky! Definitely like not being part of the iPhone crowd because everyone and their mother has a freaking iPhone! The 100x camera feature is amazing. The employee at Best Buy showed me a 100x photo he took of a hot air balloon pretty high up and it was pretty dang impressive!

I'm a bit disappointed you didn't mention Expert raw. Did you even use the app? Also, I think it's not accurate to say apples raw is ahead of Samsung. There are like 2 phones with 16bit raw and the other phone is 2 grand. The iPhone shoots 10bit raw. The ability to edit raw shots on the s22 cannot be achieved with the iPhone. I just want to know how you came to the conclusion that the raw shooting on iPhone was superior to the s22 ultra?

Most reviewers only talk about the default camera app, otherwise it gets too complicated as there are many great camera apps on each platform at their respective stores. The Expert Raw app is a seperate app so is unlikely to be discussed in reviews. It is not anything other than quantifying a review, itherwise we would have to discuss iMovie on the iPhone, etc. So for point and shoot using just the native app then Expert Raw is moot, but for those in the know it is great and iphones can also download many great pro camera apps that also make it better than the native app. My conclusion is that the s22u i a better camera phone compared with last year's iphone, but the iOhone is better at videography still. I would say that is a close call and we will see if Apple can match or beat Samsung with their 2022 iPhone 14 (new lens, with better AI in the new a16 chip). I think next week the s22u will be dethroned by the OPPO Find X5 Pro and by the end of the year when Phone of 2022 is announced it will do well to be in the top 5!

Is bigger pixels better than lower aperture? Example 0.8 micron pixels with a f1.5 aperture vs 1.4 micron pixels with f1.9 aperture, which should have better nightmode and night video ?

You really should go in full detail when explaining the specs! Samsung has the ability to shoot in HDR10+ you just need to enable it, also you completely forgot about the ExpertRaw app for Samsung that allows 16 bit vs the 10 bit on Apple! These 2 additions were the part of the unveiling and you left them out! Plus they both have OLED but S22U has 1750 peak brightness and the 1hz-120hz refresh! I highly recommend a follow up video after the updates to see where Samsung stands! I already got my green S22U and im in LOVE with it!!!

I see a lot of people talking about the backgrounds on portraits being blurred out. That is a proper portrait photo. The photo should be focused on the person not the background. The 22 ultra takes pictures like a point and shoot camera vs the pro taking pictures like a professional mirrorless camera.

Hey everyone :) I haven't had a samsung in years. Is there a way to edit live images on the Samsung galaxy s 22 Ultra like on Apple, to select an alternative image and save the live image as a video? I really liked this function on Apple. Unfortunately I couldn't find an answer to my question on the internet. By live images I mean the moving 1 to 2 second images where you can still edit the key image afterwards. Thank you!

That has been on samsung for as long as I can remember.

I'm surprisingly loving the way the iPhone camera brightens up the subject. Maybe give a comparison with a brighter Samsung filter.

I've seen a few reviewers now say the iPhone 13 camera is better - I'm a photographer, I've always thought Apple does photos/camera better, trying to be as impartial as I can but I really think the S22 Ultra wins out in most of the cases. In portraits and people shots the iPhone really seems to over-process the skin and make it look a little fake and mushy and produce some odd skintones - like at 5:14 the S22 shot has much more contour and variation in the face tones and the iPhone is smoother and an odd pinkish/magenta tone. Also worth noting the nice contrast in the red trees in the background is preserved on the S22 and almost totally crushed on the iPhone. The S22 in the examples I've seen so far seems to have a generally warmer, sharper and more natural look. I'm very impressed, finally an Android camera that keeps up and IMO outperforms (in stills, at least) the iPhone. Perhaps in these times people prefer the processed/retouched look though and I'm just wrong lol

I have used both Samsung and iPhone. Although I love apple products, I think S22 is a clear winner over iPhone 13. Unless you’re in the apple ecosystem and use Apple Watch / AirTags / AirPods / iPad / Mac, the Samsung phone is just better overall and wins in many ways. Faster refresh display, triple camera setup including a 3x telephoto (unlike iPhone 13 which only has ultra-wide and main sensor), 25W charging, etc. the Samsung will just be better for general use, unless you really want iOS specific things (such as mentioned above)

I'm a Samsung/Google guy. The mic recording quality, btw, really was better on the S22 vs the iPhone. Another place the Samsung does better is in default storage space. You sometimes come with 64GB default storage in iPhone where the Samsung is at least 128GB and you can get up to 512 or 256GB depending on Samsung. Great review. The iPhone does has some unique features though and takes better photos in some cases and video too in most aspects.

I tried the 22 ultra yesterday at Best Buy and yes this maybe my next phone unless the Fold 4 gets S pen slot, Amp in power and if Samsung increased the width in the phone mode something that is comparable in size of the note series. I wish they reintroduce the aura colors of the Note 10 tho.
