As a fan who went through stages of Grief with this game as I so desperately tried to defend this game during it's Marketing and shaky release. This was probably one of the worst ways a Franchise could die. Had 2 previous titles that while yes were fun divided the Community and then this game where not even Critics and Casual Fans can enjoy. And Volition completely destroyed almost all bonds they grew with their Community over the years. We talk about how SR needs to get Rebooted again. But let's be real with ourselves here. Even if Volition wasn't involved. How many of us or the Gaming Community as a whole would actually be interested and hoping the best for that? The Community has been burned enough and I just do not see any possible big comeback for this franchise. (Unless that Movie about SR turns out to be good lol)

It's one thing to release at best mediocre game. But when you alienate your most loyal and die-hard fans with the things they say on Twitter and for the Loud crowd that likes the Reboot act like any sort of Critism levied at this game is just "Hate" and "You should play the game first." There’s toxicity, and there's positive toxicity. That's most of the Reboot Fans mindset. There's nothing wrong with liking the Reboot. If we can accept fans that say Saints Row 3 or 4 is their favorite. Then we should allow for fans to enjoy the Reboot. But don't act like the game is some Underrated Gem when it's not.

@cameronb7161 Realistically. This franchise isn't gonna be touched with even a 36 Inch Yard stick anytime soon. Deep Sliver and The Embracer are gonna look at how the Reboot did and decide not to use resources and money for a Remaster or Remake of Saints Row 2 or 1.

I've been patiently waiting to learn more about how different Saints Row the reboot was earlier in development, I think it'll also give us a good off jumping point to understanding why/how the game turned out the way it did, at least in some respects.

@jbiehlable Hey, maybe it’s not for everyone but the remake wasn’t supposed to be an open world game, that was just a side mode, it is definitely regarded as one of the best remakes ever for most. Mafia 4 is well into development, you can look it up if you wish. (5 is in talks already) That series has been bigger than Saints Row since well before the reboot, (Mafia 3 was one of 2K’s best selling games of all time) since SR IV came out they left SR to fester. Mafia is nowhere near like GTA popularity, but what crime game is?

Are there any other Saints Row fans that started with SR1 and still has never played the latest but watches these videos?

I didn't even have the motivation to even pirate it, because if I did I'd still want my money back.

This officially put the nail in the coffin, I really wanted to enjoy this game but I can’t. It’s no longer about gangs it’s now about college kids who so happened to get rich by random chance. Either it needs to be rebooted AGAIN or if there’s ever a sequel it’ll be more serious but that’s nothing more than a pipe dream. The ride was fun while it lasted.

Much worse is that the characters dont remotely take themselves seriously enough, don't act like gangsters in any way, and literally get a villain to turn on them over how lame they are. They didnt even want their logo to be a Fluer, they wanted it to be a waffle shaped like a cat. They still play boardgames, get happy meal toys, think being shirtless is hilarious. Their so-called Boss is a moron who starts a gang because they were fired for being an idiot, and then gets their ass kicked over and over by guy, only to ever win a fight by just some looneytunes way of killing them. The reboot has no redeeming qualities for what they came up with. The worst writing yet for this IP.

The only hope remaining is that we get the patch for Saints Row 2.

Sure, solid gameplay. Boring overworld, nothing to do, plot not being about gangsters at all if not most of the time, a lot of filler activity missions, incoherent writing, I mean its a low bar and the reboot still fucked up. SRTT and SR4 just at least had characters we liked and no cringe (aside from Kinzie's annoying character.)

Literally the worst time to be a saints row fan. We can still go back and replay the old games, but even now theres this trapped feeling while playing them. Just looking at it knowing "the best is over" and that we will never see the likes of it again.

I don’t know if you guys actually played the dlc but it’s one of the best dlc in the series imo. I thought it was going to suck but it is surprisingly well done! I say give it a chance

I truly believe the only thing that was wrong with this game were the bugs and that the entire middle of the story seems to be missing. Its like theres an intro, some of the middle and then the epilogue comes out of nowhere, the entire episode of introducing and building the characters was cut out which the characters are clearly there, but the game just doesnt show them to you. My guess is thats because some exec banked on this game failing and declared that we can only use big enough of a budget so that they profit off of the Epic Games bucks alone.

They should send George R R Martin an apology for insulting his work with that title of theirs.

Volition had a chance, a fuckin chance to redeem the franchise. But thanks to their partnership with Embracer Group, there's no hope. I guess I'll continue to play SR2 through BC.

They really need to fire some people. Their directors. The lead writer for the reboot already left after the game flopped by the direct is the one who needs to be called out for this.

Why they don't remake SR1 and SR2 ??

As a Saints Row DLC, the theme's not off. But what the reboot needs is another half added to the main story, a DLC that picks up where the story left off, and actually finishes the damn thing, not to mention how much shit they could fix about the first half of the story if they'd do that, as well as making an essentially mandatory DLC which would sell a ton.
