    Don't be embarrassed by mistakes, as that's how we learn. I knit the Salty Days Sweater and then proceeded to felt it. ugh. Your pictures of Italy are beautiful. You should show more of Amsterdam. I will be visiting in August, so will definitely be headed to some yarn stores and even that button shop.

    For the blouse: the length you need to knit something to in the pattern, is always the blocked length. What i usually do is measure my swatch before and after blocking and ill see how it grows. When it says to knit something to x length, I decide based on my blocked gauge, how many rows that must be and then knit that amount of rows. This always turns out perfect for me!

    I've heard this before and I really need to start trying it. I am horrible about measuring my swatches pre-blocking but getting better about it! So on all future projects I'm going to attempt this.

    I never knit to the suggested length on body and sleeves. I try on as I go and bind off when I’m happy with the length on my body. Every body is different 😍

    have to say I love your videos! I just watched them all in order like a little tv show :) As a crocheter turned knitter I can say knitpal cotton to the core is the only cotton I will knit with! It is super soft and doesn't split at all. It comes in many colors and is very affordable. Not sure how accessible it is in the Netherlands though (I'm in the US)

    Lovely podcast as usual 😊 I can’t believe how quickly you knitted that sweater! If I ever have to rip something back (even if it’s just a couple of rows never mind the whole thing) it goes into the naughty corner for at least a month before I look at it again 😂😂😂 which reminds me I need to get my sons zipper sweater out of said corner 😂😂 Have a great week and enjoy the warm weather that’s supposed to be coming our way this week!!🎉

    😂 time to take that zipper sweater out and let him shine! Honestly if this sweater weren’t stockinette and super simple I likely would have put it aside but it was so enjoyable, especially with the yarn, that I just wouldn’t wait to work on it.

    I think your blouse no.2 turned out great! That blue would look amazing with bottoms in white/off white/cream/beige etc and we are getting to that season! Don't feel embarrassed about the sleeves. We have all made some "stupid" mistakes with our knits. I just hope for you that that light stain on the sleeve isn't bleach 😬 The braidy loop cardigan made it into my favourites as well. Usually my style is as simple as can be (which is why I knit so much petiteknit and MFT) but this one I really like!

    @@Goodknits_ haha, I own way too many white bottoms. Every colour goes with white but I have a couple very bright coloured tops (electric blue, grass green) that I will wear only with my white bottoms. They are spring/summer tops so it's fine. The colour of your Gallant would look stunning with white as well!

    For the blouse: You don't think you will like to wear it, heavy and stretchy. But then you say that it is a good low budget piece. I was wondering if you would like it more if you chose another yarn (more expensive?)? Thanks for your feedback!

  • @Goodknits_

    So I would say overall the drops cotton merino is a good inexpensive option for a DK cotton, especially in comparison to something like WAK cotton which is more than double the price. My issue with the blouse is more that because it’s DK weigh and such a big textured piece it just doesn’t feel that nice to actually have on, but I am not sure if changing the yarn would have solved that. Maybe the cotton merino from KFO held double would but maybe not just based on design of the piece. I will say I haven’t worn the blouse out in “the wild” yet either so first impressions are I am not sure I love it but once I start wearing it I might change my mind! My husband is a big fan

    Hooray! I applaud your goal to branch out from the Petite Knit and My Favorite Things patterns. I like those designs well enough, but there are already literally dozens of other podcasters that cover that ground. Now I’m going to say something that you won’t like. You have a strong tendency toward “uptalk,” which is where the speaker ends sentences on a rising intonation. You’re doing it a lot-like with at least 80% of your sentences. The thing is that almost no one speaks that way in ordinary face-to-face conversation, yet it’s very common in KZread presentations, where the speaker is perhaps nervous or not focusing on connecting personally with listeners. I know you’ll hate me for saying this and think I’m rude. I’m risking your disapproval because I think that 1) ditching uptalk is not that hard if you imagine that you’re talking not just to a camera, but to real people, and 2) you have the potential to be a charismatic presenter. Okay, so you hate me. But I’m sending you ❤️ anyway.

    Pretty sure it’s an Ontario accent, hard to change your natural speech patterns and for some reason women are often targeted for their speech tone, patterns etc.

  • @lizholzer4930

    @lizholzer4930

    @@SuperLogandog No, it’s not the accent. If you want to know what I’m referencing, you can find many examples of “upspeak” or “uptalk” here on KZread. I do agree that women take more flack for that and other speech patterns than men, but that doesn’t obviate the fact that this particular habit signals self-consciousness, no matter the gender of the speaker. Whether or not upspeak can be eliminated is a matter for consideration. I am certain that it is not a natural speech pattern, as most people don’t speak that way with friends and family. I know that I’m hitting a nerve with these comments, but I think that addressing the issue could make for a stronger, more confident presentation. I honestly mean no offense.
