Sam Rayburn Bass Fishing Report 4 22 19 Big Bass Splash

This is the last Sam Rayburn Bass fishing report we will get up before the Big Bass Splash, formerly known as the McDonald's Big Bass. Got to spend a little time on the water Saturday with River Lee of the SFA FIshing team and then with my brother in law Charles "Ed" Geary trying to catch a few crappie. The bass fishing was hot and heavy early on chatterbaits and then a Carolina rig, then we caught several a little later in the morning on frogs. Crappie fishing, at least out deep, is still pretty spotty, we probably should have tried to fish over the grass but in the area we were in there's not a ton of good grass right now. See everyone this weekend for the Big Bass Tournament!
Guys MAKE SURE your:
Running Lights work
You have a throw cushion
Your boat registration is current
You have a life jacket on
You have a kill switch attached
A valid Texas Fishing License
You have a fully charged and functioning fire extinguisher...

Hello Mr Smith I have just started watching your videos and have enjoyed them and the info just heard you say you where going to fish with Moonpie he is my cousin I am from Lufkin and also love to fish I spend most of my time on Nacogdoches and I would like to take you one day I caught a 11.72 and a 10.02 last week but the 10.02 had about a pound and a half white perch crammed down his throat or he would not have made double digit but any way maybe I will see y'all at Rayburn fishing the big bass splash and tell my cousin hello and good luck to y'all

We got in from Kansas last night, went out this morning caught 7 fish total had two over 3lbs so nothing crazy. Mostly on xd cranks and jigs. Deep as u said 8-15’
I been chomping at the bit waiting for this report lol! Definitely safety is the biggest concern all of us should have, I heard their could be as many as 8,000 to 8,500 entries!

Nice report. For 30 years I've been a Shimano guy, (respectivley). I recently shifted to Lew's .. I just added a third Lew's reel to my arsenal..... Its a BB1 Pro in 6.4:1 for crank baiting.. Ken, you and Tylersreelfishing sold me on it. LOL ! I shopped online and at Academy...the best price on a new one was at Amazon. @ $157 It casts like a dream and out performs other reels when throwing a 1/4 oz crankbait into the wind.

It’s Tournament MB Speed Spool LFS, model of that one is TS1SMB which is 5.6:1 gear ratio, probably better idea to get TS1HMB which is faster, 6:8:1. Also couldn’t remember the price point on that rod, it’s only $79!!! Model MHCRR

Ken, We are coming up to Rayburn, again the week of 4/29/2019 I have a question about the inflatable life jacket, and getting a ticket. Can you confirm the inflatable life jacket for me . I do wear the inflatable just do not want to get a stupid ticket. We are on vacation so no tourney fishing just fun fishing . Thank you in advance for the help and love the videos
