It's funny how this video left out the fact that pokemon Paul the second would not see this man. And how the catholic church literally turned its back on south America and Latin America. They had a theology that called liberation theology that pope John Paul did not agree with. The catholic church is directly responsible for the death of archbishop Oscar Romero

Saint Oscar Romero is a great friend and intercessor for those suffering from OCD. He was diagnosed late in his life and received care for it until his death. Remember scrupulosity/OCD or any mental illness are not hindrances to becoming a Saint but perhaps even paths toward relying on God for help facing the darkness of one’s own mind 🙏🏻🤍seek spiritual and professional help.

Oh, following Jesus will cost me EVERYTHING. I believe so. The disciple part/stuff. I lost some Facebook friends when tagging them about Christianity in 2020. Christ changed my life in 2020. I have repented at March & I chose to follow Him, denying my sinful fleshly nature, & try to obey the will of the Father. Strive for holiness, people! Love the Lord with everything that you are! Praise God!

Thank you for showing us this wonderful story of hope. St Oscar Romero my patrion saint. Thru him I have learned the importance fighting for the truth for God's truth not of man. And dying for God is the ultimate gift. I pray that I have the strength to fight and teach my kids the truth about our Catholic faith. And to follow God with all our heart.

Amazing animation and a good talk. There's a lot of underlying theology and philosophy here as well. Helping the downtrodden is akin to helping Jesus, but why? Jesus is not the downtrodden, even though he was downtrodden himself. Is it because he relates to them? In his perfect humanity, I can certainly see that he would relate to them. However, it's also because he loves them, each and every one of us so much that he'd die for us. When he watches you take care of the poor, he sees you taking care of those he desperately loves! Reminds me of the theological virtue of Charity, the virtue by which you love others not for their own sake(because they are flawed), but for God's sake, because God loves them, and since we love God, we should love who God loves. It makes it a lot easier to love others in spite of their flaws.

One thing to know about the circumstances in Salvador when Father Romero died, is that there wasn't a good or bad side. Both sides were bad, the guerrilla and the military did horrible things, the people that could leave the country, left. The poor that couldn't were trapped in the middle. Is a similar situation that is happening now in Siria. And in a another note, there is a salsa song named "padre Antonio y su monaguillo Andrés", the song is based on Father Romero story and is a very good song.

I personally believe that had St. Romero lived under less violent and a more democratic El Salvador he would have come to and idea similar to ft. Arizmendiarrieta to bring people out of poverty, making the wokplace more fair and the capitalist economy more moral through education and the distributist principles, nevertheless he sacrificed himself due to the extreme circumstances he lived in

It's sad when on his own country a lot of people even catholics don't like him at all because for them he was the "communist priest" when in reality there are speeches of him explaining why marxism and catholicism cannot go hand in hand, he critiqued the army and its brutality but also the guerrillas and their crimes. He tried his best to be neutral in the middle of a civil war and was way more focus on the poor. As he one said "In this country (El Salvador) there are 3 groups, the oligarchs, the left and the common people/folks" he was clearly for the later and not for the other 2. Sadly the polític left use a lot of his image and this confuse people even more.

he likely tried to distance himself from Marxism for the sole reason that the government would've had him killed a whole lot faster had he even tacitly endorsed the socialist tendencies his poor parish members were probably advocating at that point. i don't think it's any coincidence that he was most likely killed by an open neofascist

For a period in the mid 20th century the Catholic Church experimented in places like France to have priests who are also workers as their day job, and it went good, they were a lot more connected to their communities and in tune and stuff, but they began having more left wing sympathies, or working class sympathies more accurately, and this alarmed the church so much they banned it again. I think the leadership of the Church is not interested, or directly against the idea, of priests like Romero, as sick as it is, I think a lot of Church leaders are glad he died.

It is regarded as a heretic theology due to its connections with Marxism if I’m not mistaken. And one of the beliefs of Marxism is that if the poor were given power they would create a virtuous society whereas Christianity believes we are all imperfect and it’s through Christ alone there is redemption. I don’t think Oscar explicitly identified as a Liberation Theology follower

a lot of Catholics don't like the fact that there are Catholic marxists or even Catholics who seemed to abide by those ideas in anyway. liberation theology is not heretical. The church had at times strategically been against the socialist movements in the world because the soviets originally had an anti religion policy but more over, because the capitalist powers were far more likely to fund and protect the church as a mechanism for their own power. I mean when Vatican City only exists because the pope made a deal with Mussolini, the idea of the church acting totally apolitically kind of gets thrown out the window.

We are servants to the Gospel, not the other way around, Ascension. You need to learn that distinction. Sucking up to the very enemies of Christ. Truly the mystery of wickedness. Mystery, Babylon the Great the Mother of Harlots. You wouldn’t know actual Catholicism if your lives depended on it.
