1987. This is an interesting version, but I'll keep looking.
Жүктеу.....

You know you're watching a great musician and entertainer - when not just the audience gives him a standing O, but the band gets on their feet too. Why don't we have phenomenal entertainment like this today? Sammy - come back and dance - please.

...his dedication to Jerry and his fundraising efforts was so completely selfless, but his reaction to the record-breaking change in tote is priceless.

This was fantastic. I think it's a crime that the MDA fired Jerry and cancelled the telethon.

Yes he was fired but they didn't cancel after he was fired MDA took in another direction which after a couple years it then went off the air. When Jerry was doing Telethons I was working the local telethon in LA.

I was very disheartened to learn that the telethon will be cut to only 6 hours. Even more disturbing was the fact that the press release on the MDA website had no comment from Jerry Lewis. In fact the press release didn't even mention him at all!

Interesting version? What? this is live. Probability no. or very little rehearsal. The man is a super talent. And look at the joy in the room. Jerry is on the side rocking, and at the end Sammy crying. Come on. And someone please explain again why Jerry was thrown off the telethon? By the way - where is that telethon now? How much money has it raised since Jerry left?

There was no room for Jerry's telethon in a 140 character world. It was reduced to an hour and was soon stopped. I read somewhere what happened to Jerry, but I can't remember.

Absolutely superb perforamnce, but man, what a shame it was in the context of a tacky, cheesy telethon!
