Peter was treated very badly by certain people and it broke his spirit -only Sammy remained loyal to Peter RIP Peter and Sammy

Interesting. I think these two shared a sense of being outsiders. They were, definitely, chums. Thanks.

Lawford an outsider? Attractive when young but moderately talented, he was consistently employed for decades, a senior-level flunky to Sinatra, and brother-in-law to JFK.

Sammy got along with everyone. Over the years he took a lot of black put downs and laughed everyone of them off. That would never fly today.

At that time there were race riots all the time really a lot like today. It isn't the jokes really, it's the class of people telling them. Bill Burr tells stronger material as does Jeff Dunham through his puppets.

Lawford had become dissipated looking in the early 60s, and he subsequently lost weight and changed his style; he made two Salt and Pepper spy comedies with Davis that were moderately successful.

Oh let me tell you a story abt peter Lawford. he dated this black lady in early 80's that i knew. she was my friend's mom. she met him in a bar in long beach ca. I came by their apt one day and met him. I did not know who he was, i was 14 - 15 yrs. old. He was to me an old washed up drunk white man. He told me his name, i went and asked my dad, and my dad said - oh the MF is a loser. My friends mom was very pretty lady, tragically she died from drunk driver, he came to funeral no one knew him. He gave her daughters 5000.00 he did not have much. She left behind 3 girls. He kept in touch until abt 3 yrs until he died
