I don't see how you could convince him that he wasn't operating on a higher level than everyone else. That's exactly what he is doing. He's definitely not profoundly dumb. The people who let this happen and aren't taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen again are the profoundly dumb ones.

    Can you do a video on Propranolol? When I was in the Marine Corps I started having crippling ocular migraines that essentially caused blindness and neurological effects such as feeling infinitesimally small or infinitely large in proportion to my environment and I was prescribed Propranolol 40mg. After about 2 weeks of taking it I found myself talking to large groups of Marines and instructing them. I literally could not stutter. The words just continued to roll off my tongue like magic. I wasn’t making things up it’s just like the knowledge that I had in my head didn’t have to translate to fit a social situation so there wasn’t a barrier to saying what I meant. My charisma went up to level 100. I even began giving high level briefs to officers and even Lt Colonels and Colonels during deployments and large international multi-departmental training Ops. I was a Corporal (E-4) and a combat engineer, but within 2 years I literally became the go-to person for everything. Eventually propranolol starting dropping my BP too low and I had to stop taking it, but I would love to hear your input on it and other beta-blockers regarding its use as a cognitive/confidence enhancer from a scientific point of view.

    Does anyone else remember that true life episode with the guy that was addicted to neurotropics? He started on neurotropic medications and vitamins because he wanted to be the best of the best but became dependent on it thinking it made him smarter and more productive and ignored the fact that it was doing the opposite... At the end of the episode it shows him taking his arsenal of pills before going in for a very important, huge test and he failed it even though he was a straight A student his entire life up to this point before he was on neurotropics. @@DannerWellness It didn't "destroy" my dopamine, but definitely caused a drastic change in my behavior and actions. I became increasingly paranoid, was unable to eat & sleep much, and disturbed my baseline mental/emotional health to a great degree. Towards the end of it, I was incredibly anxious around anyone including family. It was as if my awareness was hyper-vigilant, and I perceived literally every single movement and action by those around me as a slight against me. Every seemed like an enemy and I lashed out. The scariest part was I was completely unaware of the change in my behavior and genuinely thought I was right and everyone else was wrong. It was only after tapering off the patches and a few months of recovery for my MAOI enzymes that I could look back with clarity at the strange creature I had become. I had alienated many relationships during that short year, and had to make amends over the following years. Everything is good now though, but let this be a cautionary tale to anyone who thinks any one drug or substance will be the solution to their problems. It's best to take an organic approach where you cultivate a stock of healthy lifestyle practices. Only then can you make real, lasting progress.

And I've been on a LOT, including almost all drugs marketed for depression, many opioids, etc. I feel the exact same as baseline, which was very much not expected. I'm not sure Dopamine suffers from the same degree of persisting downregulation as other mechanisms, but then again my neurochemistry is very much fucked up and probably not representitive. Selegiline is a very old drug that was used a lot back in 90's... Known mostly for it's "possible" life extending properties (tested in lab animals), not so much as a nootropic.... It's main use is as an anti Parkinsons drug... It's an MAO inhibitor that slows aging of the substantia nigra by lowering 6-hydroxydopamine levels, a toxic metabolite of dopamine that ages that part of the brain...MAO inhibitors are also antidepressants, they all increase dopamine, and have a "stimulant effect".... Not exactly a "limitless drug" but I guess could be part of a nootropic "stack" that may be far more potent.... The real interest is that after the age of 30 as humans we lose about 13 percent of out dopamine production per decade. If we don't die from vascular disease, cancer, or kidney failure first , we'll eventually die from dopamine loss.... Dopamine is a very important neurotransmitter and neuro-endocrine molecule... Slowing down the damage to the substantia nigra by 6-hydroxydopamine could theoretically increase life span and has in animal models..

    If you have huge task or project that you have to complete. I have taken 32.5 mg (Instant Release Tablets) of Dextroamphetamine, it takes longer to kick then levoamphetamine to get things moving and to get a positive and upbeat type of mood. It give you such a real strong sense of focus, being able focus on different tasks all at the same, becoming talkative, having a positive outlook on life. It is a great high, but then you crash later in the day, make sure you have something neutralize the final weak lingering stimulatory effects that remain, but are too weak to do anything great and anyway the effect attenuates because of time. Like you can have a couple Valiums and when take effect, it neutralizes the stimulatory effects are within a few minutes. Once the Valiums take effect, you will hungry again, your muscles will relax, and you feel sleepy. So eat and drink your fill and go to sleep and the day to back to normal. On a side note: You cannot or should do this procedure everyday, it will too much for the mind and body. It is good to do it one week once every two weeks.

    EMSAM is a MAOI. If you read the interaction warnings on basically any OTC or prescription drug MAOIs are listed. They interact with everything and most in a bad way. This is not the kind of drug you want to experiment with as a nootropic. You are probably safer doing stimulants which is saying a lot.

  • @aeonikus1

    @aeonikus1

    Жыл бұрын

    Nah, in theory you're right. Many MAOIs could be potentially dangerous when missused or in combo with some drugs but selegiline is rather safe substance, it can be helpful in certain situations, like quick acting antydepresant (positive effects can be felt in 1h, not weeks like most/all SSRI/SNRI needs), mood modulator/enhancer, slight cognitive enhancer, it is said that selegiline enhances neuroplasticity/CNS regeneration so one may get long term effects too. I've seen cases of simultaneous selegiline and tramadol use in doses like Sele.20mg + 300~400mg of tram. without any MAOI's related side effects. BUT!!! I DO NOT encourage anyone to take above as medical advice nor to take any drugs without prior consultation with a specialists ;)

    I used to be so huge into Nootropics, looking back it was crazy how much money I spend on them. Few of them worked, and when they did it was amazing. I had some "limitless" experiences, but most of my nootropic use always came at a long-term cost (I was taking them for months/years). Either, when I would get off of them, my motivation to work on things that previously went effortless took a huge drop, or my mood did. There were some nootropics which I did which just made me misbehave, and sometimes this wouldn't happen until being on them for weeks or months. Like Modafinil, turned me into a primal sex animal, after taking it for 6 months. Prior to that, insane focus, and insane motivation. Lifted me out of depression. Then suddenly, boom I wanted to fuck everything that moved. And let's just say it ended up in quite some risky behavior. I couldn't imagine, being on nootropics, having such a paradoxical reaction and then having to manage billions of user funds, ouch.

Modafinil doesn't really help with motivation, but at least I'm awake and If I apply other strategies for motivation, I can utilize what it does effectively without becoming a mess, people on Adderall in the long term, if you think It's not going to have consequences, well, I hope you're right, for me, it was a bad decision, especially considering the consistent use over a long period.
