It’s nice to branch out from the major designers like Petite Knit and My Favorite Things. Although their patterns are classic, there are so many gorgeous patterns from small designers who need the support more than the two big ones do. ❤

Couldn’t agree more! I’m trying to branch out much more and support smaller designers. If you have any favourites let me know.

During the pandemic I was knitting about 15 hours per day and I gave myself a massive ganglion on my little finger from tensioning yarn. It’s got smaller, and doesn’t hurt anymore, but has never gone away. People give themselves knitting injuries all the time 😊 I tried the small circular needles and hated them. Totally cramped my hands.

Oh no, that sounds like a very painful injury! Glad you're mostly healed but it's definitely a good lesson to a) take breaks and b) focus on posture 😊

Nice podcast. Just found you so I’ll have to watch them all now! Canadian yarns that I want to try because I keep hearing how great they are: Sonder Yarns and Julie Asselin. Ones I’ve tried and like , if you like fluffy soft yarn: Kare from The Knitting Loft and Les Garçon have a new yarn called Fluff.

Thanks for the recommendations! Someone else also mentioned Sonder Yarns and I think their mini's would work perfectly with my advent from last year.

Hi, glad I found you 🙂I feel I have a similar style to yours and I really love a Finnish designer Leeni Hoimela (Leeni Hoi on Raverly). I've knit the Meilahli hat and mittens (hat twice, mittens one) and they are really exquisite timeless pieces that just look very luxurious. I have used the Kremke silk mohair which has quite long hair and loving it. She has a lot of of interesting pieces and many modern, but wearable looking accessories. I'm knitting her Hurma sweater at the moment and just adoring the design once again. If you like her it might be better to get her books instead of purchasing patterns individually.

What a great suggestion! I’ve never come across her but looking at her patterns they are gorgeous. My eyes also went immediately to that Hurma sweater without realizing it was the one you are working on so clearly we have similar taste 🤗

I had a knitting injury! I had a pinched nerve in my neck that caused shoulder and arm pain for 11 weeks!! So not fun. It’s better now but I do stretch every day.

Great episode! Tig Notaro had a show that I loved - you should try to find it - I believe it was based on her real life. I love the cardi- so delicate and looks great - neat that it goes 2 ways. My own knitting has evolved from zero gauge concept to gauge swatches to now I rip out and re-knit things if need be - enough mistakes have led me to realize that doing the “right thing” in the beginning will lead to a garment I actually want to wear.

I watched the doc right after I heard her on Armchair Expert! I think it's just called Tig on Netflix and it was great. She went through so much for a period of her life. Can't wait to see her show tomorrow. I am 100% with you on ripping back now if things aren't going as planned. I was working on my salty days sweater this weekend and realised I missed a yarn over so was 1 stitch off. Likely wouldn't have made a huge difference but I really wanted to try to make this sweater as perfect as possible so I ripped out my few hours of work and started over. Thankfully frogging worsted weight wool is pretty easy 😉

Hi from Montreal! I recently discovered the yarn of The Loving Path, dyed in Ontario. I really liked the Hudson Aran. This Non-Superwash and very soft Merino was perfect for the jumper Avalanche, by Heidi Kirrmaier. Enjoy your trip 🙂

Ahh, your Cardi jumper is so pretty. Omg, a true knitting injury! I have had my shoulder area aching because of bad knitting posture, but it never went that bad. I also hated those small circulars, I bought them to be able to like sock knitting better :D but it didn't work out for me so I sold them online to their next victim.

I enjoy your podcast and all the knitting projects you are sharing! I have enjoyed using Knit Picks Gloss DK (more like worsted weight) and also their swish DK. I haven't tried the palette or Wool of the Andes yet. They have a great color range so maybe soon...

The gloss is one I haven’t looked at yet but I also heard good things about swish. The colour palette they have is definitely a huge plus, in addition to the price point itself.

Handsome is such a great podcast! I've also recently discovered that sock knitting isn't for me. I really dislike the tiny needle size and the super slippery sock yarn. Thankfully there are dozens of sweaters I want to make which keeps me plenty occupied. 😂

I think it might have been all the construction happening in the background. Didn’t realize until editing how bad it was. 🫣 I’ve decided to order a different mic though that works better with my iPhone so if it is the mic that should be fixed next time. 🤗 Thanks for the rec for the yellow yarn!

@@Goodknits_ , my notes say I was using a single strand of DK weight yarn and was getting 22 stitches instead of 18 or 19 with size 8 needles. I’m not a fan of two stranded knitting, but I think I’ll have to get with the program. Or do the pattern in worsted weight yarn. I love the sweater and am looking forward to doing it.

@@annjavoroski2344 I think you're correct that you need to move up to a Worsted weight. I was originally also going to use DK because that is what the pattern says but then I noticed Double Sunday and Peer Gynt were already what she suggested be held WITH the mohair, so I opted to go to Worsted and that did get me correct gauge. Also then I could hold just a single strand. If you make that change I think you'll be able to cast on!
