Sam & Dave - Hold On I'm Comin' (1967) | LIVE
Музыка
Sam & Dave were an American soul and R&B duo who performed together from 1961 until 1981. The tenor (higher) voice was Sam Moore (born 1935) and the baritone/tenor (lower) voice was Dave Prater (1937-1988).
Nicknamed "Double Dynamite", "The Sultans of Sweat", and "The Dynamic Duo" for their gritty, gospel-infused performances, Sam & Dave are considered one of the greatest live acts of the 1960s. Many subsequent musicians have named them as an influence, including Bruce Springsteen, Al Green, Tom Petty, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, Steve Van Zandt, Elvis Costello, The Jam, Teddy Pendergrass, Billy Joel and Steve Winwood. The Blues Brothers, who helped create a resurgence of popularity for soul, R&B, and blues in the 1980s, were influenced by Sam & Dave - their biggest hit was a cover of "Soul Man", and their act and stage show contained many homages to the duo.

In 1966, i was 14 years old and went to a party in Raleigh ,NC They were playing Hold on i”m comin.. The kids had a dance to it .The song still moves me 58 years later .. Yes … This is when songs had a meaning that you could identify with .. but arrangements and “Grooves” that captivated their audience !!

I am too young to have heard this song when it came out but hearing it always gives me shivers down my spine. The idea that someone’s coming to save me or that I might be on the way to save someone is so energizing. It goes right to my heart. I’m incredulous that the audience was barely moving as I’d definitely be dancing to that fabulous performance. Sam and Dave were incredible and their music still holds up nearly 60 years later. What an exciting time it must have been!
So cool, so special. There needs to be more music like that - right now!

There never will be, times and music has changed. Gangsta rap and hip hop have taken over, it's a real shame.
These guys did more to break down the walls of the racial divide than most today do. Shit, I thought these guys the two coolest dudes on the planet. And I couldn't get enough. Still can't. Sam and Dave. Respect.

I did, in London on the Stax tour with Otis and Booker T, they were fantastic, so fantastic that I saw them twice on one day. Those were the days when you could queue for tickets on the door.

Smooth little steps by Dave from 1:21 to 1:23.
Sounds like Church to me. "Oh Lord. I'm comin'." Those brass players just add to an overall great choreography supporting a great sound. A quality act.

Un moment merveilleux de la soul music que j'avais découvert en 1967 dans la STAX music mais je trouve ici le public ici un peu statique . Alors que pour moi c'est la défonce au bon sens du terme . Inoubliable . NORBERT .
