i don't know if his daughter knows this very poignant story about him coming to Baltimore 3 times during his run in Golden Boy, to cheer up my neighbors 12 year old daughter, who had lost an eye to a tumor. In my opinion, he saved her life, HE IS A PERSONAL HERO OF MINE.

I went to school with Jeff Davis and Tracy, at Zephyr Cove, in Tahoe. Mrs, Davis went on all of our class field trips. I had no clue Mrs,. Davis had been an actress until I became an adult. She dressed in a blouse and jeans, with a bandana on her head like all the mom's that came on these class trips. It's kind of neat to go on the internet and get a peak at what people look like as adults that you went to school with. And good job on the book Tracy.

I lived across the street in Tahoe across from Tracy, her brother's Mark and Jeff, and of course their mom, who still went by Mai Davis even though by then she was divorced. A great mom and very generous woman.

In 1972 or 71 the Sheriton Waikiki had its grand opening and I lived in Waikiki and was 16 yrs. old. I was checking the place out just walking through and rode an escalator up to the second level where the ballrooms were and Sammy Davis Jr. was performing. I had no ticket but slipped in sideways through the waitresses entrance and watched the master. His voice was and is the strongest most charismatic in the Industry. Wow is all I could say and of course George, his arranger was on piano. He actually sang 'Paint It Black ' by "two of my best friends, Mick Jagger and Mr.Keith Richards". That's the truth, how cool !

Thank you so much for this! I have wondered what happened to Tracey - who I remember from decades ago. Sammy had written a book that I still have - it has fallen apart because I've re-read it, over and over - and it has been one of my cherished possessions. With all of the traveling that our family has done through the years, it has suffered from the jolts of moving. I adored Sammy and Mai together. It was PERSONAL for me to see them together. The courage that they displayed.....you don't even KNOW. God bless Tracey. She has turned into a remarkable woman. I am SO happy to hear about this book :)

I met sammy in Los Angelis in 1983 on Radeo Dr. There were just a few people that approached him and ooooooh myyyyyyy...he was aloof, standoffish and very cruel. He told us to take a hike and let me say that we were not swarming him, if anything we were being very respectful of his privacy and he just dismissed us which I remember not being more than 5 people . He crushed the love and respect we had for him.

What brought me here was a Late Night Movie, The Young Lions, 1958, which included a very sultry May Brit (Tracy’s mom) as a German political wife. She did fantastic in this role, and I am quite sure she could have been a force in Hollywood had she not opted to devote herself to raising those three kids as normally as possible. It kinda irks me, all the accolades about Sammy. I mean, yes, of course, he was very talented. But it was May, who did the important work! Does anyone know what Tracy died of? Age 59 is very young….

Sorry, this is not the real Tracey Davis, daughter of Sammy Davis, Jr. The real Tracey was my next door neighboer for a few years in Simi Valley California, and my daughter Tara, who was about four years old at the time Sam (son) was born, use to pretend babysit for Tracey and Guy (her husband at the time). The Tracey I remember from thirty years ago was a very petite woman who (face) was a spitting image of her father Sammy Davis Jr. I doubt that I will get any response to this. My daughter, is still friends with Sam (the grandson) all these years later.

Don't know what looks "mixed" about her hair. Looks straight out Swedish. It was dark when she was younger. Everybody's going blond these days. She was very cute as a little kid though.

Interracial marriage is wrong and it's a shame her mother had to lose her career because she made a mistake. Sammy Davis, Jr had an ongoing affair for years with Lola Falana which is what caused her parents divorce. Interracial marriage does not work. And it's also worth mentioned Tracey died young, too. No cause of death has been released.

sHERREE LANGLEY My two words were not directed to you. I just wanted to know the reason behind "selfish." In those days you had to be brave to marry a person of color, the truth be told. I asked "how come" referring to that persons comment of their being selfish. They were in love what is selfish about that? There was no bravery in referring back to you!

Sammy Davis was not born in Africa, nor were his parents, so he is not African. Most Black men like pro sports players, actors, etc. were introduced to white women to keep the money in the white community. They we're afraid that if a Black man with wealth married a Black woman, they would share the wealth with other Black people. Watch interviews with Magic Johnson. They would not let him invest in Chicago, but they finally let him and his group invest in radio stations. So he bought as many as he could. Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, Mike Singletary, OJ Simpson, Don Cornelius, etc. married to white women, who have control over their wealth.
