Great job Brian, well played. That's a serious kit you have there, you have a bunch of rack toms, I don't think I have seen that many as a permanent setup. I think Barone uses his second China symbol more in the live versions of Monochrome, but then he plays it very differently than the studio version, which is likely not him anyway, so the song is open for interpretation. Since you did a bit of a hybrid of the live and studio versions you would have had to make some choices around that, I am guessing. Do you play more jazz or Latin influenced? Your strike and attack on the kit look really well-suited to those genres. Anyway, that was five minutes of my time well spent.

Some of those 32nd note pairs in the fills are awkward, I've noticed Hana does a lot of fills that vary left and right lead and she often crashes on the 1 with her left hand, very good practice Have you seen the video Hana posted on her IG of her full play-through drumming of Painkiller and singing it at the same time, from her Birthday show?
Thanks! Definitely could've done better. I think the awkward 32nd fills you reference are a result of a combination of things: 1) Not really practicing this song since I decided to do it on a whim. 2) Since it was a whim, I didn't make a mix that was drumless and when I used the software I use to remove drums, I couldn't get it loud enough in my ears for some reason, therefor I had no metronome :( 3) I had a super weird sound coming through the snare mic that I had to EQ out, which really dropped the sound quality of the snare, so I added in some "triggers" in post to give the sound some depth and I think 32nd notes are too fast for them to pick up every one of them nicely without doing some additional edit to that layer (which I haven't learned to do yet lol). Given all that, I still decided to let fly and post it. I think it turned out pretty decent for what it was. Thanks again!

the best part of Marty playing the Angra riff with Midori and Miyako was that during this time, Kiko was still lead guitars for Megadeth, Marty's most well-known former band. Kiko Loureiro has footage on his youtube channel jamming with Marty from the two shows in 2023 when Megadeth invited Marty to play a few songs with them on stage, at Budokan and at Wacken
