Sam LaPorta was the first of the Lions' 2023 rookies to stand out. Day 1 in shorts, people raved about how smooth he was, like a giant wide receiver. And those hands! Goff says he's never seen a tight end with better hands. Everything plucked out of the air.

Trading down for Gibbs and getting the 34 pick for compensation,La Porta. Thank you Brad Holmes.

People need to stop this “Future Top 5 TE” nonsense. Guy is already a Top 3 TE in the league and was just a rookie. He is only going to get better.

Watching the highlights helps take the edge off of our not making the Super Bowl. (I live in the Bay Area. These past few days have been rough.)

Sam LaPORTA was a homerun draft pick, I had him on my draft board along with Gibbs, Branch and Campbell. He is a super star as a rookie, I can't wait to see his improvement over the off-season and training camp. This was another awesome draft class, Im looking forward to this next draft because we will fill the spots that are not yet clear and sure up the entire team with depth.

I see a future superstar tight end in Sam LaPorta who had an awesome rookie season with 86 catches for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is very physical and can play on a high level. He is a route runner who catch passes to beat his opponents. He is learning from the best who has played this game before. Soon he is gonna be in the top 10 as the best tight end to play in the league

Traded the 6th pick with AZ, picked up 12 and 34. 12 was used on Gibbs and 34 was used on Sam. I am. Once again, thank you Stafford LOL

Wow the offensive coordinate for the lions is worth the money. Scheming laporta open constantly. This is as much a coordinator highlight real as a Laporta highlight real. Constant blown coverages. The job of the coordinator is scheme ways to get people open and wow, laporta is constantly open with no one within 6 yards of him.

He can play but there are a bunch of tight ends that can play that just arent used properly

Maybe not coached properly. Good position coaches that can mold a player are a rarity. Some teams are fortunate to get players that don't need a lot of instruction. Like LaPorta and St Brown.
