Improvisation like this proves her marvelous ability to THINK in music just as one would think in a language. Music IS a language and Cauchfer-Choplin is a master grammarian.

Sophie performed at St. Paul's in Indianapolis. The church submitted two themes for her to pick one and improvise. She did both themes simultaneously! Five of my A. P. biology students came to the concert. After the concert my students and I got to meet her. She was the kindest down to earth person. My students practiced their French with her. The kids were so excited that such a great musician was humble and engaging with them. Sophie's husband was there too, a real nice guy. I bought one of her CD's and Sophie singed it with a staff with the beginning notes of her improvisation on it. Sophie inspires with her great musicianship and genuine warmth toward others.

She is a wonderful person and awesome musician. She is amazing. I met her in the Aisle at St. Sulpice and asked, as an organist, if we could come up to the loft; and there you see the video of her improvisation. I'm so glad you were able to meet her.

It has been said that Truth walks naked in heaven but upon coming to earth must take upon herself a garment of many words. Sophie knows how to give these frequencies from heavenly realms countless forms upon the earth and walk among us... once again. Thanks for sharing your heart.

So much of life as we know it has changed in the few months since this inspirational performance, but the need to be lifted up spiritually by such amazing musicianship from Sophie-Veronique through the beloved Saint-Sulpice Cavaille-Coll is all the greater now. Thank you so much to all involved for sharing this recording - especially Sophie-Veronique! Bravo indeed from New Zealand!

Her improvised preludes and postludes are truly inspired. The grace of the Holy Spirit truly shines forth in every note she plays. "Anointed" is the only word that describes what she does.

It's often said that Europeans have lots of appreciation for the art... I fail to understand how come every single one of her performances wasn't recorded, at least the audio. That seems like travesty - this has to be preserved, every single one of those improvs. Digital storage has been very affordable and it'd cost next to nothing to record it properly with a proper microphone setup in the building. I'll buy the equipment if someone can donate the time and knowledge to install and set it up.

How is the person pulling out stops knowing what to pull out or push in, if she is improvising the entire thing? I ask out of amazement and curiosity, because he can't really know where she is going?

I believe there is a structure and form planned and after years of working together, the console assistants just know where she is going. She would also call out upcoming changes they would get ready. There is a high level of trust and bond that forms between these people.

@@JRPmuzik Thank you for that answer! I kind of thought there might be some sort of outline that she had, either written or mental, and also that she is verbally directing them. It's so amazing and inspiring to see people like her, and Daniel Roth, and others improvising the way that they do. :-)
