Sample based beatmaking with Serato Sample!

Музыка

Let's make a sampled beat using Serato Sample!
A nice little sample of piano and strings gets chopped up and tuned into a boom bap beat! Nice and simple old school stuff!
I hope you'll learn something about the workflow of Serato Sample from watching this video. Be sure to hit me up with any questions you might have in the comment section!

    Just bought it yesterday and I'm doing the same thing right now (beat banging). When I tested it when it was released - I was sceptical, felt like I don't need it but I gave it a shot after I saw sale thing and maaaan DAAAMN. That's the workflow speed improvement BEAST for me! This + software like Atlas, RX950 + DAW... Good days for sample-based producers.

    About idea for new videos - some QA episodes could be interesting. But to be honest - I personally prefer videos with some plan (like a bullet list of topics you want to talk about, not 100% freestyle). It’s easier later to find specific video. So for example - episode about reverbs and delays you use (especially if you use some plugins, not platform specific ones), your favorite saturation/tape plugins and how you use them and stuff like that.

His chat had about 30-50 people online all the time. He had Superchat on as well and some moderators. Like you he has a gift for interacting with his audience while he was making his beats. Don't know if anyone in the comments knows the person I'm referring to. I'd like to see a format like that, maybe on the weekends.

    Congrats with milestones Accurate, well deserved! Yes, totally. Keeping it real and on-a-spot, with more raw footage is one feature attracts me the most. While more polished and prepped reviews take time and efforts to prepare. Watching/listening lively live music-in-making keeps you inspired, learning and "connected" while you do work or else. I think many would agree, experiencing fast paced (means as it happens in real life, including mistakes and happy-accidents) as well as casual (oppose to lectured and imposed) makes it home. We just see how _you_ do it. Enjoying your art and maybe pick something to steal into your own work flow. I was at similar dilemma (I can't do vids as cool), but would I post my "polished" release music and drafts/live/improvs on the same channel? I like sharing the second bulk, it's indeed as important as you like to get feedback on the final product. We don't want listening each other on iTunes stores, can afford better/wider experiences with new technologies :) So for me, few months back I came up with Prockjet, with resemblance to "prockjekt in making" and fast made/shared "prock jets", for my improve, wip shares on many music platforms :) Just an idea to variate name in the program name. For ex., "AcuteRate Beats" :) Means beatmaking shipped at acute rate from the mad-professor sound lab, so expect most krazy and lively art in-making in this program :)

  • @AccurateBeats

    @AccurateBeats

    5 жыл бұрын

    oh, maybe that came out wrong. I ran the signal of the sample through "Guitar Rig" that has a built in tuner. Thats where I realized the sample was out of tune. My bad.

  • @macboogieland2897

    @macboogieland2897

    5 жыл бұрын

    Ok, but either my question still stands, or i am really dumb lol I mean, i am only familiar with ableton's tuner, which only analyzes mono notes, if i'd run a chord through it, it just wont show any note at all, let alone if i do it with an entire song, thats what's confusing me. Does guitar rig's tuner work with polyphonic material, or even songs?? Thats insanely useful if that's the case

  • @AccurateBeats

    @AccurateBeats

    5 жыл бұрын

    Nah, not really. Serato sample analyzes the track and identifies the overall key of the song but the way I use the tuner in Guitar rig it much less complicated. I just apply it to the group where my samples are, then I play my chop over and over again through the tuner (which just finds monophonic notes, as a normal tuner). Sometimes it helps to add a reverb to the slice and let the tuner try to find the pitch, sometimes I run it through a LP filter to make it even easier. I did this process for some of the slices and realized a lot of them where way off center. Many slices where detected as to be A# but super way off the "exact A#". I saw a pattern and felt the need to return the sample (as shown) and it was way closer to perfect pitch after that. So... No special tuner... Just a bit of cheap tricks and a lot of patience.

    Thank you! I really likt chopping my samples with just the Maschine MK3 hardware. I really enjoy the tactile feeback you get from using knobs for that kind of stuff. At the same time, I really love the way Serato Sample gives me realtime time stretching and pitch shifting. It really makes it possible without getting any artifacts or noises in the audio. It's just a different workflow and the automatic "find samples" function comes in really handy from time to time.

    i hate to say it, but i hate the voice that says 'accutate beats' in the intro it's like the worst producer tag i ever heard and therefore at the same time it's the worst youtube intro i've ever heard not even sure how it is possible to be both overall great beat, but i would love to see more then 1 instance from serato sample working together, like maybe chop up a break as well, in addition to the sample?

    yeah, I know... The "producer tag" isn't the nicest but it is taken from an episode of "Sonic Talk Podcast" where the youtube music tech nerd king of all time Nick Batt was mentioning my name so.. Its kind of an homage to him at the same time?... :/ I was thinking of using a couple of instances of Sample for this video but I ended up just keeping the drum samples I picked since I had a struggle getting the bassline to work. Thanks a lot for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
