ABOUT SONG
'Sakha' means friend, friend is a very deep and emotional word. If we talk about Dwapar Yuga, then the friendship of Krishna and Sudama can never be forgotten. The friendship of both of them proves that human circumstances never determines the definition of friendship, but the simplicity, truthfulness and emotion of human give life to the definition of friendship. However, the meaning of friendship has changed in Kali Yuga and we rarely get to see friendship like Krishna and Sudama. But those who have kept alive the true meaning of friendship even today are really lucky. In this song we are showing that pure friendship of Krishna and Sudama and at the same time this song is also dedicated to the true definition of friendship. Hope 'Sakha' will touch your hearts on this auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. Wishing you all a very Happy Shree Krishna Janmashtami.
ABOUT KRISHNA AND SUDAMA
Sudama was Lord Krishna's classmate and a very intimate friend (sakha). Lord Krishna was a King. Sudama was an impoverished poor Brahmin. This difference did not come in the way of their true friendship. Sudama went to Dwarka to meet Krishna. There is a custom in India that when you go to meet somebody, you don’t go empty-handed. So what could he take? He had nothing. His clothes were torn. He was so poor! And then at home, he had few rice krispies. So he packed them in a piece of cloth and took them to Krishna. Those rice were very valuable to Krishna. He accepted the gift of rice with tears of happiness. Sudama wanted to tell his circumstances to Krishna but could not tell and went back home saying goodbye to him.
But when Sudama came back home, he saw that his house had become like a palace, it seemed as if poverty had gone from his luck.
ABOUT JANMASHTAMI
Janmashtami is the auspicious day when Lord Krishna took birth on this planet. The birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great fervor and zeal in India in August or September. As per Hindu Calendar, this festival is celebrated on the 8th day of the dark fortnight which is called as Ashtami of Krishna Paksh. Lord Krishna is believed to be the most powerful soul and incarnations of the Lord Vishnu. His birth took place in Mathura. And, that’s why the Mathura is called is Krishnabhumi.
