"HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - After months of shadowboxing from afar, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and Cynthia Nixon clashed up close in a heated debate on Wednesday that featured sharp attacks, flashes of frustration and two competing visions for the Democratic Party and New York.
They fought over standing up to President Trump, the subways, releasing their tax returns, health care policy and corruption convictions in the Cuomo administration. For much of the hour, they jabbed and counterpunched, talking over each other repeatedly and accusing each other of distortions, as Mr. Cuomo said Ms. Nixon lives in “the world of fiction.”
“Can you stop interrupting?” Mr. Cuomo said to her at one point.
“Can you stop lying?” Ms. Nixon snapped back.
Mr. Cuomo paused. “As soon as you do,” he answered."*

That’s when you vote for the candidate that’s better than the other. The time to achieve better progressive/left movement in the party is during the primaries . Jimmy DORE is a fucking moron who has insane backwards theories that not voting for the better candidate in general elections , thereby making the worst candidate more likely to be elected somehow will pull the party left . It’s a ridiculous dogshit theory that’s based on a childlike understanding of politics and has caused horrible outcomes in this country that hurt people .

No better than the libertarians who think only restaurant managers should run. The "professional politicians" seem to gravitate to douchebag careers. I'd rather have an intelligent ordinary person who has run for local office and built up to higher office levels. Even at a higher office, they don't need a lot of practical government knowledge as long as they are intelligent, ethical, humble and hardworking. Day-to-day government is what consultants and career bureaucrats are for. Government will mostly run itself as long as fratboys, zealots and corrupt entitled egotists are kept to a minimum.

Hillary ran to beat Trump, and she didn't bring an army, cause her rally speech was directed at Corporate interests, and the people all shook their heads and laughed. The problem with centrists is that they simply don’t *know anything.* I hate the far-right with a *passion,* but what I will give them is they at the very least are politically savvy. While we disagree with their interpretation of what should be done politically or economically, they at least know enough to engage in discussion. Because they at least know the framing of the discussion, they are much easier to convince to our cause (assuming their political beliefs are based in economics or politics, not racism or fascism.) Centrists do not know ANYTHING. All you have to do is watch this video to see that. This entire video is Sam explaining basic shit that every leftist already knows. Find me one leftist or person on the far-right who doesn’t see the problem with dark money or corporate endorsements, and I’ll find you a dozen centrists who share the sentiment. Then, because centrists believe they’re on some holier-than-thou nirvana-state yin-and-yang shit, they’re absurdly passionate about their lack of ideals, making them annoyingly difficult to persuade particularly if they argue in bad faith or from a position of emotion, as the caller does here.

It's never "the right time" for Democrats not to be corporate to these people. The caller should study historical maps and see what has become of the Democratic Party since 1994. Corporate Democrats have all but handed the midwest to Republicans. Along with more power in general for the GOP at virtually every level in any 25 year period since the 1920's. ( Or the 1880's in some cases. ) Just be honest caller, you don't care about real people or everyday issues. You are fine with a permanently corrupt sell-out GOP-lite party. One which doesn't represent middle and working class Americans, and just plays to identity politics as a substitute for real representation. The caller does not even understand about building support for change over time. "But we can't run on issues until we have majorities everywhere. And then we will water them down anyway............" :(

Can we stop calling these people “centrists”? Because they’re center of a pretty right wing conservative (except when it comes to blowing up that military budget!), oligarchy serving political party. Center right or “classical” conservative is a better term.

@grant macneil Obama didn't run as a centrist. He ran as a populist who would end the wars in the middle East , give us a public option, repeal the patriot act, repeal bushs tax cuts, regulate wall street and kick lobbyist out of Washington. He ran as a populist then governed as a centrist. That's why the democrats lost a thousand seats in local and state elections and They lost the house under Obama. Then they lost the Senate. If centrist is what people really wanted none of this would have happened.

This episode is so old and obsolete as to be irrelevant. AOC has been far more than a backbencher. She's like a comet. I've been around a long time and I've never seen anything like her. She's an internet phenomena. In fact I would say she's a new kind of politician who knows how to use social media better than anyone else including Donald Trump. Three months into her first term in any elected office and she's on the cover of Time magazine. Everyone knows who she is. Even Donald Trump can't ignore her. Saying she's just another politician is like saying a diamond is just another rock.
