It's good money? Pay in 2022 is no good.. Pay hasn't risen in years. You use to get round trip airfare now most cop out and pay only one way. You are seriously getting ripped off if you are only making 2.1 million or in the low to mid 2s. Lots of inflation over the years has made Korea expensive while pay has not moved. You really should be making over 3 million won a month or more to have a half decent savings amount and a good quality of life in 2022. That is what the salary was equal to over a decade ago with inflation factored in even with the same pay as today. Wow!!! Do China (once covid and lockdowns are done). Pay there is 3 to 5 million won with free housing or allowance with flight. Also a cheaper living cost is there and more laid back contracts (compared to Korea). Hogwans work you more than in the past for really low pay. They have raised their fees and charge parents alot more than before but you are not getting that extra money. Really do China or up and coming Vietnam in the future. If you are going to work in Korea do not work for less than 2.8 million or over 3 million won. You will be poor. Some people can still save due to extreme frugality like eating noodles and rarely going out, etc. Do not accept 2.1 million won in 2022. This was paid since at least 2004 or 2005 I believe. It was good money as I said. Recruiters said things that were true but now longer true. Sadly they keep repeating. What was once true about good money is now not true. The recruiters now just lie to get you over here. Just do your year in Korea and move on. China pays way way more. Long term Vietnam will also pay more but also with a cheaper living cost. This means more savings! No one has to put up with low pay in Korea anymore. Demand 3 million or walk. Plenty of countries hiring and paying much better with less work loads. Best of luck.

This is my 6th month here in Korea, and I definitely have to agree with you.. The money is just not enough considering the cost of living.. But for someone who comes from a country where I wasn’t even paid half the money with a qualification, this is so much better.. Initially my first choice was China, but their borders are still closed.. Thank you for this,I am definitely demanding more on my next contract.
