Great video. I love these tests. I wonder if it makes more sense to turn brightness to a standard brightness like 500 nits... since phones like the Note8 can get up to 1240 nits, which is much higher than any other, and people would normally have it more towards the middle. What do you think?

At maximum brightness Note 8 is almost 1200 nits and that may drain it faster. It will be great if you can make sure all displays at same brightness level and same resolution when running these tests.

srsgonu No. The maximum brightness of note 8 cannot be activated manually, the highest brightness that can be adjusted is about 550 nits, which is similar to the others.

@XEETECHCARE these battery videos are great, but I am not personally one to keep their brightness up at all. I think it would be awesome to make a video seeing how much battery you can pull out of each phone (specifically the note 8) with screen on at least auto brightness and whatever other battery saving ideas you have. I am a hard user of my phone and just upgraded to note 8 from Samsung galaxy s4. After years of a cruddy battery and doing everything in my power to save battery life I am used to seeing my phone on minimum brightness level in even the brightest environments. So in the interest of how long could it last, will you make a video like that?

Great test! For those who are disappointed with the Note 8's performance or who are applauding the OnePlus 5 consider this: The Note 8 has a screen that's nearly an inch taller - approx. 14% more area vs. the OP5. If you were to normalize the test so the Note 8 was running on a 5.5" display, it would have gotten at least 6:53 + 14% = approx. 7:50 (nearly 8 hours!). I'd say the Note 8 is the true winner with all things considered.

This test is kind of not really fair is it, as I doubt all phones tested here are brand new out of the box. A phone (any phone) that has been in use for a month or more, will discharge its battery at a quicker rate, compared to that same phone, brand new. I think in any future battery drain test, you really should mention the purchase date of all phones tested.

Please note that even though Samsung note 8 has a very few pixels more, we have to accept 1+5 won this test because note 8 has a newer battery and 1+5 has little bit older ones. And people should stop saying 1200 nits blindly without knowing how it works(read other comments about the 1200 nits brightness). All this with 1+5 having much lesser price! THIS IS IMPRESSIVE!

Next joke: Apple: screens make phones big so we removed the screen to make it smaller. You can buy an iProjector if you want to watch something. iTards: wow! Samsung, in your face.

Mc Kofi we are better without it, now the sound will be the same in every single phone, because every headphone is going to have its own dac, and it's not going to depend on the dac found on the phone, which is bad in most phones.

Mc Kofi Lol Apple's iPhones (more like iShit) can't even stay alive without being the first iphone to die out of ALL of the phones. (Except the iPhone x because iPhone x has a L shaped battery)

How about everyone in the comments calms down about the battery drain test not being fair. The test is to see which phone lasts the longest at its max performance

Have a re test with the note 8 scaled down to 1080p instead of using 1440p as the one plus 5 has only 1080p and obviously has an advantage

Kind of feel sorry for Samsung. In a much larger phone they had the same battery size as the OnePlus5 just because of precautions from last year. If they stuck with the 3'500mAh battery of the S8+ it probably would've done quite a bit better. OnePlus5 though is a great phone and won fair and square!

Note 8 doesn't seem to have latest update. It optimizes battery life in other tests a lot. With that update note would have won or tied with op5
