Kristie and Sam are a much needed representation to "normalize" (as if it isn't normal) same-sex relationships. They send the message that there's nothing wrong being gay and thus give hope to many closeted people, but also to people who have never seen any public gay couples. It's also understandable that they kept their relationship secret at the beginning as they didn't know how it will work out. Glad they decided to be role models once they became official. Both Kristie and Sam are very ambitious on the pitch, so no one has to doubt that they're not giving their best even when playing against each other. I agree with Sara on the best photo of this shooting.

These types of disgusting behaviors will never be normalized. It was (and still is in allot of countries) illegal for a reason.
They totally slayyyed in this shoot. Great to see. Australia will certainly be ones to watch this year!

Sam and Kristie are two of my favorite footballers and two very cool people.I love their attitude and I think they inspire a great many people in many different ways. GO RED STARS!!!!!!

Love the way Kristy is so proud to be Sam's girl!!! As for playing against each other Sam's not going to mess around because Kristy is on opposite teams!! The South African women's cricket captain few years ago in the big bash was playing against her wife on opposite teams well wife bowled wife out there wasn't a send of just didn't make eye contact!!! Really the new Ash and Ali except Ausie and an American!! Take care👍👍👍

OH wow!! Those who cricket players were really in a wild spot! They both wanted to win so bad so they weren't even married that day lol OMG Sam And Kristie are Australian sweethearts! I think they will move to perth when they both retire! Kristie in the sun at the beach? I think she will take it! lol
Regarding the ability to be in a relationship and also be opponents - i feel that happens throughout soccer. look at all the relationships, friendships, club teammates, etc. who play each other. It is basically a fact of life in soocer. Players on different national teams play together on club teams. Sometimes you see people date teammates but, inevitable, they are spread out. The bigger issue is when people break up.....

Leah and Jordan did a similar photo shooot in red a few years ago. Also have you seen some of the photo shoits with Megan and Sue? Not so original even though it is a lovely layout.

I can’t imagine ever questioning their competitiveness on the field when opposed to each other. The only way I could see their relationship entering the field is if one fouled the other badly - I could imagine the one who was on the wrong end of it not complaining as they might if it was someone else because they wouldn’t want to cause them to get sent off. But that is a mark of respect really and it happens between players who aren’t couples and in the men’s game too. I could imagine one committing a really bad tackle on the other sooner than I could imagine one trying to get the other sent off!

yeah good point. There is a level of things you would think about that when playing a match you would never have to think about if it wasn't your partner . So there is lot to think about when facing your partner!

Hopefully Kristie Mewis gets time in these pre-WWC games. After seemingly being a Vlatko favorite when she made the team a couple of years ago, now it seems like everyone else gets subbed in before her. It is like "What does she have to do to see the field" There are certain people who seem to be able to do no wrong, who really have not proven themselves. So
i feel like sam would love to have a short masc haircut but probably agents/publicists tell her to stay palatable w long hair still :(

I think Rachel and Kristie broke up right before the Challenge cup in 2020. Seems like they were distant ever since then. BUt I could be wrong.
