Imagine going from this tiny venue to eventually having a concert at the Tokyo Dome (50k+ capacity) about 5-6 years later. 🤘🦊🤘

Great reaction. I think you have been told everything I might have been able to tell you about this. Well done spotting Yui, Moa and Su immediately (it is surprising how many don't do that). It is worth repeating this was Sakura Gakuin's first show (November 2010) and BABYMETAL also made their stage debut at this same show. Hopefully someone will be able to guide you through the SG videos etc more or less chronologically so you don't get to the graduations before you know who is who and seeing the bonds between all the girls grow.

Notice that the skull on Yui's shirt and the hearts on Moa's shirt are also on the original BABYMETAL logo. 🤘🦊🤘

We can spot Su in a crowd at a glance. Because she always performs at 200 percent effort. And you know as well as we do that she still does. The guy in the legendary white T-shirt is a big fan of Su's.

🌸 🏫 /⚡ 💀 💕 Each of the Sakura Gakuin members designed a t-shirt in collaboration with the MONO COMME ÇA company. The same company also designed the original Sakura Gakuin uniforms. The Sakura Gakuin song 'Hello Ivy' is a tie-in to their Ivy Comme Ça sub-brand. That Ivy/preppy style was popular in Japan. There's a funny story where Suzuka and Ayami (unrecognized) went to one of the stores selling the t-shirts the Sakura Gakuin members designed, and they both cracked up when the sales person would recommend a design to try on.

GJ on spotting the myth, the legend, the one and only legendary white t-shirt guy! It’s always fun to watch those early videos where Su is clearly not yet used to her own body parts and is dorking around. Also, as you said, Yui was clearly born to be a dancer, even at that young age she is spot on. As others said the T-shirts were designed by the girls and ended up being part of the official Babymetal logo. ❤🤘🦊🔥

I would only say watch the graduation stuff later. Get a feeling of the bond these girls develop. Then get the tissues ready 😭

Thanks for this reaction, great choice. This was at the 'red brick warehouse' which is the very first performance of Sakura Gakuin, their own show. Which is also where the Doki Doki Morning debut performance was. This specific song was performed probably because they didn't have enough of their own songs, so they did a dance cover. White T-shirt guy is a fan of Suzuka from her time at Karen Girl's and he was trying to copy her dances. Others have already mentioned the Babymetal logo, etc. What is also interesting: Suzuka used to hate dancing in the very beginning, but as she found her 'grove' with dancing. The tests are actually very useful to get to know the names of the members. I think 'class battle' came first, chronologically.

The young Lady middle back row is Hinata Sato, now days she is a major voice actress in Anime! Having seen many of these, it's very obvious the stars are Yui and Moa. Your eyes always find them in every video.

Suzuka bless her heart reminds me of a a noodle dancing here and she is giving it her all (like she does everything). Moa and Yui (Moi Moi) resemble adorable little pixies.

Those shirts Moa and Yui had connection to the Original VpBabymetal logo. Mia’s hearts are in the letters and Yui’s skull is right off the logo. You can see here just how great Yui-chan was at dancing.

When you know Suzuka's dancing unique moveset it's not so hard to spot her, and Yui and Moa being the smollest also not so hard but not all reactors spot them right away like you did, gj! 👍 I remember hearing this song being the opening for Lucky Star, a comedy anime really hard to understand some jokes if you're not so into anime and Japanese stuff, but the song become really famous either way and it's super fun to watch the girls dancing this, got some similar dance moves like the original but with more room for creativity. And yea legendary white t-shirt guy it's there having the time of his life, i don't remember last time i heard of him but i think he's still going to Japan concerts. Deep in the Foxhole you are, now let's see if you can remember the names of all these founders SG members. Not sure where you can start SG material, pretty sure hardcore fans will be here and help you with that, my guess is after watching some MV like Verishuvi and Yume Ni Mukatte you'll be fine to watch 2012 Graduation and Speeches.💮

Besides the BABYMETAL journey, this is the journey I have been looking forward to the most! All I can say is hang on! It is a wild ride, and an emotional one at that. All 37 members (Yes, I am including Mori-sensei) are such pure joy, and gold!

I had to watch this a few times trying to see what all of them were doing. If there is one thing you can see it’s Su is all in on this even when she’s not in sync with the others. I have no idea how long she practiced but she’s very confident she’s got it right; it really makes her stand out. Some of the others seem to be more concerned about making a mistake. Yui is all smiles and often her and Moa are perfectly in sync. I love that angle with Su in the middle and Yui and Moa on both sides of her, a lot of foreshadowing there.

And years later all that 10 girls became one of the best generations of: Models, Singers, Actress and Dancers of Japan.... 😍😍

It's so interesting and fun to observe Su's dancing (almost as much as White Shirt guy's), it's so special. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I think she tends to pull up her shoulders and stretch her head forward, which makes it look a bit like she's ducking. And she always has a smile or some other form of playful facial expression to go with it.

She had a big growth spurt, she went from being shorter than Ayami to taller than her by quite a bit in about 12 months so it is understandable she would look a bit awkward

Like you, I am completely intimidated by where to begin my journey with SG. If you have not subscribed the the Sakura Gakuin reddit, I suggest you do. They have links to so many things about SG and stuff is still being actively translated. This first class of SG was arguably the best bunch of future talent to be on one stage. Ayumi Muto the girl dancing next to Su (red flower) was the first Class President (Group Leader). She set the standard for all future leaders of the group and she is a treasure. She never grew much bigger that what you see now. She is the tiniest member of SG at 148cm or 4' 10". Tiny but mighty. (edit for my bad english) I guess I didn't word it properly. As Of Now at age 27, she never grew much bigger that what you see in this videos. She is currently the tiniest member to have graduated from SG at ... ... ...

SG is a little hard to figure out, I think an important thing to remember is that a lot of what you will see was actually scripted and filmed in multiple takes even though they try to make it appear as if it is spontaneous and natural

i think its more that Su is so gangly and double jointed that her moves look awkward rather than her being 'petite' but you can tell whenever Su is in the room xD It looked like at 5:01 moa was supposed to slide under Yui, but aborted the last minute

Welcome to the forbidden world of Japanese idol songs. I was never an idol nerd before I knew BM. But somehow I ended up getting into Sakura Gakuin, lol. This song is the theme song of 'Lucky Star,' that is an even more forbidding anime featuring some beautiful school girls, ha. The title of the song, 'Motteke, sailor fuku' (もってけ、セーラーふく(持ってけ、セーラー服)) means 'Take it, my own sailor uniform', wow... The lyrics has some plays on words and rhymes, though, but totally beyond my comprehension as a middle-aged guy, huh. However, in the comments section in one of the videos of the MV, one Japanese woman apparently said, 'It doesn't mean much, but it's a funny but accurately expression of high school girl's brains, and it's genius'. So I guess it is genius, lol. Sakura Gakuin's songs are good, the sub-unit's ones are good, the end-of-year (Nendo) tests are good, and you can dig deeper and deeper too!

Lets just say su has a very unique style of dancing .all hail the fox god😊

Sakura Gakuin is a guilty pleasure of mine. I even surprised myself by diving headlong into this group. There are so many videos, concerts, music videos, skits, it’s really extremely entertaining. Of course Babymetal was my initial draw, but nearly every member over the years went on to other musical groups, modeling, acting and such. I’d recommend watching the entire video of this Red Brick concert, or at minimum when the group performs as a whole (start and last two songs), as well as the Babymetal performance (where it all began). I need to rewatch for the video for a time stamp of BM. From there, I have countless suggestions.

There are over ten years of magic with the 36 talented girls who performed with Sakura Gakuin from 2010-2021. If you keep at it, you will constantly be discovering new favorites along the way. I would also advise you to get into the nendo tests sooner than later. Not only are they hilarious, but they are also the best and quickest way to learn all the girls' names and explore their personalities. This will give you much insight into many other Sakura Gakuin videos.

Strictly BABYMETAL related: that same day (November 28, 2010) BABYMETAL debuted live with "Doki Doki Morning". The venue is the famous Yokohama Akarenga Sōko 1-Gōkan (Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse). The girls wear self-designed t-shirts from a collaboration with Mono comme ça clothing brand. And this is important since Moa's design was the hearts and Yui's the skull... sound familiar? Yes, they were part of BABYMETAL's former logo. Suzuka had the sunflower but the logo adopted some sort of "S" shaped lightnings first and then the classic wings (probably from Karen Girls' "My Wings"). 🤘🦊
