@@25Dzone I think people were divided over the studio version but a lot of people enjoyed how he brought it to life on stage with his voice and personality during his rehearsals and the final especially with the guitar solo. His Jury Final was phenomenal.

I don't think any UK Eurovision fan could be more proud of Sam Ryder tonight, superb performance and what a fantastic ambassador he has been for the UK throughout. Humble, kind, honest and unique. Cruel to miss out on what I think we know should have been a rightful win, but...couldn't have asked for any more effort from the guy tonight. Hopefully the BBC have had a wake up call this year on what actually wins Eurovision contests and we start to see some actual thought and effort put into it from now on, as they seemed to this year...carried really by a fantastic singer.

We are definitely proud of Sam! His efforts definitely will not go unnoticed. I think credit should also extend to Tap Music for convincing Sam to do it. I feel this BBC x Record Label partnership should continue as I think this is a way forward in the selection (as we Brits cannot be trusted with our votes lol). I totally agree as well that BBC should put more effort than before now to sustain this momentum.

It still just feels so surreal that this was our UK act for 2022. I followed it entirely the whole 2022 season, watched it live, watched the rehearsals.... it feels like a surreal figment that this actually happened.

I think this song’s real triumph wasn’t just getting the UK to second place in the contest, but also its sticking power. I’m still hearing this on the radio and it’s the only Eurovision song I’m still listening to months on from the contest. Bloody excellent stuff.

Getting 0 Points last year to coming 2nd the next must be one of Eurovision’s best comebacks 🇬🇧

Last year when I first heard this song my cousin was fighting for her life after an accident. Doctors said she wasn't going to make it and ask for her organs to be donated. I wanted to pray for help but didn't know how as I don't have any religion. Just listened to this song over and over as it made me feel I was connecting with something elevate. We don't know what happened but soon she started to get better and after a few days she woke up and she is still with us...

When I heared this song the first time it gave me a warm feeling and - I do'nt know why - sort of hope, touched something inside. Maybe this also happend to you. Sam Ryder is a extremly positive person with high star quality and the composition is wonderful, this mix of Elton John, The Beatles, his own personality and good rock music.

I am from Ukraine, I would like to thank everybody who voted for my country, this win means a lot for us. But I personally feel that in a different circumstances Sam should have won. For me this song was the best and deserved to win, Sam’s voice and energy is everything, it melted my heart and I listed to it on repeat . I hope that he will come back next year and bring Eurovision to UK 🇬🇧.

Oh…you are hosting? I see a lot of ESC Fans getting new passports 😁 (a shame that we need them now). But good for you. This entry was the proof that the UK did not get so few points, because of the Brexit or everyone hating them (lots of comments in the past years seem to believe that), but because of the songs you sent. Now you sent a great singer with a great song and we were most willing to call for you 😎 Next year just send Ed Sheeran or Adele and everything will be good 😁

Me neither. I had 11 years with my late dog watching it and we were awful. This year was my first with my new dog. I can't wait until next year when we host and hopefully come in the left table with a great song

Sam Ryder is one of those special singers that does what he wants with his voice. In this live performance he didn't stick to the "studio version" and he surprised us with some good variations. Nice electric guitar in the end by the way. Finished 2nd overall with 466 points, 283 of witch from the juries.

l just learnt a line dance choreographed by Debbie Rushton in honour of Sam Ryder. lt's a beautiful dance with the steps perfectly in sync with the song and l was going through the steps in my mind while savouring Sam performing the song joyously with his long locks giving him the golden boy image...plus shades of Freddie Mercury and Brian May rolled into one! Amazing talent that does the UK proud, fresh from his Eurovision success!

this is fine example that Europe hasn't been "biased against UK" like some people have claimed, you just have been sending bad/generic songs. same goes for Spain this year. last year Italy and France from big 5 got to see that all it takes is to send good song. and i am glad Brits see this also as a positive thing. Sam Ryder is the real winner for me personally (and i am no tiktoker). his song has been blasted on radio here (non UK) and surely he'll have awesome time touring and his songs being on charts.

@@banger2998 Yeah it's surely been issue, idk if they've tried play safe. Like last year, i don't think it deserved zero. Guy had nice voice, song was fine, but not something you'd remember few minutes later because there's dozens of similar songs and nothing strikes out. This will do plenty good for ESC (as well as Spain doing well too) and for UK of course. This and Moldova will def stay on my playlists. Both songs just make me so happy.

This songs never gets old, still regularly come back to this video. Sam Ryder’s range is incredible and he’s such a genuine guy too. Wish I could’ve been there to see this live, I bet the atmosphere in the arena was incredible during this song!

Sometimes a winner doesn’t need to win a contest, they just need to make you smile. Found myself grinning with him during that. He’s won me and millions of others. That’s a true champ. Get in, Sam. Get in. 🇬🇧

@@therealdrachi12 Perhaps for him to say but I think he did it as a trick to build up his confidence. Same with when he said "alright", ad lib. He definitely had to push his range in the section before the solo (in a way we hadn't seen on the studio version of the song).

I think a huge amout of people wanted your country to win to show unity and support and the result should be accepted with the spirit with which it was intended. I'm sure Sam would not want to take that away from Ukraine and is thrilled with the result - after all we're usually somewhere at the bottom! With love to you from the UK.

Like imagine Ava Max against Ed Sheeran against I dunno Stromae (Belgium) against Edith Piaf (la vie en rose, France) against Zedd (Germany) against Of Monsters and Men (Iceland, little talks) against Lukas Graham (Denmark) and honestly I could go on with these. It wouldn’t be a singing competition anymore but a popularity contest, and that would be unfair. (Theres a reason Mika doesn’t participate but is a Jury member, if Mika participated between these less known artist he would have won too)

They would have sent more of those but don’t always have them to represent a flag on a bigger level. Eurovision is a mess which exists in its own universe and people either learn how to enjoy its senseless glory or not.

Yes, UK IS THE REAL WINNER. Ukraine should have never even competed knowing how unfair it would be. They could've still had a performance (after the Måneskin show for example) but they should've dropped out of the competition. This "win" is only making people feel negative about Ukraine.

British record labels/A&R people don't allow their artists to do Eurovision, it's seen as a detriment. Sam was a one off by the looks of it.

As a Brit I’ve started to feel a bit isolated from the European community what with the events of the last few years… so to see all the UK love from other Europeans in the comments is really lovely. Thank you all 🇬🇧🇪🇺

Heaven forbid that the European people want to send their love and support to the Ukraine and share a bit of hope during such a dark time. He didn't go full out with this song, but he is probably the best voice to have ever graced the Eurovision stage. Check out Tiny Riot and his Tik Tok covers. I think he should have slayed it for all eternity with a song like those instead.

This is for me the best performance ever on ESC. It has everything. Great vocals, great energy and a tremendous guitar solo to finish it all up. Goosebumps

Yeah, sadly they had to get rid of a verse and go from the Intro to the Chorus as they have a 3 minute limit. If you listen to the song on Spotify, you will hear the full version :). He technically won as the professionals voted for him but as with any public vote in place they go for the pity vote. I agree Ukraine was good but not a winner.

It was #2 in the charts, I think it may climb to number one and sell a million after the extra exposure of the jubilee concert. Sorry they'll be on-one else there who can sing like that.

Don’t think he’ll get number one because of Harry Styles. If Harry Styles album had come out any other time of year Sam would be #1 for sure

I never comment on KZread, I'm not the type. But this song honestly made me re-awaken the love for music, in an almost a childish joy of hearing something beautiful for the first time. Saying anything else would be useless. Love from Italy

He's giving me very big Elton John and Freddie Mercury energy with his marvelous vocals and stage presence, not to mention his outfit is magnificent and his hair is that of an epic rock Viking. Sam, you're number one in the hearts of all of us in the UK, and did us proud, truly. I hope there's a bright future ahead of you in the music industry.

Я тоже увидела многое от Фредди Меркури. Который для меня эталон и один из лучших. Хотя голос совсем другой,но что-то он перенял,но не испортил ,просто использовал и сделал чем-то своим. Не вижу в этом ничего плохого учиттья у самых лучших. Это скорее одна школа и музыкальная традиция. Я смотрела другие его видео,где он самовыражается и поёт песни других исполнителей в режиме музыкального экстпромта. У этого парня широкий диапазон и он легко импровизирует. Я думаю ему определено блестящее будущее,и публика его должна любить за его голос талант и харизму. Для меня лично на Евровидении он в большом отрыве от других номер один.
