Once again, we see the Greatest Entertainer at work. The Hollywood of today is lost.

Thanks for posting, the gentleman playing the bongos is my late uncle Johnny Mendoza who passed away on September 1990 of lung cancer. Words cannot express the feelings one gets when these clips are brought back to life. Thanks to You Tube and for JoeWellington for posting these priceless precious memories!

Crazy speed with his hands. I'm a little surprised Sammy didn't throw in a few taps to compliment it at the end.

After this performance, I ran out and bought a set of bongos and a "learn to play" record.... this is what one would call, true entertainment. Wow!

The true measure of this genre of talent becomes delightfully evident when the artist requires little, if any acompanyment! To my mind, very few performers can "cut it" alone, live, out on stage, with so little help! Sadly, we don't get to see or hear enough of this caliber of talent and ability today!

Pity Mr Sammy Davis Jr is quite unknown in France, but "West Side Story" is too. World changes, I wish great people such as these -including Mr Johny Mendoza- were not forgotten in France and Europe as well

By the way I made a mistake, liver cancer was his undoing, not lung cancer. His sister Marina died of lung cancer a year earlier, she was my Mom.

Sorry for your loss. So, Sammy Davis, Johnny Mendoza, and Sammy's drummer, Michael Silva, all passed on in 1990, within mere months of each other. Heaven must have a nice band with those gentlemen on board. R.I.P. to all.
