I have sold Samsung TVs (and other brands) for the past 16 years. The last four or five years I have noticed that Samsung is more concerned with cost cutting on all but its highest end models than it is with making good TV's. The double legged bases on the new 2024 7000 series models have two different positions for the legs to be installed, but the TV is not very stable. Plus, the legs no longer use screws to attach to the TV and instead rely on plastic clips. I am not impressed. I have resorted to securing the new displays down to the shelf at the feet as they seem borderline dangerously wobbly with the feet in the inner position. I personally also dislike their remotes. Just to change inputs you have to hit multiple buttons. It wouldn't be at all difficult to have a dedicated input button on the remote like LG does. Overall, I have become more and more disappointed with Samsung every year. Poor build quality gets worse every year.

If LG would get QD-OLED it would be over for Samsung and maybe even Sony albeit less likely.

I would argue all TV brands have gotten considerably cheaper in build quality. I am not impressed with the LG leg bases especially on the G3 and G4. It is highly wobbly. I get it is designed to hang, but they should have given the customer legs. As for Sony their flagship is now a mini led cause they are too cheap to make their own OLeD panels. I have a S89C and Q990C and the build quality is excellent.

I watched because the Hisense 65U75K is mentioned. Confirms my decision to buy the Hisense last week. Main reason to comment is to thank Abby, great presentation with clear explanations of the ratings.

Abby is BEST. Dont forget the Rtings Entire TEAM of ppl working behind the scenes 4 weeks straight testing the TVS collecting data too. Thats why their TV test are d MOST accurate fact based. I think the videos they take turn present it . Rtings data often OPPOSIT /in conflict of other TV influencers. Because Rtings only base on truth. They are d only one I fallow for real performance now.
Somehow it feels so depressing that half the television reviews out there seem to come down to 'not bad, needs firmware update'. Imagine if most of the TV's features weren't implemented in software...
👍Thumps up!👍 for this review.
This is an excellent review! Good job, Abby! Very engaging, informative, and funny!

I am not interested in the DU8000 TV but I will give the best rtings host an upvote.
Is that different with du8500? Any major differences?
My Samsung Q80R also had a weird looking sized gap between the screen the bezel, but it's been working great for the last 5 years and every other aspect of it is amazing. I think it's better made than my QN85B,

I am not sure exactly why but the Q80B looks better than the Q85b I have spent quite some time looking at them side by side and the Q80 does an overall better job at most everything they are very close tho. The Q80R is a great tv keep that until it breaks
I'm still on my Sony X800D, thanks to rtings for that review. 🙂

tbh im kinda impressed with the static contrast in lcd pc monitor land thats unheard of; stuck at 1000:1 for 2 decades now with few exceptions
@emillarsen1271
Ай бұрын
That's because LCD monitors mainly use IPS panels for color accuracy and response time. But the native contrast of IPS is typically very low. If you look at any monitor with a VA panel (Most Samsung Odyssey models) then the contrast is much better, although at the expense of viewing angles, response time and to some extent color accuracy.
@garrettstrutz7421

The response time on these modern VA panels has gotten really good no need for IPS anymore really
This is a $299 TV going for $529. My lord things have gotten worst.

43inch best tv for gaming as well as picture quality
If I bought any tv with a gap like that between the screen and bezel it would be an instant return.
❤Yay. Happy Abby. 😊
you test in film and warm2 modes. which might be culprits of darker picture
In India, Samsung had launched DU8300, please review that

We currently focus on the US market so we only buy and test models available for purchase in the US. Sorry about that!
I'm looking for a 55" TV under $600 with optical input for my 7.1 system. What would be best? I was told Samsung is best. Now I'm not sure. Hisense and TCL are brands I've never heard of.

It seems like Samsung and LG have been half-assing their non-Oled budget tvs for some time. Mainly just Hisense and TCL filling that void.
An honest review to make us not buy the TV😂
Abby, you're such a natural, rtings definitely have an MVP on their team. 💣 review & personally I'd go with the Hisense u7k that I own today!! We think alike. The U6GR is better than that Samsung Duhh TV. Look forward to another review ✌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

that’s the DU9000.
I got a cu8000, screen edge is same, with tacky look as was the au8000. The cu8000 is too bright across the top of the screen. Go for a 7000, with a streaming box or stick. Remote is sluggish as is tizen. Au series is still better.
Is it me or this is worse than my AU9000 that is 4 gen behind?
I’m sold!
Well, reviews would not work in most of the planet... These TVs if not sold in developed North America those would sell like hotcakes in the further south...
ads, . . . well no
Sounds like this came out a little too early.

Unfortunately with a lot of new TV releases they struggle with bugs and are later fixed with firmware updates, which is disappointing considering the price for some of the higher-end models!

stop pushing local dimming. its almost impossible to make it look good without bloom and other bending. just good contrast + good brightness is the way to go on LCD! good thing here is they improved response time. but dropped brightness further . oof
Samsung is going down hill fast🤣🤣 thank you for your time with the tvs
They have been using these crap panels for over a decade, now. Its time to stahp!
All 20 or so TVs at my gym are Samsung, they all failed with back light issues within 18 months, Samsung's are utter crap. Panasonic still make good quality TVs.
