In Note 9's defense 1.There's a 512 GB version available.The bloatware should be minor inconvenience with that beastly storage space . 2.why is this such a big deal? This is not a new things. 3.Samsung has showed that they don't wanna change otherwise they would have stripped it down by now.I guess the reviewers have embraced it by now and accepted the fact that complaining is not gonna address their grievances. 4.Only if the bloatware apps are trashware and serve to hog internal storage are they rubbish if they present value and satisfaction then take it as it is and make the most out of it But I agree they should give us a option to uninstall bloatware I hope android q enforces this feature,that and get rid of the squircle icons already.

Please notice 1:28 screen on sony has yellow color at the bottom but on Samsung it turns completely white. 😂 😂 😂

Also observe the color splash part....Note9 turns red color shade into orange color somehow. XZ2 Prem keeps it red.

I think it is because of their community. Their community like the old design. You can see all the comment in official Sony phone KZread channel. When sony start changing the design. Almost all of fans complaint. They want old design and it seem like sony listen to them. Their community look like old guys who doesn't like new things. (Sorry for my english)

It's amazing how the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is often better and better than Note 9! On screen, what is shown in the video neither discusses the size of the superiority of XZ2 Premium that even though it is not configured in the 6 best picture quality settings that all Xperia has! We notice and can clearly perceive a giant difference in image quality and real naturalness that the XZ2 Premium has ... If you set the Enhanced Image Adjustment and Super Vivid Mode on the XZ2 PREMIUM! The distance difference is superiority will be like the world to Jupiter ... Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium it's the best Smartphone of all time... Amazing and Incredible!

What good is a beautiful fashion designer if the smartphone is totally useless, infuncional and without having a minimum of professional quality enough for it? I already had the Iphone X 256GB and then traded for an S8 + which is much better! However! I switched smartphone again for a Xperia XZ Premium which is countless times faster, efficient, different and with many times higher quality than the two together! I am very satisfied and I will get the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium because of this! I have not yet changed SMARTPHONE yet because my SMARTPHONE is still many times better than the many of today. The Xperia are the only ones with Front Speakers in Stereo Surround, film in 4K HDR, play content in 4K HDR, have the best cameras, super Slow Motion 960FPS that was Sony that invented for Smartphones and has so much that would not like Put it all here! The Iphone X, Iphone 8+ and Galaxy S8 + and S9 + have great problems as well as the others that are based on the sayings whose design being that its functionalities are useless for filming with a long time of use because it has no place to hold correctly and the other problem is that when you hold the smartphone muffling, plugging the audio that is underneath and preventing you can listen right ... I'm talking about your own experiences! Who likes toys, dolls and amateur things! Must buy other brands that are more of the same! lol Good on you dude I think you'll get the fan boy of the year with that rant - the Sony has finally stepped up their game but I'm still getting the Note for the Note features and using pro mode camera I get shot I want. No phone camera beats a DSLR though which I use mostly for a camera.

No smartphone can beat Xz2P in low light camera and video now.

Huzaifah Empire Dude. At first Leica don't make sensors but only lenses. Second I never said the P20 Pro is better because of the Leica cooperation. The P20 Pro IS better in low light because of it's AI-long exposure. You can take up to 6sec exposures with the P20 Pro without the need of a tripod. I really don't think that Sony is beating this like seriously. No one can right now.

Huzaifah Empire Sony didn't even use any Software to support the camera? Dude, do you have any idea how a smartphone camera works? If Sony don't use any software to support the camera, the picture would be in RAW format. Hardware is important yes, but even the best Hardware sucks when the Software is horrible. Sony themself proved this all the years. The XZ2 Premium is the first phone from Sony that is on par with other flagships in terms of camera. And I should not let my ego consume my mind? What ego do you mean? To be correct, I like Sony more than Huawei. Maybe you should not let your ego consume your mind.

Richer experience and you're taking about Bixby, seriously? 😂 Sorry but the XZ2 Premium is an engineering masterpiece too, if not more than the Note 9, just AUBE and the screen are stunning to say the least. They are both excellent in their own, each one targeting different people. The XZ2 Premium is the one I'll take, and side by side, it's more elegant and beautiful than the Note 9 (personal preferences).

Liion B the black one is beautiful. The silver looks trashy though. And yeah, the design of the XZ2P is unique and satisfyingly symmetrical. What other device has the LED flash, lasee auto focus, RGB sensor, dual camera and finger print sensor all in one line in the middle of the phone? I give props to SONY for that design decision but I know for a fact they could've added a larger battery and headphone jack. They're just following the trends of killing the jack

If its the camera you want, XZ2 Premium, without a doubt. Of course you again "forgot" to mention 10bit hdr recording, extra sensitive lowlight video recording, monochrome video and photo. If you want more of almost the same as Note8, go for Note9....

Pretty Boy Flizzy Note9 is S9+ with a SPen, with installed capacitor(not even a proper battery). XZ2 Premium is definitely a serious upgrade over XZ Premium, and has mindblowing camera features. And only lacks a bt Pen(available at any store for as low as 16 bucks). But somehow PhoneArena concludes Note9 is worth the money more... Nothing unexpected from Phone Arena tho, always bias.

If you want an ugly outdated design, no OLED panel, smaller battery, no headphone jack, no s pen, less memory and less expandability go with Sony's offering. The new Sony flagship will bite the dust as their previous models. PS. And we shouldnt be forgeting about DEX and Sonys stupidly positioned fingerprint sensor.

panatha tube Yes I want this beautiful Premium design, even tho thicker, looks much more unique and Premium than Note, which looks like any other Xiaomi, Huawei, OnePlus6 phone. Yes I dont want OLED as this here 4k hdr lcd screen looks just better, sharper, richer, I do want a headphone jack, but that Pen is utterly unimportant to me as a media content consumer, memory is exactly the same for the same price, expandibility also. Maybe you meant 64 gb more storage...yap only thing Note has going for it, but seriously...you ever, ever spent entire inbulit64gb+64gb sdcard storage. I dont know anyone who ever did manage that... Sound is clear, excellent, with balanced surround (which Notes isnt) And then we come to the camera part....Note9 with its 2 year old setup is just no match to Xperia: 10bit hdr 4k video, 12800ISO extralowlight video, monochrome video, fhd superslomo, 3d scaninng, predictive capture, class leading lowlight photo, bokeh/portrait, bnw photography... Im not a noter/writer, Im a media consumer and photography lover... XZ2 Prem for me all the way...

You've already spend money on a flagship phone from last year. It's much better if you use it for a couple of years before jumping over to a new one. Me for example, I'm on a 4 year old Nexus 6 and I've had yet to see a phone that could justify me upgrading to a new phone, and that phone is the XZ2 Premium because it's very similiar to my Nexus 6 in many ways (a LOT of ways actually).

Super amoled screen hurt my eyes every time I look at it, I'm not sure why. Comparing xz2 and s9 screen side by side, xz2 screen look way more relax and natural.

Note 9 has the same sensor as the s9+ and folks dont need to bother for a camera comparison bcos the Xperia xz2 premium already demolished the competition. The p20 pro, lgg7+ and s9+ lost to sony new dual sensor and independent, not "BIASED" reviewers already done the comparison.

So hard to find a not payed off reviewer nowadays. samdung had them all the way. No wonder ppl didn't buy. All the reviews of sony phones, even the ones praising them all the way ended up with a bs, like it's not a complete packagae. Or samsung is better because it's samsung. LIKE WTF? Recumbu was my first experience with a none biashed (payed off reviewer.) Watch their XZ Premium vs S8 compersion. That's a milestone in review history.

Please provide me a single popular reviewer that's done a review on a Sony phone. They reason they don't review them is because nobody gives a damn about sony phones. Its the sad truth. They hardly sell at all and sony doesn't do any advertising whatsoever. Plus i never seen a sony phone in a best buy or in a carrier store so it's apparent their distribution is shitty compared to the competition (in the us market anyway). On top of that, that design language is horrendous. Sony was never really great at designing a sexy looking phone compared to the competition but that phone.....ew

Its not true. Its because US not interested in Sony phone, and there for Sony wont send them units to review. The reviewers has to buy the phones. Just like Erica The Technology Nerd, that likes Sony-phones hasnt done any reviews of them lately, because they are expensive. SO just like several reviewers over there, they chose to do the popular phones, wich then makes me wonder; why OPPO and One PLus wich are very small brands. They harde exist in Europe, despite that, they have to get those?

I've been a Sony phone guy for the past 6 years. arguably the best phone camera. but phones these days are so good you really have to pay attention and the average user like myself don't care about the quality anymore, they're all the same to us in this day in age. I've shown photos too my friends from all sort of Sony phones I've owned in the pass, not once they said "ooo the quality is so good".... switched over to the Note 9 because of its features (S pen and its capabilities of note taking) which i do alot in my daily life. i literally walk around work holding a pen and a small notepads....makes sense to have a note 9 to save all the information on the go

Xz2 premium is best camera and different technologies best display so I choose xz2 premium

Who wouldn't choose Sony over Samshit. Samsung lags after 5 months of use because their processing is total trash hence they require higher ram use. I went away from Samsung because of that reason and Sony has been performing the same as day 1. You will NOT regret getting a Sony.

They said Super AMOLED display is the best display ever, on paper yes, but compare to Sony IPS display, I doubt the claim. Super AMOLED = eye strain.

Okay kiddo, you're seriously daydreaming. The dynamic range on the XZ2 Premium is clearly superior, like it or not. Your Note 9 has to always use HDR to achieve great dynamic range, while the XZ2 Premium barely needs it. And if it does use it, it's just remarkable. Now let's talk about video recording at night. I wonder which one can capture the bright night sky without adding too much noise to the video. Or back to photo, which one can see something in pitch black situations.

I have both on my hand right now,those 2 phones still the beast these years,unfortunately they not get update for software,i use xz2 premium for gaming and note 9 for daily driver

I love the XZP2 but I'm definitely going to wait for the XZP3. I'm still enjoying my red XZP. The 4k is unbelievable. As you can tell, display is my thing 😎

Note 9 is a true $1000 phone. It is basically a perfect phone. You get alot more for the money. No weird compromise. Just hope there will be no exploding note 9 scenario.

I'd prefer xz2 premium but unfortunately phone carriers in America don't offer packages where you can make payments on Sony phones and I can't afford to buy one straight off the shelf.

Both great phones.But for 1000£ u can have xz2 and s9+ . One for my son( sonyfanboy) and sec for me (samsung fanboy)😁

Sony will be releasing XZ3 at IFA, probably on 30th of August. XZ3 will have the same features as that of XZ2 premium except 4k hdr display and it will have a smaller battery and much smaller bezels than XZ2. It'll probably cost around $799 and if that's the case people should find it more attractive than other phones.

Umar Farooq you're wrong, there are gonna increase their battery. Moreover, they are gonna release the most groundbreaking 48 megapixel camera on that phone, yes that's true, worlds highest resolution microcamera. Then you can judge xz3.

WTF is Sony smoking? I've seen better designed phones from 2011.

The Xperia's front honestly looks like a Note 5. Do a Google image search of "Note 5" to see what I mean.

I have to say the one thing Sony doesn't get credit for is their battery life and longevity over life of the product. I've owned so many different brands of phones. The one thing that has always stuck out with every brand except Sony is after 6 months it just doesn't last as long with 100% charge. 1 year in you really notice how you have to charge your device more than when you first got it. 2 years in and phone just dies randomly by the 20% mark and it seems to deplete rather quickly. My first Sony phone (XZ Premium) is 1 year 2 months and still only gets charged once a day with like 20 to 30 percent battery left just like the first day I bought it. I just watched a 2 hour movie on Netflix and only used 15 percent of battery life. Now keep in mind this is a 1 year old battery we are talking about. BTW Samsung phones are the worst at this. Those batteries just don't have a long lifespan even HTC was better at it.

It is hands down Note 9. The features are way too many in Note 9 for those who saw their presentation and know how to use it. Also, XZ2 may have a marginally better camera and a high res screen, but the quality of AMOLED panel blows it out of the water. If XZ2 used that super high res screen for VR though....and the XZ2 looks kinda ugly from the front. It even broke the iPhone 8 Plus's record for being a wide phone !! 128GB UFS 2.1 base storage out of the box is another key point in Note 9's arsenal.

These two phones are brilliant by themselves. For the long run, I'd trust the XZ2PREMIUM's battery to still hold charge upwards of 90% after 2 years but I can't say the same for the Note 9. The Note 9 has the headphone jack. That's a big thing to me for a phone since I'm always using it. The XZ2PREMIUM would without a doubt be my photography camera because it has such a superior camera, even compared to other flagships. It tough because I love the jack and I love the camera on the XZ2P. It's stupid SONY didn't put the headphone jack at all in this year's flagships but kept it fit their mid range

I have a XA2 ultra which is amazing although Samsung is better due to the headphone jack being louder and having a better quality. Sony needs to update their DACs used in their phones

I was a diehard so guy, but I'm not spending $1000 on that device! Samsung, take my money.

Note9 Finaly makes some sense, large battery, lots of storage, some fun features on the pen. But the XZ2 Preimum has a better screen, and a much better camera. I'll stick to Sony, But gona wait until 5G comes around.

Maybe check a camera compersion. It records in 4K HDR, Has much higher ISO for both pictures and video. Records 960 FPS in Full HD. Has predictive auto capture, and a lots of little good things that samy doesn't. Screen is simply doubles the resoultion of any samy phone. Does have HDR as well, better customisation for the screen, while it doesnot just upconverts the resoultion of the watched content to near 4k, also gets them closer to HDR too.

XZ2 premium by a long way. If I could chose, I'd have the premium in the XZ2 form factor, the screen is just getting a little too big and hard to handle, also make it so the phone would be stable on a table. I like the bezzels, small enough so not to be of issue, but large enough that I dont have to worry about accidently clicking something on the bottom or sides of the phone while I hold it, LOVE the camera with the true to life clours and the super slowmo in 1080p. The lack of a 3,5mm headphone jack is a non issue for me since I very rarely listen to music on my phone. Also I like the sony skin on top of android better than the samsung counterpart.

No matter what your choice is , these two phones is better than iPhone X 😂😂😂 , until now iPhone X is still the same price , smh 😂😂😂

Nope. XZ2P does not support VoLTE or WiFi Calling in the US. How can Sony ask for $1000 when they can't even work with the providers for these basic features? I bought it and am returning it. Pictures, while good in low light, are lacking in detail and quality. Go back to the drawing board, Sony. Figure it out.

The note 9 looks like a Modern Sony look. This is what Sony should look like. Sony really need to sort it out as Samsung beat Sony at its own game copying the look and doing it better 😔 Come on Sony tech King just come with a decent design. Premium is too bulky 😔

roberto pereira bro is note 9 has the same sensor as s9+? If so check the comparison for xz2p and s9+. Xz2p is the best camera phone to date. Matthew monis comparison, p20 pro vs xz2p proves this.

carver 9 There is no losing or winning... It helps you make a decision whether to buy one or the other. But yea I've seen u under many videos.. U seem to be a Sony hater, so your points are always against em. Just let us enjoy our beautiful product :)

AMOLED = looks pretty out of the box, but the color balance turns to junk after a year or so of usage.

You know, people talk a lot of the displays of Super AMOLED but, at least in this video, they both looked very equal except that the Note 9 has better viewing angles. The colour on both are the same, the luminance is slightly brighter on the Note 9 but the XZ2P has 16:9. I prefer 16:9 because no information is lost from the video. Here we see clearly that the Note 9's aspect ratio clearly cuts through the video and I personally don't like that

kapil busawah look at 1:28, I don't know if that's a viewing angle problem. Check it out. White on note 9 compared to sony with colors.

I'm user of Z3 for 3 year, but I'm so disappointed with design of XZ2 series.

Note 9 might be the latest smartphone with the latest technologies but still stuck with the laggy ui and bunch of bloatware. Just take a look at the speed test between sony flagship and samsung flagship.

As much as I want the Sony. Money wise, Note 9 is worth the price.

Sold my house for a galaxy note 9. All i can say is its great for outdoor use. Lol

Go with xz2 premium it's has better camera plus 4k HDR while note 9 is for note taking and drawing.

And which interface is laggyer cmon be honest Samsung owners... that framrate kills for me the game.....

The XZ Premium was the best phone of its time up until the Snapdragon 845 was released; bringing a lower resolution display and taking away the headphone jack made the Xperia XZ2 family far worse. not to mention that I hate the curved back and fingerprint sensor placement. Hopefully Sony resorts back to their old design and layout.

I just couldn't foget the day i used xperia Z that is always forceclosed the camera whenever its got hot...

960fps in 1080p but for shorter time, do your homework.

Somenone can tell me hows the sound quality (wired headphones) on the xz2P?. I have lg g6+. I only have it because of the Dac....

Sony is the best phone here... it has 16:9 and I hate this tall phone factors that 18:9 makes. Very Bias talk through. You can allready hear, this guys is allready sold on Samsung.

Sony got quality screens and cameras but okay design and too thick bezel...on the other hand ...note 9 got new designs and thin bezel but screens and camera haven't changed yet..its the same as s9+ .... ....so hard to choose ...🙄🙄

I'm skipping this phone cycle but if I were to buy a phone this year I would probably go Samsung for this cycle. I think it has a slighter edge in value. (my current phone is Xperia xz premuim)
