INCORRECT! the further the constellations are from the sun, the weaker their material! minor not minor in the sense of the word..pegasus is the biggest power how can u call it minor..even the anime has his name bro? i know u are describing like the anime did..but the saints describing it at that moment didnt know everything till hades elyssion part there are some saints that are sometimes bronze sometimes silver (orion, ophiucus, hydra ghost saints etc)..and the bronze ones changed to gold as well..blood of a god... cosmo is cosmo, divided by senses... cloth is not just cloth..and not everything about them is revealed yet

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 Normally all Athena's army Cloths are designed based in all 88 Constellations, including the 12 Zodiac signs, the only exception I remember to this rule is Cerberus Dante, a Silver Saint. But Scales from Poseidon's Generals and Surplices from Hades' Specters are inspired in mythological creatures from a lot of sources.

Gemini Saga is also amongst my favorite anime Villians. He's a bully who wants to overcome the other bullies (The gods). But in the means to protect the weak. He's more of a tragic hero. He personally believes his harsher penalties would serve as a sort of dome for mortals from whatever the gods would throw at them. He's psychopathic but you can somewhat understand his motives.

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 Ok let me put it out of the way first. I really did enjoy the series. I wouldn't think about it so much if I didn't enjoy it. I thought a lot about it so here is my tough on the matter: it makes sense since bronze saints are the first line of defense of the sanctuary alongside with foot soldiers. Even though they are 52 bronze saints that place is huge so it would make sense to have a armor that just cover the vitals and sacrifices defense over mobility. Silver saints have the function of getting out of the sanctuary and being a strike team that way they got more protection but still not enough to prevent them from moving freely. Gold saint are to protected their palaces so they stay in one place tanking all damage throw at them so it makes sense they have a armor that covers everything sacrificing mobility BUT as stated at the manga if you "sync" your Cosmo with your clothes' Cosmo it wights nothing and it feels like your are without armor at all so at least for me it doesn't make sense Athena doesn't giving the best protection that she can provide to all ranks. Shits gets worse when you get to the female saints the ones featured on the original series are silver saints and they have even less protection than the bronze saints.

Saint Seiya Omega os like the black sheep of the franchise (at least here on South America) but I really did enjoy character's motivations and interaction between each other. And of course there is the lost canvas wich a lot people really seem to enjoy.

I'm pretty sure I've seen all the anime spin-offs, the only exceptions would be the CGI reboots. I've read about half of Next Dimension and I haven't done any of the Episode G series. With Omega I prefer the Pallas Saga over then Mars portion, though I do wish Shiryu, Hyoga and Shun would have taken on the Great Sword first class Pallasites instead of it being so random. An issue I had with Omega was that many of the new Gold Saints just felt too close to their predecessors, but the new one whose character I really did enjoy was Gemini Paradox, as her split personality explored love and hate rather than following good and evil like Gemini Saga, so since she broke away from her predecessor I found her a bit more interesting, plus her obsession with Shiryu and his son provided a good justification for her corruption and subsequent siding with Mars and Pallas. Since you like the direction the characters took, I would recommend you try out Ring no Kakero (Masami Kuramada's first major work, later adapted into an anime in the mid 2000s), because many of Omega's new cast members were inspired the cast of Ring no Kakero. Soul of Gold: I enjoyed the color scheme, but much of the story could be awkward at several points like the Gold Saints struggled too much against their opponents, even though I know they were suffering from Loki's debuff at the time. It still felt too difficult and giving everyone a God Cloth, just lessened the value of it happening for the Bronze Saints against Hades in the original series. Saintia Sho caught me by surprise as going into I thought it was going to be a female knockoff that would lessen the accomplishments of the originals cast, but it actually treated them with respect. It also displayed several of the Sanctuary Saga's canonical manga events, so I enjoyed seeing them in the animated format, I actually used a clip of it in this video. With Lost Canvas I would say I enjoyed the second season more than first, I think I lessened the experience with the first half, because I watched it immediately after the original anime adaption, so I was probably more used to the different art style by the second season by the viewing time of the second season.

BIG TEXT: most of it is about omega. I just feel people talked a lot shit about it just for nostalgia sake instead analyzing it by itself. Soul of Gold felt to me like Toei saw the amnount of divine gold cloth fan art around there and finally decided to make a profit out of it. They story is not bad but just like the saga of asgard, it just felt unecessary. Saintia Sho felt rushed cause they cutted or changed a lot of stuff from the manga and the animation is super inconsistent sometimes it looks good, sometimes it looks bad sometimes there is no animation and everything just felt a like a moving slide-show with voice over. I'm currently reading episode g and I'm liking it. The whole fighting only gods is what I expected to next dimension to be and I'm not sure what I think about buffing the gold saints I mean now they are super over powered and break physics more they used to. If the bronze saint from the original faced the gold saints from episode g I just feel they would be obliterated. Next Dimension... It's not bad I just have a strong bias against time travel bullshit. Episode g assassin: next to read and I heard there time travel bullshit and other dimensions... Oh boi. Lost canvas they took the "best part" of the original series, the saga of hades and develop it more than the original series I really much to complain about it. I need to read the manga of that shit I'm curious about how it ends. Saint Seiya Omega I was mainly referring to the bronze saints motivations to be there. Yuna lived through a war and doesn't want that to happen anyone. Kouga wants to save Athena because she raised him so for him is kinda like saving his mom. Eden genuinely thinks what his father is doing is right and even becomes a saint to protected Athena (even though he is referring to aria and not actually Athena), then the whole I wanted to protect the world that aria loved Wich is also a motivation shared with Kouga. Ryuho wants to become strong to heal his father. Souma became a saint just to get revenge on her father's murder wich leads to my favorite interaction between characters in the whole wich is the interaction between Souma and Sonia (I think never shipped anyone the whole franchise, but hey here you go). Sonia in her end connects also with Eden, Aria and her Father. I guess Mars is one of the few villains on the series that if he legitimate won against Athena it wouldn't be that bad, he even managed to convinced saints to join him and his motivations are not bad as well. About the gold saints I totally agree with you with paradox , and that the gold saints should be more effective against first class pallacites (come on one of them faced literally all of the gold saints, not all at once but all the gold saints alive at that moment of the series and the ones who manage to defeat her were the bronze saints? Fuck that Omega bullshit that just doesn't click for me) I really enjoyed Harbinger and Genbu on the Pallas season. The Capricorn one was under used there are other animes with characters with similar power to him and they are over powered nas fuck. Kiki... Well he is totally what I expected him to be. Amor is ok. The rest of them are just kinda blend and dull. Pallas was the worse case of "notice me senpai" ever. It was clever of Saturn to make two goddess face of and them pick the weak one after the battle. Eden thinking about why he is fighting for Athena again, since Athena and her knights killed everyone he loved and having serious a talk about that with seiya was also good. Haruto made a band who cares. I liked they used the steel saints as an upgraded foot soldier version, that they got names, personalities and that they can fight by themselves. And I enjoyed that the old bronze saints got a mentor like status and became those guys that when they show off you know shit will go down.

One correction: Kanon was actually equal to Saga, not weaker than him. Even though Ikki viewed him as weaker at first, he later remarks his strength is exactly the same as Saga's once he starts fighting seriously just before Sorrento interrupts their fight. Milo also confirms Kanon's Cosmo is equal to his brother's during the early events of the Hades Arc too.

I'm not necessarily doubting you, but I bet this topic happens to be a area where all the different translations and fansubs have their own interpretation of this subject, because if I remember correctly in the version I saw both scenes included the word "might/could be" rather than explicitly saying something like equal, so I wouldn't be surprised if we're both technically right based on which version we respectively saw.

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 Using the Viz translation of the manga (considering how notoriously bad some of the fansubs can be), Ikki states "His strength mirrors Saga's too." which seems the most accurate given its official status and the context added. About twin brothers, in Ring ni Kakero - Kurumada's first successful manga - there is Kenzaki who starts out as a villain and later a rival to the protagonist, and in the future we find out that he had a brother who is the leader of a group of villains in one future arc (shadow arc). Ok, I admit I don't know any of the other circumstances holding you back from recording, but if this may serve as a confidence booster I'll speak it, I literally record my audio on a cheap old cell phone, so its not like I have some vast array of equipment to improve my audio, and if you thought my sound quality was fine, its not that hard to attain.

Interesting plot point of the manga that never gets brought over to the anime adaptations is that all of the bronze saints are brothers, not just Ikki and Shun. It's why Hyoga never feels like he's alone. Saori is also their adopted sister. It feeds into why they are so protective of her. However, they don't find out that she's adopted immediately. Seiya and Saori fall in love before they find out that she's adopted. So there's a bit of angst about that in the manga.

@Bright Light That was a plot point I didn't learn about till after I uploaded this video. Manga-wise I mainly focused on Sanctuary and later. For me I think it omission works in the sense that its inclusion took away from the more personal aspects between Shun and Ikki, but in all likelihood I think it stems from the anime's production occurring so close to the release of the manga, the anime's studio had probably already written and partially animated later episodes before its revelation in the manga, meaning they would have to scrap lots of completed work; so they likely just omitted that plot point to keep their work in tact.

@lonelyboyadventurer1033 The big difference is that in the manga, Shun is the most powerful of the brothers. So he doesn't really need Ikki's help. The other brothers, on the other hand, do. Their brotherhood and relationship with Saori is why the brothers are able to keep going through their losses because no matter what they all know that they aren't alone, and Saori for her part is closer to the Bronze Saints in the manga because of this (she's their niece). Hence why all of the Bronze Saints are willing to die for her. It's not just blind loyalty they are protecting their family. It also created angst between Seiya and Saori because Seiya is actually Saori's uncle (before they find out that she's adopted- also Greek Mythology is wild).

@diegosotomiranda4107 Seiya's group would die for each other without hesitation. You don't see it on the og series ironically because it ended before we started seeing that. Its why they go so hard for Saori, because to them, she is Saori not Athena. The anime really did emphasive Ikki saving Shun whereas in the manga Shun never needs anyone to save him because he is the strongest in their group. She's not perfect in the manga either as the only person that initially knows that everyone is related is Ikki. And that relation is the only reason why everyone is able to come together. As Saori, yeah, she's more Saori than Athena. She is flawed just like Athena from her mythos. Especially in the manga where she never really stops being a brat but she's their brat.

For me, the Hades Chapter is the most disappointing one while it's apparently viewed as the best written one by fans which I think is credited mostly for the Shun/Hades revelation. I was so excited for the story to explore the depths of Hell as soon as the map of Hades world was introduced but it's unfortunately not the case - especially that Kurumada must have at one point planned individual confrontations by the 6th prison - the Prison itself being divided into 4 parts - Labyrinth for Gordon Minotaur, Hellish forest for Harpy Valentine, Desert for Basilic Sylphide, it's weird there's no particular spot for Alraune Queen though he might have been intended to share his spot with Valentine in the forest of suicides (considering the myth of the Madragore/Alraune)... Perhaps the Seventh Prison with it's 10 Maleborges would have introduced additional fights for the Gold Saints along with the Palaces of the Judges that lay beyond them... A lot of people tend to say Saint Seiya is repetitive - always a race against the clock with mini-boss rushes but I always viewed Saint Seiya as more as a manga to be enjoyed with characters with a story of their own right (via their design/inspirations and attacks even though they weren't developed as characters - namely Poseidon's Generals) rather than a story with lots of twists and turns or revelations... The characters are most of the time cool and interesting enough for them to not have a defined backstory... I find it just sad that the last Chapter's main arc - the Inferno part had barely any noteworthy fight while before that every single one from the Sanctuary arc was unique and outstanding in their own right.

I'm pretty sure I said this in my Bleach/Saint Seiya video, but I felt the Hades Chapters held the greatest potential of any Saint Seiya arc, but couldn't live up to those expectations. Though I do understand why some can see it as the best as it arguably had the most powerful moments literally and figuratively, like the gold saints death or the shattering of their armor were some of the most emotional scenes in the entire franchise, likewise I could see people simply enjoying it because the main cast attained their highest level of power, I wouldn't be surprised if some preferred the Hades Chapter's anime adaptation more because it had a more modern art style over the original's. That's very interesting about the prison being divided it 4 parts, I always wished their would have been more scenes to help distinguish them from the lower tiered soldiers of Hades. In terms of the backstories for characters I don't necessary think they're required for Saint Seiya antagonists, as their aura is more so what sells them. Like Hades minions are pretty much supposed to be seen as monsters or at least during the sanctuary Saga the gold saints are practically portrayed as deities, so I think in both cases giving them well developed backstories would have humanized them and disrupted the image of what Kuramada was intending for.

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 When it comes to back-stories in Saint Seiya, namely the original manga, likewise I don't think it's necessary for them to have one as the characters are all pretty much unique in their ideologies and way of life like - MIlo, Shaka, and Aldebaran all have a different view on how to do their Saint duty even though we know nothing of their personal lives, the same for Poseidon's Marinas with Io, Krishna and Sorrento each having a different ideology on why they believe Poseidon is in the right and what justice is... And that's what make all of those characters very interesting, while on the other hand, none of the Specters are explored as such except perhaps Papilon Myu... However, I kinda don't like how Gold Saints nowadays are portrayed as 'Perfect Beings' (namely Teshirogi who wrote TLC regards her Gold Saints as imperfect compared to those of the original manga - even though some are more well-written than Kurumada's ). This has led to the Gold Saints being unbeatable and portrayed as being almighty such as in Soul of Gold or Saintia Sho whereby the writers have to input clumsy plot-devices to boost the antagonists. I think a lot of people tend to want to have characters as tragic and deep as the Asgard God Warriors but while the Asgard of 86 was well written when it is done just for the sake of it, it's just whatever like in Omega whereby each Gold Saint HAD to have a flashback while by having original fighting styles compared to the Golds of the original manga should have been their main selling point. I personally never was much attached to the Gold Saints to the point of wanting them in every adaptation hence why I enjoy the 4th movie a lot because it focuses on the Seiya Team's bonds and sense of justice while most of the fandom berates it for one-shooting the Golds at the beginning.

In regards to me calling the Gold Saints near deity-like I was more so referring to their initial introductions rather than who they are as characters, for instance in the first half of the story their portrayal as almost otherworldly beings, rather as a actual humans (minus Aiolia) better cemented the idea that they were levels beyond the bronze saints, but with that said I believe fleshing them out later on in the series after the main cast were closer in strength (and on better terms) with them worked in the story's favor by showing that the Gold Saints weren't all that different in the end, thus humanizing them. Yeah, I agree about the Gold Saints inclusion into everything, it just raises too many suspension of belief type moments, "how is the opponent so strong" or "why would they fall for this". That's actually one of the reasons why I'm such a fan of Heaven's-Overture.

Lonely Boy Adventurer Yeah especially since Saint Seiya is a pure Nekketsu Shounen - whereby characters have to surpass themselves in battles at each turn of story to win over their opponents, it’s just comes out as flat when Gold Saints barely struggle as much as Seiya and co. Overture was a good direction (considering how the Bronze struggle in battle) and if the rumors of the 12 Gold returning later via Athena freeing them from their sealed pillar, it would have been very interesting to see the whole team go against the Olympians in epic battles of the same fashion.

Classic SS stayed faithful to its story and character writing as well without compromising any of it. Great analysis!! i just want to correct the Kamei part, yes Athena had something to do with they aweakening them , the cloths are alive they feed of blood, different types of blood give different effects to the armors, but they need cosmos to unlock said effect, example after being revived by gold saint's blood they turn golden if the user burns its cosmos to the 7th sense and actually you temporarily gain the effects of said tier armor, the cloths aid your cosmos by keeping it on a certain level on all moments but they need you to have said mastery of cosmos to work, by having Athena's blood effects their armors were able to keep their cosmos burning at the level of a god but they had to achieve said power level by themselves first, of course neither Saori nor Seiya and company knew this, ist was all planned by Pope Shion who's Athena's advisor and warmaster (or should have been if not for Saga), the keeper of the secrets of the sanctuary and its weapons it adds a deeper level to an history knowing that Shion planned the war from the moment he took that gamble with Hades and being branded as an Traitor, he had a plan and executed said plan masterfully with the resources he had, and his knowledge of cloths himself being part of the race of beings who actually created them, giving Athena and the humans the chance to win the war against Hades once and for all. He knew Athena needed to die to go to Hades Realm Using her blood he aweakened her Cloth And then using that blood he upgraded the armors of the strongest warriors in the sanctuary, i assume Saga and the others told him about what those 5 were capable of so he knew if someone were capable of aweakening and using said weapons as the Kamei are where them, all this paid very well allowing them to go to Elisium and killing everyting on their path, Shion is the unsung hero of the last war against hades, i bet he died again with a smile on his face knowing that humanity would win.

I have seen all but the live action movie of Saint Seiya. Movie 3 is honestly my favorite even with that rather questionable ending of a Gold Saint being able to beat a God. Movie 2 seems to be what you mentioned as being the inspiration for the Asgrad Filler. It was the most confusing movie to me since there were no gods fighting, the battle wasn't heated and for some reason Hyoga was a bad guy and reverted back without explaination. I hope the movie how I watched wasn't the full version since stuff happen at random for me to progress. Movie 5 you mentioned I don't know how to feel. It was a bit too suttle. I don't mind the ending but a lot of the time I didn't know what was happening in the story. The fights focused a lot of each blow which was amazing when seeing it in the first fight, but after repeated use it got annoying. Maybe I need a second watch or just progress in my mind how I feel. The others were ok. The one with Lucifer being more enjoyable than the one with Eris. But weird how they made Abel look like a bad guy. I also watched Saintia Sho which I had a hard time to fit in the timeline. Events played out a little different. Is the story focused on the manga version of Saint Seiya because Saga killed himself with his armor on and Athena new she is Athena before the Phoenix Ikki arc started. And I recall not knowing that before the first Gold Saint fight began. But I like Shoko as a character. She is not a mary sue and doesn't seem to win without deserving it. At least the anime since there were only 10 episodes and I don't even know if she won a fight at all. But the other female characters added didn't do anything and feel like an afterthought. Eris' children were disposed like nothing. That one little girl got one shotted in the same episode where she got enough of a power up to fingerflick her opponent. There was also a focus on Gemini Saga and they wanted Aiolia to get his payback. But we didn't see him finish it so there was no resolution. But ignoring those issues and just focusing on the main plotline, I think it was well written and enjoyable to watch. But now with the introduction of Saintias it kinda makes it a little more confusing to compare them to Saints since we also have female Saints, only that the former doesn't wear masks. I tried to watch Saint Seiya Omega but dropped it the moment they introduced Cosmo being split into 6 elements. It kinda hit me the wrong way and reminded me how Naruto did the same thing and how it made things way harder to progress what means what. Is the Silver Saint with the Medusa powers a rock cosmo user or a light cosmo user? Could Shun have gotten the Phoenix armor but would use wind because that's his Cosmo Element? Do you get what I mean?

I prefer the Eris movie over Lucifer's, since it better remained within the series set perimeters; power wise and concept wise. With Santia Sho, I'm pretty sure its manga counterpart continues on afterwards, but I don't know if the anime will ever continue; I also think that's why most of the Santias never did anything of merit too as that's when they fulfill a role. Correct the story follows the manga's iteration of the story. One of the reasons for why I enjoyed the series regarded how it revered the original series, like (at least so far) it hasn't forced qualities like "Shoko will actually surpass Seiya." Saint Seiya Omega is one of the reasons for why I titled my Ultimate Muscle video the way I did. I will say it did the Gemini Saint, a female gold saint in an interesting way, but overall I can't recommend the series. And yes I see what you mean about the inclusion of elements, I actually forgot they introduced that.

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 I think the movie was already really crowded with the 3 underlings and 5 gold saints. Not sure how the other ones could be added without feeling a bit out of place. Seeing how things turned out now, Gold Saints seem to get a little too much focus. Movie 2 we saw him beaten and locked up. But there is no indication when the swap between that one god warrior happened. What they did to control him nor how Hyoga was freed. He fought Shiryu and suddenly appeared as an ally on the battle field. There were a lot of things like that especially how the Main Antagonist betrayed the prince. How there was a hint that Odin wouldn't like this and maybe another god has his hands in play (hence the name of the movie) but nothing like that got answered. It felt weird. The reason I like Movie 4 over 1 is how the antagonist went about forcing Athena to give to his demand. Even letting her walk through a thorny path to him. I get the power level issue, I feel that was done decently regardless since the antagonists underlings showed promise in terms of combat. They attacked the Gold Saints all 4 together so there is some room for believability. Shaka may be the odd one but I was surprised how his powers worked since when he was introduced he and Aiorios seemed even. And that both would kill each other if Saga didn't intervene. But with the knowledge we have later, Shaka may be able to defeat any Gold Saint without much issue. Santia Sho had just 10 episodes. I don't mind if they change a bit of the stuff of the actual events if the major things remain the same. I may read the manga version next but now I found the sub version of Nisei so I want to see the existing 28 episodes so far before I get busy again. I don't mind inclusion of elements since we saw cosmo in form of ice powers and such. But after such a long time deciding that there are just 6 elements and you can only control one just doesn't feel right. Maybe you can use mental gymlastics to argue what is what element, but it just feels like a hastle. Naruto had those bloodline limits that got retconned to be combination of existing elements. How can people explain what element the Uchiha's eye powers fall in? Perhaps you can make an argument to anything like Fire represents life, Water flow of time, Wind calmness or whatever. That late in the story that is the last thing we needed.

Shurei is definitely my favorite Copper Saint in the 5 main protagonists. I also believe that's the case for most of the boys back in the day we watched it. His battles are always the most soul-crushing and costly, yet he always put others before himself. In comparison Seiya was just corny for the sake of being corny. Among all the friends who also watched the show (and read the manga) in their youth, Seiya is never anyone's favorite. But there are people out there making fun of Shurei as well, saying that he's an exhibitionist who doesn't know how to fight except naked.

I finished the Asgard arc and it honestly didn't much like filler at all and it moved almost seemlessly into the next arc. Unless the Posseidon arc is filler too. I subconciously paid a little more attention I think than usually since you mentioned that its filler and so I had a few issues. But they were addressed later on like how a Gold Saint could lose that quickly while the Bronze Saints could put more of a fight even if they were overwhelmed. More of the issues I have were from the subtitles themselves. If I didn't have some experience from listening to Japanese voice acting, I would likely criticize some of the dialog. At the filler portion they either remove dialog or add randomly bronze to the word saint despite not mentioning the type of saint the characters are. I have to say I really enjoyed the God Warrior more than expected. I thought maybe 1 or 2 would get fleshed out but each of them got a decent amount of time to develop and for us to understand their motivation. Even the traitor one, but I wish he got a little more for us to understand why he is going so extreme. At first I thought he wants acknowledgement tho his morals lead him to do dirty work others wouldn't dare like having an unhonorble fight. But its more like he wants to overthrow her just because. Will take a little break before going into the I assume final arc of the original anime series. Are there any movies or ovas I should take a look before I go before starting the continuation of Saint Seiya?

@M3rtyville Yeah it transitioned into the next arc easier than even the manga. Poseidon Arc is Canon. I will say for me the Nordic (non-Greek) theme somewhat produced a fillerish vibe. Saint Seiya possesses an infamy for differences between translations. Like one subtitling group implied two characters were "of equal strength" while another said "he is almost as strong"; I think it just stems from the series dealing in intangible subjects, semi-contradictory material and not exactly nailing what it intends to say which forces many translators to interpret the dialogue in their own way, resulting in inconsistencies between versions. The Asgard arc is one of the reason of why I said in my "Why I prefer Anime over Manga" video for why I don't have an irrational hate for filler. In a certain way I might actually argue it as superior to the canon Poseidon Saga. The Hades Saga adapted into 3 sets of 12 episodes OVAs; ordering Sanctuary, Inferno, Elysium; but they come after the original anime series. With the movies I've only seen 1,2 & 5, I intended to watch all of them a few years back, but I cut off and never got around to returning because I had to edit a massive months long Black Clover/My Hero Academia video. To me the best Saint Seiya film would be movie 5: Heaven's Overture, which occurs after after the Hades OVAs. At release it was technically canon, but a manga continuation rewrote its events. I will say this can be a polarizing movie as many view it as a pretentious art-house non-canon film that doesn't perfectly clarify what happens, but again I view it highly I would say if you watch it view like one of the filler spiritual scenes of Dragon Ball Z to understand what its production went for. I consider the first movie as the next best one and I'll say its exactly what you'd expect a Saint Seiya movie to be. The second film inspired the Asgard Arc as it essentially followed the same plot, except it featured a different (and in my opinion less interesting) set of God Warriors. Its financial success spawn its filler counterpart in the weekly anime. It has a few good scenes towards the end. I haven't watched it but from the few clips I've seen I got the impression movie 4 loosely adapts the Hades Saga, but with a different antagonist.

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 Funny enough, I actually did still decide to finish it since not many episodes where left and had the same thought. The Sea Warriors just didn't have the same staying power as the Gold Saints and God Warriors. They were treated almost as bad as the Silver Saints. I don't recall anyone being much memorable. Only Isaac since he is related to Hyoga but even he didn't leave much lasting impression. I liked the idea of Saga having a twin brother. But now looking at it it wasn't handled good at all. He just doesn't have anything interesting about him besides figuring out the truth about his brother. But the ending itself was still satisfying. Porseidon may not a good final boss, he is serving his purpose as a generic overpowered antagonist. I will take a look at the movies before moving to the final arc, then.

@M3rtyville The Sea Warriors do have some interesting dynamics, such as Pegasus, the winged Horse vs. the Sea Horse, but that doesn't automatically make them memorable and arguably writes them more as roles than as characters. I will say most of Kanon's (Saga's Brother) best moments occur in the Hades Saga of the story.

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 I finished today the Hades Chapters. I could only find one of the Original Saint Seiya movies so I just jumped to see the story finish and you are right. I really liked the Hades Chapters especially when the death Gold Saints came back. And Kanon took the role of the mentor for the Bronze Saints, stood against his brother and redeemed himself. I still wish he wasn't lackluster of an antagonist to make it feel more special. The Gold Saints were also used very well to showcase their own strength and the antagonists. But Shiryu's master should have gotten an on-screen fight instead of just being a tease. If he didn't show his youth form but died instead, I would have been satisfied, but now I hunger for more. Also the interaction between the "villainous" Gold Saints and the current ones was enjoyable. Not just in term of "What if" senarious. Most the time I feel such things are executed poorly like the Bleach filler fights using clones of the Captains against each other so we get some "dream match ups". Other than that I feel Hades defeat was mediocer. Liked it more than the Bleach ending. They could have easily put Seiya uniting with his sister in the outro but I guess that is how it goes. And surprisingly only 1 of Posseidon's Gold Knights were revived. The opening of the first Chapter is probably my favorite. Seeing the Hades Chapters in general ironically reminded me how the Hell arc in my book is going to play out. It may be the longest arc with so many ideas I still want to implement. Just really hard to fit them all together and to comprimize. I will look at the video you recommented tommorow.

I find siblings being written in media very intriging or families in general. In my book, one of the main characters is part of a bloodline that can learn earth attribute based techniques by witnessing their execution. Earth Element users in terms of flexibility are the most powerful element users thus far, and I have trouble to balance the other element users to make them similary believable as earth can refer to metals, sand, soil, minerals as well as their attributes like mass, hardness, conductivity to electricty and heat etc. And the driving force for his desire for power and him not faltering to any opponent is a murder to his parents which in this case is his elder sister who has the name given of God of the Land and represents the peak of a earth element user, that isn't the Element Master. I am rewriting the exact reason for the death of the parents from time to time, since nothing really satisfies me, but overall there was no malicious intend for their death. But in order to protect her brother, the elder sister would rather have him hate her instead of telling the 'truth' which involves a certain mastermind. Thus she distanced herself from everyone but a handful of people to create a secret agency network to figure out the next step of said villain, while posing the role of a guardian of a certain place. There is a scene I have written where she asks her brother for permission to protect him, despite distancing herself from everyone but a very close group of people she trusts. There are also two antagonists that have siblings. One being involved in the story arc he is introduced to stop him. Another sibling for the other antagonist appearing in a later arc to take away territory.

@Thomas Ffrench The manga has more consistency in storytelling, continuity and powerscaling while the anime absolutely excels at action sequences. I'll flat out say this about the anime it's one of my favorite series to edit for that reason. The same applies to the more spiritual moments, like when powering up (burning cosmo) or a character's constellation appears, where its animation masterfully gives off a mystic vibe, which still images I feel still images can struggle with. In regards to the anime's story sometimes it can be a little messy, like it released only a month or two behind the manga, so when the anime took some liberties, they sometimes clashed with later narratives of the story, for instance the anime gave Hyoga a new teacher named the crystal saint, which forced the anime to rewrite the battle against Aquarius Camus into a thematic battle of beating your master's master, now that didn't necessarily weaken the plot, but in some ways it can feel odd at times.

For example, in the canon of the anime, there are 3 Popes: Sion, his younger assistant Ares*, and then Saga the usurper, who killed Ares 13 years ago and then took his place. In the anime, Sion is still alive at the beginning of the story, and it's him who gives the Pegasus cloth to Seiya. Saga only kills Sion during the Galaxian Wars, after finding out that Athena is still alive. Still pretending to be Ares, Saga kills Sion and then proclaims himself the new official Pope. Whereas in the manga, there are only 2 Popes : Sion, and Saga the usurper who pretended to be Sion for 13 years. *the real Ares was a Silver Saint, that assisted Sion (who was old and weak) in his daily tasks. He even ruled the Sanctuary on his behalf, by proxy. Sion was much too old and diminished, therefore he did very little except introduce apprentices to their teachers and appoint new Saints. That's why it's was much more interesting for Saga to take Ares's place rather than Sion's, seeing as in pratice, it was Ares who had full powers.

so I finally got to watch Saint Seiya and am at Episode 40. I really enjoyed many of the characters and the story thus far. The only complain I have so far is that the Silver Saints seem a little bit too fodderized. Misty seemed like the only one that posed a real threat in terms of skill. The fire guy had impressive power but since they all get defeated in just 2 episodes, there isn't much staying power in my memory. I guess in a sense not all of them will get equal treatment, but considering I only felt like one posed a threat in terms of fighting skill and the Medusa guy only being dangerous because of his ability left me lots to be desired. Anything after that felt no different than these average Dark Saints and weren't even a step above Shaina who I thought would be around Marin's level. I hope the Gold Saints don't end up the same way. And so far of the 4 we saw, all of them had impressive showings.

@M3rtyville The Gold Saints definitely leave a more lasting impression than the silvers. I know I said this in my Bleach video, but I equate The Gold Saints arc to Bleach's Soul arc. I will say I agree with your criticisms, and I think much of that stems from having a team of protagonists over a single one, as instead of having to add one every now and then, they now have to basically quadruple the number of antagonists. In saying that much of what makes Saint Seiya great regards how far characters are willing to push themselves (sense of duty) and their brotherly loyalty (honor). By the way on my Anime vs. Manga video I had actually contemplating asking you if you had watch Saint Seiya/Nisei: Ultimate Muscle yet. I just didn't want too sound intrusive.

@M3rtyville I know just wrote a video basically saying the opposite, but the manga possessed a slightly more coherent system of differentiating the bronze saints from the silver saints. Like in the character designs for the manga the silver's armor included knee high boots, whereas as the bronzes only had kneepads. A reason for why Shaina holds dominance over other characters exists, though it's not discussed in the original story, but referenced in the later released sequel story Saint Seiya: Next Dimension which regards how (even in real life) the Ophiuchus constellation unofficially holds the status of the 13th Zodiac. Since you said you're at episode 40, I'll mention this, and it's that the world somewhat hints saints aren't necessarily locked into a caste system; you've already seen Seiya don the Sagittarius armor, like later on in the story it implies the main characters all possess a gold saint equivalent and that should something happen to them, the bronzes would likely inherent their positions, and from that rationale is why I see it as fair for the main characters being able to take on silver saints, as basically their true roles are currently occupied. Yeah I know the feeling I've been busy all this year thus far.

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 I finished the Gold Saint arc. It was very enjoyable to watch and had a very satisfying end. I don't think any of the Gold Saint were shafted and got enough time to shine. The thing that bothered me is that many of the cold saints had similar hair color and hair length. I think I mistook the Scorpion saint and Cancer once. Only after Milo reappeared I realized that's actually a different character. It satisfied me enough to write further in my own story. I only watched 2 episodes from the Odin arc (I assume that is what it is from the 1 Episode). The use of field tactics, the idea of the sevens sense and even challenging the ideals of the Gold Saint helped me solve a few issues I had with my story. In one story arc there are like 12 antagonists involved with some being opposing to another party but not ally to the protagonists. Each being at least as strong as the previous antagonist of the story. There are some characters that I don't want to lose but still give the protagonists a way to reach victory. It's pretty hard when there is one being closest to god, a guy that can kill anyone who touches him and a warrior with over millions of years of battle experience to simply lose by being "caught off guard" or be overpowered.

What is your general opinion on Saint Seiya Lost Canvas? I am on Episode 10 since I have trouble finding old movies so I decided to just look whatever that is. Seems like a prequel to the original. I don't like the main character so far. Mainly because he feels a little too overpowered for a bronze saint at the start and his voice is hard to bear. One of the reasons I can't enjoy Fairy Tail since the main character seems to share a similar voice actor. But I don't think its bad. The Specters seem decent but the old Gold Saints seem to drop a little too early. They have a decent showing. And I recall being disappointed by Dohko not getting to fight more in the original Saint Seiya in his youth form. Now he apparently spams his strongest attack removing a lot of the impact. Such a golden opportunity and they waste a really good chance to show his true might. But then again, he probably doesn't have the same power as his elderly more wise counterpart and its to be expected for him to use his trump card earlier. It still rubs me the wrong way. And besides Gold Saints and the MC, the other Saints don't seem to matter. The Unicorn Saint may get some more focus. He is proactive and it's nice to see more of the other Cloth get their full capabilities explored because we only saw handful of their potential and they lost in their debut fight.

@M3rtyville I will say Lost Canvas improves with season 2, but I don't view this series anywhere near as highly as the original story. I respect in the sense that it didn't just reuse the counterparts to the modern day (80's era) protagonists, and instead focused on Unicorn and Crane, or even how it didn't just repeat the old formula in general but I ultimately believe the series didn't culminate in anything more than a spinoff. Though in saying that among the Saint Seiya fandom most of them view this as the best spinoff, but in my opinion I'd towards Santia Sho. I actually considered writing a video about it called "Santia Sho: How to Write a Female Spin Off Correctly", but too much time passed, and I found myself more invested in other projects. If you stop to analyse Saint Seiya's core concepts you will find that its heavily inspired on the budism, especially how Kurumada aproches the senses. For instance, the eighty senses is the only way for a person to reach the underworld "alive", that means, they would not go by the rules established by Hades upon the underworld (Arayashiki - Alaya-vijana). The budism predicts nine knowings and that's where Saint Seiya goes. And i love how Kurumada come up with the (cosmos). Everything is made of atoms and those same atoms came from the big-bang (origin of the universe), so the concept for super human strenght in Saint Seiya is to replicate inside of one self the same energy. The seven sense, which is the essense of the cosmos is exaclly that, the person goes beyond its limits, generaring a big bang inside himself in order to explode everthing in front of him. Some of Seiya's feats during his jorney are comparable to the big-bang, which a fun fact, three gold Saints can generate the same energy of the big bang using Athena's Exclamation. There's a lot of cool concepts in SS. Its worth your while if you want to know from where the autor draw them.

@Lucas Brockini Saint Seiya's relation to Buddhism is a topic I wish I would have discussed more in this video, namely I regret not going deeper into Shaka's lotus shaped energy, but at the same time its comprehensive nature opens up more room for misinformation on my part, so it might have actually been good on my part to not venture too deeply down this road.

@japoniano This aspect is more pronounced in the manga than in the anime, like the original variant's major difference starts of as just knee pads and a single chest plate, then evolves to cover then entire chest and gain shin pads and finally transforms to merge the knee and shin pads together, while also extending the shoulder coverings beyond the torso.

Cosmo isn't the equivalent of Ki. Ki exists in the world of Saint Seiya, and mastering the use of ki is a prerequisite for learning the use cosmo. When Shaka fights Ikki he uses Tenbu Horin to strip him of all his 5 senses, then seeing how he was using ki to stand up and telepathically communicating with Shun Shaka stripped him of the 6th sense as well, wich means ki.

@ARX 351 I wrote this video several years ago, so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I used "equivalent of ki" in the context of fuel behind energy attacks in relation to other series rather than as actual ki. If not though I appreciate your clarification on this subject.

Saint Seiya failed in the US because it landed after DBZ. Had it been televised at the same time (dubbed & without censoring [green blood, etc]) it'd have done as well as it did all over the world. Saint Seiya is only seen as a commercial failure in the US... everywhere else, it's in the pantheon of 90's anime.

The armor do not boost your power, it just protect you from the atomic attacks of other knights. Also you are wrong about Athena. She, like the other gods, have her real body in the realm of the gods and possess a human woman Saori Kido who is her avatar on earth. Like Poseidon and Hades also have their avatars on earth. The only difference between Athena and the other gods is that she do not forcefully take control of her avatar but live in harmony with her.

@kagetsuki23 I'm not trying to sound rude, but you're gonna have to provide citations to convince me otherwise. I will say not all translations or releases (country/company) follow the same interpretation of story, so that could account for your differing variation.

Saint Seiya is a bit like Diego Maradona. You can not really eplain it, you had to whitness it when it happened. I was 10 or 11 when Saint Seiya exploded onto France. Man. This was way more than a just TV Show for the Genration that grew up with it.

@@lonelyboyadventurer1033 It made me choose to take the path of studying and working in animation so i have no trouble to believe that. Glad you enjoyed the comparison btw. The fact u mentioned the artist thing actually triggered an unconcious observation to surface that is related to english speaking videos about Saint Seiya and also yours (loved it so its not meant to be criticism just an observation) They are always about the themes, the plot, the characters and the opening. The soundtrack also is mentintioned more often than not but no one ever mentions the Art or Shingo Araki & Michi Himeno . And you would never find a latin video about the series that doesn't take at least 5 minutes to straight up worship the guy and his female associate. Its literally one of the few series in which the Anime Staff is way, way more popular than the actual creator. Saint Seiya has, when done by the A Team (Epsodes1,16,21,30,43,51,56,60,74,100,105,111 &114 and the Movies 1-3) a very distinctive and unique look and way to animate like the how the hair moves in this kind of almost hypnotic cycle, the play with perspective deformation and viewing angles that somehow never gets adressed in english speaking videos but is absolutely fetishized by fans all over the world. If you ever want to dive into that i'll suggest you pick 51 which in my opinion is the prettiest of them all and 56 because it's probably the best and try to look what makes them so special and compare them with other stuff out of the same time because the Art is a major, major reason why this series beat out it's competition back then and why it left such an impact.

@Stephan Clemens I can definitely see what you mean with the art style especially with the hypnotic flow of hair. What always impressed me about the series was its editing, like between editing a few videos featuring Saint Seiya I've spent probably around 100 hours examining the individual frames and sequences of the series, and I've always found it the most enjoyable anime to edit. In particular one sequence that amazed me occurred during the battle between Ikki and Shaka where the former experienced hallucination of himself playing football (soccer) as a kid and the scene used the ball to cover the audience's view to cut to a new angle. On another note in my most recent video I actually discuss why I prefer the look of the anime to its creator's own style, admittedly its not as deep as what you may be requesting. I will say with your observation you definitely picked up on something because I rarely see English speaking anime youtubers discussing animation. Again I'm glad you enjoyed my video.
