Sam Long Lab Testing: VO2 Max/Ramp Test
Yo Yo Yo! In this video I take you inside the Wahoo Sports Science center for my mid-season lab testing. This is a raw video. I show the whole test with lots of data and numbers. I hope you enjoy. Big thanks to Wahoo for being a great partner.

His relative VO2max should have come out to approx 72.28 if he was 83kg in weight, or 74.07 if he is 81kg. I am not sure what his current weight is - just used the weights listed in his bio. They posted his Absolute VO2max at the end of the test - 6.0 Liters (not sure if they were rounding off). You multiply Liters by 1000 to convert it to mL, then divide by his weight in kg, which then gives you the more familiar relative VO2max in (mL/kg/min).

Yeah I would say VO2max of 73.2 ml/kg/min, based on a short shot of the main data screen at around 23:26, which had his absolute VO2 at 4.68 (L) and relative VO2 at 57.1 (ml/kg/min), which would assume a weight of 81.96kg, so assuming absolute max of 6000ml we would get 73.2 relative VO2max.

Low 70's is national class but not world class. Nordic ski racers hit the 80's. Greg Lemond says he was near 90. Long must have a very high 'threshold'.

No, what happens is because it is with no warm up there is a normal resting amount of lactate resting in the blood.
