@@Greg042869 Michael is one of the most underrated guys in rock! He can play his ass off and sing his ass off. He never got the credit he should have for his contribution to VH. Eddie and Alex are two of the greats musicians of all time and they had an equally talented bass player. Never heard either one of the VH brothers ever say anything good about Michael or Sammy. Michael took in the ass from the VH brothers on the last tour and signed a waiver to never get royalties again from his efforts in the band. Hell they even took his image off of the website and other stuff. Says a lot about the VH brothers. Sammy is a class act and it is no surprise that Sammy and Mike are BFF's.

Sammy's autobiography "Red" is one of the best books I've ever read. I hate reading and rarely read books, but I couldn't put it down and didn't want it to end. I almost felt like I was having beers and bullshitting with him, it was that good.

Van Halen never had a #1 record until Sammy Hagar came along. I'm a die hard Hagar fan no matter what, But... Did or do I love Dave with Van Halen too? Of course, but Sammy shows dedication still to this day, always playing and making more new music. At the end of the day, I wanna see a real THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS Van Halen Reunion with a full line up of Sammy, Dave, Ed, Mike, Al. Both Hagar and Roth fans as 1 can sell out arenas, have a duel new CD / Record, Tour, Apparel, Huge Superbowl Show, and tons mo,re. That full Reunion could dominate today's music as well, I believe. NEW DVD / BLU-RAY covering all the years of Sammy/Dave VH.

Here we go with that same old number 1 album bullshit that Van Hagar fans love to cling to. 1984 went number two....behind THRILLER. If any of the Van Hagar albums got released at that time the same thing would have happened. The first album and 1984 both went diamond. Name me one Van Hagar record that did.....oh you can't. Look, I don't even mind Hagar but the way his fans desperately blurt shit out to try and gatekeep for him gets annoying. The original Van Halen will always reign supreme....It's an undeniable fact.

Never had a number 1 record? First....who gives a shit. Really, you think having the best selling record means anything artistically by itself? You want to have a discussion about completely worthless number 1 albums? There's a lot of them. Hell, Milli Vanilli had a number 1 album during Van Hagar's heyday. Second they had a number 2 record before Hagar that was huge and their career was at it's peak when Hagar joined. Third with Roth they were a rock band, with Hagar they became a straight up pop band. No doubt the Hagar era expanded VH commercial appeal with all those sappy ballads but so what? I never bought a Van Hagar album, too pop and I'm not a rock ballad guy but I still love those early VH albums.

On albums I enjoy Dave's personality based "singing" way more than Sammy. It's all personality, and fits with that good time VH music better. However, it's quite clear that Sammy is the superior vocalist (by far), especially if you listen to Dave croak out tunes these days.

It wasn't Dave's vocals that made him great, although they were great for those early VH records. It was his shtick. I still laugh when I hear Unchained and the guy in the booth goes "give me a break Dave". Those early VH records were so funny and fun. Hot For Teacher? When Dave says "I don't feel tardy"? That's just funny. I much prefer Dave in VH. At least in their prime.

Van Halen’s best days we’re behind them when David Lee Roth left. Most artists only have a certain creative shelf life or are in that zone of creativity for so long. I just think people refused to let Van Halen go and stubbornly rebelled while pursuing inferior music. The David Lee Roth hate was about losing something more then anything. Ain’t Talkin Bout Love, Runnin With the Devil.. those songs rocks then and now. The Sammy Hagar years.. forgettable.
