Carr has been a top 12 qb for a long time. When Carr started and finished games last year the Saints were 9-5. Remember when Carr got hurt against the Packers, the Saints were up 17-0 at halftime. Winston came in and lost the game as he was 0-3 last year.

That plus Cousins had Jefferson, who turned all of Kirks inaccurate and 50-50 balls into big plays and TD's. That wins the media over bc they don't actually watch the games, they just look at box scores.....just like fans from other teams. That's the only reason anyone has Kirk over Carr right now. Soon they will learn the truth though.

Certainly having DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon didn’t help Cousins either. Cousins had Shanahan (2 years) and Jay Gruden (4 years) from 2012 to 2018. Then he had Zimmer (4 years) and O'Connell (2 years) in Minnesota. Carr had Dennis Allen (1 year), Jack Del Rio (3 years), Jon Gruden (3.25 years), Rich Bisaccia (0.75 years), Josh McDaniels (1 year), and Dennis Allen again (1 year). That type of inconsistency is tough for anyone. Cousins didn't have it easy, but he had some better weapons and only 4 coaches in 12 years vs. 6 coaches in 10 years for Carr. They had the misfortune of being on dumpster fire teams for portions of their careers (Washington and the Raiders).

I congratulated TBob for seeing the vision. But the fact that it took beat writers reports and an article for him to see, shows that he has no innate vision like me and James. But James’ 17th ranking for Carr is still way low.

Very few saints fans want to hear it, but I will say it: Carr is criminally underrated. He is a top ten QB. Give him sane play calls in a functionally solid system...I guarantee it if injury doesn't stop it. Wait for it...let the hate begin.

Almost like they don't have a chance unless they're extremely lucky and land in a team that's good at drafting and who has good coaching. Carr lost that lottery.....as did Stafford, who was a mirror image of Carr until he was traded. Weird how the talent around the QB can effect how much that QB wins or loses.

Kamara was running wheel routes all practice, that’s all I need to know. Kubiak gets it and glad he is here

@@BrentonBannister-gc2pt Purdy is bad under pressure. Even the announcers say that. He threw 4 interceptions against the Ravens and folded in the SB under pressure. The Bugatti Carr, on the other hand, is a seasoned elite QB and he flourishes under blitzes. He threw for over 400 yards against the Ravens in 2021, winning the game in OT with a walk off TD pass to Zay Jones under an all out blitz. Purdy is a decent QB, but he doesn’t compare to the Bugatti.

i would love to see u on a show like this so u could absolutely takeover the whole segment with actual real legit arguments

The Cap Hit, with the way the Saints manipulate the cap isn’t really a fair comparison & if nothing else, I always try to present data or stats in the most fair & unbiased way. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s fine to present this year’s cap hit, along as it’s presented with the context of “Average per year” on the entire contract and potentially “guaranteed money”, if that is relevant to the conversation.

Why is Carr's whole career surrounded by "if"?

I hope I am dead wrong but I’m not optimistic about this “new” Saints offense. The same Saints beat writers said the exact same thing last year about the Saints offense and then when the regular season came around we couldn’t even move the ball. I’ll believe it when I see it.

What do you dislike about QBR? I get that the way its calculated is quite opaque. To be clear I agree with you that a context dependent stat like QBR should NOT be used for rankings or determining player ability on a career basis. However if you want to ask the question who was the most impactful quarterback last week, QBR is basically a win probability added stat. That is the one good thing WPA is actually good at. I dont see a problem w/ using QBR for something like saying "This year Carr was a top 12 QB" rather I think it would be wrong to say "Carr is a top 12 QB" based on QBR.

Lol the up/down 5 pts thing is just good situational football planning. Stats is stupid tho yes.

I think carr will do great with what we have but honestly we dont have that much, that o line could easily be the worst in the league, same with the TEs (even more now that johnson got Injuried), the rb room is Middle of the pack same as the wr room that outside of olave and shaheed is full of unproven guys (even olave hasnt cracked the top 15 in his position and has scored less than 10 tds in his career). This offense could easily suck tbh.

32 in 2015, 28 in 14 games of 2016 (over 30 if he didnt break his foot) and 30 total (3 rushing) in 2020 averaging 27ppg with agholor as wr1. He is more than capable of doing it, In fact olave alone costed him like 5 tds last season

He easily passes 30 TD's several more times in his career if not for injury, either to himself or his top weapons. Also he would have surpassed 30 TDS in 2021 if not for Gruden getting cancelled. He was on pace for close to 40 before that happened. Carr being held back by bad teams does not = a lack of ability.

Is Derek Carr great, no. Is he as awful as others believe, no. Derek Carr was never the Saints problem when it came to the offense
