Excellent Litanies by Krapp !!
It is very touching to imagine all these masters of organs conscientiously learning with Mme Alain in their young age.
Mr. Roth is so wonderful. He allows so many people, young and old to perform on this magnificent instrument to share the joy of the genius of Cavaille-Coll. I have Alain's Litanies played on the St. Sulpice organ. It is magnificent. It should be available as a recording

Music and Especially organ music is a window to the soul for so many …. It’s inbuilt and it’s foundations are constructed by those we are privileged to watch as lifetime spiritual architectural interpreters of those foundational building blocks….thank you to those who use head heart hands and feet to uplift humanity ALL OVER THE WORLD.
EK litanies in this video. Absolutely breathtaking. Thank you so much.
Thank you for including nearly all of Baker's rendition of the Dupré "Carillon" - a brilliant piece and performance!
That Duruflé is so lovely, bravo!

Daniel Roth certainly 'wears his heart on his sleeve' and comes across as an open, warm, honest human being...no virtuoso 'swank' and no hesitation at helping his colleagues. Gifted beyond measure - even in the most 'challenging' works - his performances are a joy to hear, and to behold! How lucky are Saint Sulpice - and France - to have musicians like Roth and Latry as their musical ambassadors!
Marie-Claire Alain played a recital at the church where I used to sing back in 2005. Every musician in the area it seems came to hear her play. As a young aspiring singer fresh out of music school, I had no idea who she was...but soon found out. She had accidently set the wrong stops for a piece and when she started to play she said "oops!" and then reset...and was such a pro about it. I was hoping that Diane Bish, one of her most famous students would have given a tribute to her...but I have found no evidence of that online.
A sad occasion; having said that, is EK's complete performance of Litanies available anywhere? First time I've heard it from S. Sulpice.
Virgil would NEVER have done such a thing (smile)
The French have it over the rest of us don't they culturally speaking incredible organs, extradionary composers, outstanding organists. I can't make up my mind whether Krapp or Wernier was my favourite the Litanies was heart wrenching Krapp put everything into it, but so did Vincent Warnier, Durufle's Prelude and Fugue sur le nom d'Alain ( unusual for the French not to write it correctly) the build up to the final cord requires such skill and energy, I heard Mme Durufle's play this piece in her eighties. Baker and the Dupre, Americans tend to play to fast to fit in with the acoustics, of course Roth as always brilliant, I can't stop listening to it!

Ailsa Rodrigues: What about the wonderful late Suzanne Chaisemartin, at Eglise St Augustin?
What was the name of the piece in the beginning?
Can we please have the whole concert?
Wonderful playing with one caveat - I wish we didn't have to see right up on the people playing with all the facial expressions and those of the page turners and/or stop pullers. One player looked as if he was literally about to have a heart attack with the exertion. Such a distraction from beautiful music to remember a wonderful organist.
