    Thinking of adding a salvini with my convict into a 30g and just having them 2 in there. Are there things I can do to help keep aggression down like water temp or light timing?

  • @blackduckhomestead398

    @blackduckhomestead398

    3 жыл бұрын

    I wouldn't suggest it in a 30g, when putting Cichlids together it's a bad idea to have just 2 as one can just pick on the other. 3 is just as bad as sometimes 2 pick on one, realistically you can only have medium sized Sa/ca Cichlids together in a very large tank or species only/single fish in a smaller one but there's so many nuances that it's best to just read as much as possible. I much prefer species only tanks or single fish as their behaviour and personality isn't dictated by tankmates that have been shoved in there and you can get a super special healthy as fuck specimens alone or in very lightly stocked tanks.

And a hybrid polar blue cichlid..i was considering adding one of these salvini to the tank but im glad I looked into it first... @@slickchick5811 lol how??? But I don't have electric blue Acara or Oscar anymore... But lmk say this... Contrary to what the Internet says... I been doing this for almost 30 years bro... U can actually raise up to 8 Oscars in a 125 as long as it's well maintained and the standard 6ft long... This new stuff people come up with on how many fish can go in a tank is ridiculous... Bro I seen irdescent sharks kept in a 125 up to 3 of them!! For 10-15 years with no issues... Always remember that the information given is always a opinion and far as size goes... Most likely your fish like Oscars or irdescent sharks or Jack Dempsey won't ever get to the size and proportions google says 😂... Those are all "wild life estimate sizes" these fish in the aquarium won't experience seasonal weather they won't experience being in large groups looking for mates and they won't experience the infinite amount of gallons they naturally have in the wild... Yeah I have seen some fish reach full size without a doubt but honestly majority of these just won't... You will be lucky to find a Oscar that is 15 inches and I guarantee you that the person either had them for 10 years or fed them nothing but live food... Because the food we feed our fish will never ever maximize the growing potential that's why it was formulated for aquarium fish... They don't eat anything close to that in the wild... Google says u can mix giant danios with Jack Dempsey... Back in the day I used to feed them to a Jack Dempsey we had... Google says the Jack Dempsey cichlids will more than likely reach 6-8 inches in captivity... I have seen them as big as full size Oscars!!! In captivity... It's honestly how you maintain the aquarium bro... And I don't fill none of my tanks with all those decorations unless it's a true tropical community of small fish then you decorate...
