Samba Pa Ti • Carlos Santana Cover • by Andreas Geffarth • My Favorite Songs • No.47

Музыка

"Samba Pa Ti" is one of the beautifully melodic instrumentals by Carlos Santana that sparked my passion for guitar playing in the mid-1980s. The piece came out in 1970 on the Santana album "Abraxas", but I only got to know it many years later. But I was really overwhelmed by the TV broadcast of a concert by Carlos Santana and his band, which took place on April 6, 1987 in the "Palast der Republik" in former East Berlin. It was phenomenal and it still is for me. But the version I played here is completely acoustic, which makes the lead guitar playing with thick strings (D'Addario 012-053 phosphor bronze) an absolute finger-breaker song. Ouch! I played the accompaniment under the first part of the piece shortly beforehand on my Maton with a few chords and an additional bass line in my loop station. As you can see, the accompaniment for the second part is created directly and live in the middle of the song. Since you can only record something new with my loop station (Boss RC-1) if you first delete the old one, the take had to work completely the first time, since the previously recorded accompaniment was then deleted again. I can tell you: Unfortunately, it only worked the second time! Sigh! But I'm very happy with it because, as always, there is no editing or post-processing in the video! Just live! I hope you like it!? This video is number 47 in my KZread series "A Couple Of Songs I Wish I Had Written Myself" and I play it the same way I usually do "live on stage". Have fun watching!

►Andreas Geffarth:
Hi! I'm a German singer, guitarist and songwriter and I love music and my life as a musician. After 35 years of making music in front of a live audience, it wasn't until January 2022 that I had the thought of being also able to share my music online with people all over the world; what a great and exciting idea! And so I now publish new self-made videos with songs from my repertoire on my KZread channel every week. Learn more about me on my website andreas-geffarth.de

Amazing! I’ll never live long enough to be that good but it was a joy watching you and having so much fun doing it. No matter what level we’re at, if you take the fun out of it then the love goes away too. Thanks for sharing your talent with me.

Richtig cool!

Hey... thank you very much for your super-nice comment! 😃 I'm really happy that you like my video so much! 😎 I'm also really proud myself that I managed to do the video in one take and you know what, I succeeded on the second try! 🤓 I absolutely had to succeed because the preparatory work was very time-consuming and my fingers wouldn't have been able to do it again! Ouch! 😅 I recorded the accompaniment to the first part of the song myself beforehand, but only on my very simple "BOSS RC-1 Loop Station", which I also work with live on stage. So I first recorded the guitar chords with my acoustic guitar and then overdubbed the bass line with the acoustic guitar. Then I started the video recording and played the melody to the loop station accompaniment. But in order to create and record the second part with all the percussions etc. (so-called live looping), I had to delete the previous recording of the accompaniment to the first part of the song and then record everything else with the loop station. If I had made a mistake, I would have had to start the entire job all over again! 😝🤪 So all I had in my head was: "Andreas, you can do it... keep going until the end!!!" 😄 Unfortunately there was one wrong note almost at the end, but I didn't care and uploaded the video anyway. After all, I am a human being and not a machine! That's why I can make mistakes sometimes... that's human. By the way, a few weeks ago I uploaded a very old video of myself playing "Samba Pa Ti" as a 19-year-old avid Santana fan with my band and on the electric guitar in 1991. Please take a look at and tell me what you think! 😃 This is the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e3eFqbqEXbPVXdo.htmlsi=dzR4PfF5vlPSqAqT Thanks and kind regards, Andreas 🙋🏽‍♂️

Aua! 🤲🏼😬😝😅 Also… sei lieber nicht neidisch! 😜
