So talented, so sad, to go so young. Always look so forward to seeing him do his act. Absolutely one of the most funny individuals I ever watch.
I grew up with Joan Rivers in comedy, and when Sam came around and did his HBO in the 80's... I never laughed so hard in my life. But in my heart I knew he was just a genius at comedy, and brought out routines that were just out of this world. Dave Chapell had it for a few years, but I am sure the fame was overwhelming, so he rightfully chose to withdraw until he got his head. Fame and Fortune, after has it's side-effects. Sorry Sam checked out and Joan, but being able to see it now in my elder years is so cool. RIP Sam & Joan! You were both very special people.

Mr. Kinison, I am waiting to meat you in Heaven. I know you had your foundation and left somewhat. I myself, after knowing you, watching all your audio and video's, I have a firm belief that you will be with The Father. Everyone will be given the opportunity to have a Heaven sent invitation. From there you will find that everyone's tour here will be different. So don't judge that, leave that to The Great "I AM".
Sam Kinison is one of the best (if not THE best) comedians of all time and will be forever missed. I was at his show at the Newport in Columbus, Ohio in August of 1991, and I will never forget that experience. I only wish I could go back and experience it again.

Joan is like a normal person yet a superstar, so natural and real, quite extraordinary.
He was a cutting edge Classic.
Thirty years prior to Sam's death back in 1962, there was a popular comedian named Ernie Kovacs who also died tragically in a car crash. He was 42. I was a kid, but I remember it was a big deal. His generation loved him. When Sam died it reminded me of that tragedy. Now Kovacs is almost completely forgotten. Sh** happens. Kinison died at 38 in 1992 and would now be 71 , but he weighed 280 at 5'7'' and drank liquor, so maybe he'd be dead already. Just saying. His star was still rising. Over the years there would have been funny movies, lots of tv , concerts... what a loss. I sure miss him.
I hate that he died in a corvette. My car for over 20 years. Hometown boy done good . He rests here with many famous people.
Thank you SO much for posting! this is GOLD to remember them both !!

This guy was without doubt, THE ABSOLUTE FUNNIEST COMEDIAN OF THE 80's and early 90's. The world lost a true talent when he passed away. Would his style of comedy work in todays world? I would have to say probably not because it seems the world has lost their sense of humor. Everybody has a stick up their ass and is offended by the direction of the wind these days. It's really sad that its like that, but maybe one day everybody will find their sense of humor again.

He was definitely one of the funniest comedians. You are right about most people seem to have no sense of humor anymore. What would all these people that are easily offended say about Sam Kinison, Robert Schimmel, Richard Pryor etc these days? Although they truly were great and funny so I think they still would be successful. Maybe not with the woke crowd. Jimmy Carr is hilarious and definitely not politically correct so I believe that their greatness would find an audience.

Very sad that we lost Sammy that way. And, having read the medical examiner's report from his autopsy, I am seriously wondering if Sammy was even able to get out of that car after impact? Reading of the injuries he received, chances are, he was unconscious and/or already dead while wedged between the seats, as they found him. We'll never know for certain if the stories we've heard were true or not. He may have had just enough life left in him to exit the vehicle and lay on the ground as the stories go, but it seems to me he would have needed one hell of a constitution to have done so. And if they found him unconscious between the seats, how and when did he manage to wake up? The sad fact is, he's gone. We lost a lot of laughter that day. This grim 21st century could have truly benefited from having him around. Bless you, Sammy. Hope all is well with you beyond this realm.
I miss them both. What a great era that time was.

I'm wondering if Sammy ever experienced the joy of owning and caring for a pet -- a companion animal? He didn't seem to like cats very much, judging from the following quote: "Not that I'm against cat death. If you see a cat, if it's crossing the road, hit it. I don't call that a ritual, I just call that upsetting the cat owner." I wonder if he really felt that way? Sammy might have been less lonely and a little happier if he could have experienced the companionship of a loyal and unconditionally loving pet. If he missed out on that during his lifetime, it's sad, indeed. I'm editing this post because I've just recently learned that Sammy did, indeed, have a pet. He had a dog named Russo, and according to what I've read, he just LOVED that dog. He wanted his dog with him on the road. On the day of his accident, he had Russo put into the van that was driving behind his Trans Am, and Sam also had everything else he'd had in his car placed into the van. His brother, Bill, thought that was kind of weird and unusual, because Sam and Russo were inseparable. Could it be that Sam sensed something was going to happen and he wanted his dog safe, along with all of his other stuff he had in his car? But, if that were the case, one might think he would have wanted Malika safe, as well, and have her also go into the van. He didn't, of course. And why would he? They were married and in love and life together. Sam wanted her with him. Whatever happened to him was going to happen to both of them, together. That's what marriage is about. You're together, come hell or high water! I think Sammy was blessed to have a pet to love and we all know that pets are good for us -- for our health, for therapy, for our general well being. Sam was trying to clean up his life. What more wholesome a friend to help him do that than a loyal companion animal? A much more wholesome friend than some of the guys he hung out with who kept plying him with drugs. The thing he said about cats was probably just his joking around. Maybe he didn't really like cats, or maybe he did like them. That line stuck with me because I'm a cat person. It probably meant nothing. Anyway, I glad Sammy had his dog. Good for his heart.

He was not wearing a seat belt. His head smashed the windshield and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to his brother.[3] His wife was also injured in the collision but later recovered after being taken directly to a hospital in Needles for treatment.[23] Kinison said to no one in particular at the time: “I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die.” But then there was a pause as if Kinison were listening to someone. Then he asked, “But why?”, and after another pause, “Okay, okay, okay.” A friend who was with him said, “Whatever voice was talking to him gave him the right answer and he just relaxed with it.”[26] Efforts to resuscitate Kinison were unsuccessful and he passed away on the spot from internal injuries. An autopsy found that Kinison sustained multiple traumatic injuries, including a dislocation in the cervical spine, a torn aorta, and torn blood vessels in his abdominal cavity, which resulted in his death within a few minutes of the accident.[27][28] Malika Souiri, Kinison's wife, whom he had married six days earlier and who was wearing a seat belt, was also found unconscious after the accident, but she survived the accident with the concussion.[29] Pierson pled guilty to one count of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. He was sentenced to one year of probation and 300 hours of community service. Pierson also had his driver's license suspended for two years in connection with the collision.[30]"
